Representations and Cocycle Twists of Color Lie Algebras
We study relations between finite-dimensional representations of color Lie
algebras and their cocycle twists. Main tools are the universal enveloping
algebras and their FCR-properties (finite-dimensional representations are
completely reducible.) Cocycle twist preserves the FCR-property. As an
application, we compute all finite dimensional representations (up to
isomorphism) of the color Lie algebra .Comment: 18 pages, with an concrete exampl
The Effects of Avian Influenza News on Consumer Purchasing Behavior: A Case Study of Italian Consumers' Retail Purchases
To better understand how information about potential health hazards influences food demand, this case study examines consumers’ responses to newspaper articles on avian influenza, informally referred to as bird flu. The focus here is on the response to bird flu information in Italy as news about highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza (HPAI H5N1) unfolded in the period October 2004 through October 2006, beginning after reports of the first outbreaks in Southeast Asia and extending beyond the point at which outbreaks were reported in Western Europe. Estimated poultry demand, as influenced by the volume of newspaper reports on bird flu, reveals the magnitude and duration of newspaper articles’ impacts on consumers’ food choices. Larger numbers of bird flu news reports led to larger reductions in poultry purchases. Most impacts were of limited duration, and all began to diminish within 5 weeks.Avian influenza, bird flu, consumer behavior, food safety, poultry sales and consumption, risk perception and response, Agricultural and Food Policy, Health Economics and Policy, Institutional and Behavioral Economics, International Relations/Trade,
Total Quality Management, Just-In-Time, and Their Effect on Small Manufacturers
This paper examines components of TQM /JIT as they relate to small manufacturers. Particularly, those components that specificall y relate to small volume manufacturing firms are discussed within the framework of the authors' experiences with small manufacturers in Southern California. Common difficulties encountered in small businesses in their effort to implement TQM /]IT are examined
Theoretical Equilibrium Moisture Content of Wood Under Vacuum
Under vacuum drying, there is an equilibrium moisture content corresponding to the vacuum drying conditions, that is, temperature and pressure. Theoretical methods to calculate equilibrium moisture content were developed based on the Hailwood-Horobin sorption theory. The equilibrium moisture contents at pressures from 5 to 760 mm Hg and temperatures from 0 to 100°C were calculated and tabulated in this paper. These equilibrium moisture contents can serve as an aid in the vacuum drying control
Investigation of Boiling Front During Vacuum Drying of Wood
The objective of this research was to theoretically and experimentally investigate the boiling phenomenon and the existence of a boiling front inside wood during continuous and cyclic vacuum drying. The vacuum drying model was theoretically developed based on an energy balance. The experimental results supported the hypothesis that there is a boiling front during vacuum drying. From the boiling front to the surface of the wood, the boiling temperature is lower than the wood temperature, so water in this region boils. From the boiling front to the center of wood, there is no boiling because the pressure inside the wood is higher than the saturation vapor pressure. The boiling front retreats from the surface to the center of the wood as drying proceeds. The speed of retreat depends on the heat supply and properties of the wood, such as permeability and conductivity
