Detecting Extra Dimension By the Experiment of the Quantum Gravity Induced Entanglement of Masses

It is believed that gravity may be regarded as a quantum coherent mediator. In this work we propose a plan using the Quantum Gravity Induced Entanglement of Masses (QGEM) experiment to test the extra dimension. The experiment involves two freely falling test masses passing though a Stern-Gerlach-like device. We study the entanglement witness of them in the framework of Randall-Sundrum II model (RS-II). It turns out that the system would reach entangled more rapidly in the presence of extra dimension. In particular, this is more significant for large radius of extra dimension

We studied the validity of a “Streitberger” needle as a valid approach in a Chinese population with experience of acupuncture. Volunteers were recruited from students of the School of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Sixty students receiving education in acupuncture theory and experience in practical acupuncture were tested in study determining whether needling with the placebo needle felt any different from conventional acupuncture. Outcomes included measures of penetration sensation, VAS ratings, and Deqi sensation questionnaire. As a result, needle penetration, VAS ratings for either needle and Deqi sensation were not significantly different between two kinds of needles. Our findings show that the use of “Streitberger” needle is credible in a Chinese population with acupuncture experience

Primordial black holes from an inflationary potential valley

Primordial black holes (PBHs) could be formed if large perturbations are generated on small scales in inflation. We study a toy inflation model with a local minimum. The curvature perturbations are enhanced when the inflaton passes through the local minimum, with more efficient amplification rate than that of quasi-inflection point inflation, leading to the production of PBHs on small scales. The PBHs could comprise the total dark matter in the mass window 101610^{16}--102010^{20}g.Comment: 7 pages,4 figure

    Bis(4-cyano-1-methylpyridinium) bis(1,2-dicyanoethene-1,2-dithiolato-κ2 S,S′)cuprate(II)

The title ion-pair compound, (C7H7N2)2[Cu(C4N2S2)2], was obtained by the direct reaction of CuCl2·2H2O, disodium maleonitriledithiolate (Na2mnt) and 4-cyano-1-methylpyridinium iodide. The anion and one pyridinium cation lie entirely on a mirror plane, whereas for the other cation, a crystallographic mirror plane runs through the N and para-C atoms of the pyridine ring, the methyl C atom, and the cyano group. In the crystal, ions are linked into a three-dimensional network by C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds
