Phase Transition and Monopoles Densities in a Nearest Neighbors Two-Dimensional Spin Ice Model
In this work, we show that, due to the alternating orientation of the spins
in the ground state of the artificial square spin ice, the influence of a set
of spins at a certain distance of a reference spin decreases faster than the
expected result for the long range dipolar interaction, justifying the use of
the nearest neighbor two dimensional square spin ice model as an effective
model. Using an extension of the model presented in ref. [Scientific Reports 5,
15875 (2015)], considering the influence of the eight nearest neighbors of each
spin on the lattice, we analyze the thermodynamics of the model and study the
monopoles and string densities dependence as a function of the temperature.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figure
A Gaussian Process Approach for Extended Object Tracking with Random Shapes and for Dealing with Intractable Likelihoods
Tracking of arbitrarily shaped extended objects is a complex task due to the intractable analytical expression of measurement to object associations. The presence of sensor noise and clutter worsens the situation. Although a significant work has been done on the extended object tracking (EOT) problems, most of the developed methods are restricted by assumptions on the shape of the object such as stick, circle, or other axis-symmetric properties etc. This paper proposes a novel Gaussian process approach for tracking an extended object using a convolution particle filter (CPF). The new approach is shown to track irregularly shaped objects efficiently in presence of measurement noise and clutter. The mean recall and precision values for the shape, calculated by the proposed method on simulated data are around 0.9, respectively, by using 1000 particles
Testing the SUSY-QCD Yukawa coupling in a combined LHC/ILC analysis
In order to establish supersymmetry (SUSY) at future colliders, the identity
of gauge couplings and the corresponding Yukawa couplings between gauginos,
sfermions and fermions needs to be verified. Here a first phenomenological
study for determining the Yukawa coupling of the SUSY-QCD sector is presented,
using a method which combines information from LHC and ILC.Comment: 5pp, slightly expanded version of contributions to the Proc. of the

Complete fermionic two-loop results for the interdependence
The complete fermionic two-loop contributions to the prediction for the W-boson mass from muon decay in the electroweak Standard Model are evaluated exactly, i.e. no expansion in the top-quark and the Higgs-boson mass is made. The result for the W-boson mass is compared with the previous result of an expansion up to next-to-leading order in the top-quark mass. The predictions are found to agree with each other within about 4 MeV. A simple parameterization of the new result is presented, approximating the full result better than 0.4 MeV for M_H < 1 TeV
Calculation of fermionic two-loop contributions to muon decay
The computation of the correction \Delta r in the W-Z mass correlation, derived from muon decay, is described at the two-loop level in the Standard Model. Technical aspects which become relevant at this level are studied, e.g. gauge-parameter independent mass renormalization, ghost-sector renormalization and the treatment of \gamma_5. Exact results for \Delta r and the W mass prediction including O(\alpha^2) corrections with fermion loops are presented and compared with previous results of a next-to-leading order expansion in the top-quark mass
