Polymer cholesteric liquid crystal display technology has been demonstrated previously on single pixel monolithic displays at the University of Rochester’s Lab for Laser Energetics. Mass reorientation of PCLC flakes in a variety of host fluids has been modeled and observed. However, a pixilated PCLC display has never been demonstrated. The motive of the project was to create a prototype pixilated PCLC display in order to demonstrate the commercial viability of the technology. An active matrix back plane was designed, fabricated, tested, and incorporated with the existing PCLC display technology. The resulting display showed strong isolation between pixels with negligible cross talk
