    Consistency Conditions for AdS/CFT Embeddings

The group embeddings used in orbifolding the AdS/CFT correspondence to arrive at quiver gauge field theories are studied for both supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric cases. For an orbifold AdS5×S5/ΓAdS_5 \times S^5/\Gamma the conditions for embeddings of the finite group Γ\Gamma in the SU(4)O(6)SU(4) \sim O(6) isotropy of S5S^5 are stated in the form of consistency rules, both for Abelian and Non-Abelian Γ\Gamma.Comment: 10 pages LaTe

Constraints on Deflation from the Equation of State of Dark Energy

    Get PDF
In cyclic cosmology based on phantom dark energy the requirement that our universe satisfy a CBE-condition ({\it Comes Back Empty}) imposes a lower bound on the number NcpN_{\rm cp} of causal patches which separate just prior to turnaround. This bound depends on the dark energy equation of state w=p/ρ=1ϕw = p/\rho = -1 - \phi with ϕ>0\phi > 0. More accurate measurement of ϕ\phi will constrain NcpN_{\rm cp}. The critical density ρc\rho_c in the model has a lower bound ρc(109GeV)4\rho_c \ge (10^9 {\rm GeV})^4 or ρc(1018GeV)4\rho_c \ge (10^{18} {\rm GeV})^4 when the smallest bound state has size 101510^{-15}m, or 103510^{-35}m, respectively.Comment: 23 pages, 3 figures, typos fixe

    Minimal Family Unification

Absract It is proposed that there exist, within a new SU(2)SU(2)^{'}, a gauged discrete group Q6Q_6 (the order 12 double dihedral group) acting as a family symmetry. This nonabelian finite group can explain hierarchical features of families, using an assignment for quarks and leptons dictated by the requirements of anomaly cancellation and of no additional quarks.Comment: 10 pages, IFP-701-UNC;VAND-TH-94-

Muon anomalous magnetic moment in string inspired extended family models

    Get PDF
We propose a standard model minimal extension with two lepton weak SU(2) doublets and a scalar singlet to explain the deviation of the measured anomalous magnetic moment of the muon from the standard model expectation. This scheme can be naturally motivated in string inspired models such as E_6 and AdS/CFT.Comment: 9 pages, RevTeX, 2 figures, version to be published in Phys. Rev.

Texture of fermion mass matrices in partially unified theories

    Get PDF
We investigate the texture of fermion mass matrices in theories with partial unification (for example SU(2)L×SU(2)R×SU(4)c SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R\times SU(4)_c) at a scale 1012\sim 10^{12} GeV. Starting with the low energy values of the masses and the mixing angles, we find only two viable textures with atmost four texture zeros. One of these corresponds to a somewhat modified Fritzsch textures. A theoretical derivataion of these textures leads to new interesting relations among the masses and the mixing angles.Comment: 10 pages(Latex

Search for a Fourth-Generation Quark More Massive than the Z0 Boson in ppbar Collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV

    Get PDF
We present the results of a search for pair production of a fourth-generation charge -1/3 quark (b') in sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV ppbar collisions using 88 pb^(-1) of data obtained with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. We assume that both quarks decay via the flavor-changing neutral current process b' -> bZ and that the b' mass is greater than m_Z + m_b. We studied the decay mode b'b'bar -> ZZ b bbar where one Z0 decays into e^+e^- or mu^+ mu^- and the other decays hadronically, giving a signature of two leptons plus jets. An upper limit on the cross section of ppbar -> b'b'bar times [BR (b' -> bZ)]^2 is established as a function of the b' mass. We exclude at 95% confidence level a b' quark with mass between 100 and 199 GeV/c^2 for BR(b' -> bZ) = 100%.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Letters on 9/12/9

Search for New Particles Decaying to Dijets at CDF

    Get PDF
We have used 106 pb^-1 of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab to search for new particles decaying to dijets. We exclude at the 95% confidence level models containing the following new particles: axigluons and flavor universal colorons with mass between 200 and 980 GeV/c, excited quarks with mass between 80 and 570 GeV/c^2 and between 580 and 760 GeV/c^2, color octet technirhos with mass between 260 and 480 GeV/c^2, W' bosons with mass between 300 and 420 GeV/c^2, and E_6 diquarks with mass between 290 and 420 GeV/c^2.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figures, 1 table.
