Anomaly Cancellation and Conformality in Quiver Gauge Theories

    Get PDF
Abelian quiver gauge theories provide nonsupersymmetric candidates for the conformality approach to physics beyond the standard model. Written as N=0{\cal N}=0, U(N)nU(N)^n gauge theories, however, they have mixed U(1)pU(1)q2U(1)_p U(1)_q^2 and U(1)pSU(N)q2U(1)_p SU(N)_q^2 triangle anomalies. It is shown how to construct explicitly a compensatory term ΔLcomp\Delta{\cal L}_{comp} which restores gauge invariance of Leff=L+ΔLcomp{\cal L}_{eff} = {\cal L} + \Delta {\cal L}_{comp} under U(N)nU(N)^n. It can lead to a negative contribution to the U(1) β\beta-function and hence to one-loop conformality at high energy for all dimensionless couplings.Comment: 15 pages. minor clarification

Chiral Fermions and AdS/CFT Duality for a Nonabelian Orbifold

    Get PDF
We present what we believe is the minimal three-family AdS/CFTAdS/CFT model compactified on a nonabelian orbifold S5/(Q×Z3)S^{5}/(Q\times Z_{3}). Nontrivial irreps of the discrete nonabelian group Q×Z3Q\times Z_{3} are identified with the 44 of SU(4)SU(4) RR symmetry to break all supersymmetries, and the scalar content of the model is sufficient to break the gauge symmetry to the standard model. According to the conformality hypothesis the progenitor SU(4)3×SU(2)12SU(4)^3 \times SU(2)^{12} theory becomes conformally invariant at an infra-red fixed point of the renormalization group.Comment: 11 pages latex and one JPG figur

Seeking Gauge Bileptons in Linear Colliders

    Get PDF
A promising direction to find physics beyond the standard model is to look for violation of Le,μ,τL_{e,\mu,\tau} conservation. In particular the process eeμμe^- e^- \to \mu^- \mu^- with the exchange of a gauge bilepton has a striking signal without background and is predicted in the most economical model to have a cross-section an order of magnitude higher than previous estimates.Comment: 4 pages LaTeX and 5 postscript figure

Three Family N=1 SUSY Models from Z_n Orbifolded AdS/CFT

    Get PDF
We present an analysis of compactifications of the type IIB superstring on AdS_5 x S^5 / \Gamma, where \Gamma is an abelian cyclic group. Every \Gamma =Z_n of order n<= 12 is considered. This results in 60 chiral models, and a systematic analysis with n<8 yields four containing the minimal SUSY standard model with three families. One of these models extends to an infinite sequence of three-family MSSMs. We also give a lower bound on the number of chiral models for all values of n.Comment: 7 pages RevTeX, version to be published in Phys. Predictions of Neutrino Mixing Angles in a T'Model

Flavor symmetry (T×Z2T^{'} \times Z_2) where TT^{'} is the binary tetrahedral group predicts for neutrino mixing angles θ13=2(π4θ23)\theta_{13} = \sqrt{2} (\frac{\pi}{4} - \theta_{23}) and, with one phenomenological input, provides upper and lower bounds on both θ13\theta_{13} and θ23\theta_{23}. The predictions arise from the deviation of the Cabibbo angle Θ12\Theta_{12} from its lowest-order value tan2Θ12=(2)/3\tan 2\Theta_{12} = (\sqrt{2})/3 and from the TT^{'} mechanism which relates mixing of (ντ,νμ,νe)(\nu_{\tau}, \nu_{\mu}, \nu_e) neutrinos to mixing of (s,d)(s, d) quarks.Comment: Typos. TT^{'} Predictions of PMNS and CKM Angles

    Get PDF
Generalizing a previous model to accommodate the third quark family and CP violation, we present a TT^{'} model which predicts tribimaximal neutrino (PMNS) mixings while the central predictions for quark mixings are Vtd/Vts=0.245|V_{td}/V_{ts}| = 0.245 and Vub/Vcb=0.237|V_{ub}/V_{cb}| = 0.237 with a predicted CP violating KM phase δKM=65.80\delta_{KM} = 65.8^{0}. All these are acceptably close to experiment, including the KM phase for which the allowed values are 630<δKM<72063^{0} < \delta_{KM} < 72^{0}, and depend only on use of symmetry T×Z2T^{'} \times Z_2 to define the model and no additional parameters.Comment: Simplified presentatio

Bigger Rip with No Dark Energy

    Get PDF
By studying a modified Friedmann equation which arises in an extension of general relativity which accommodates a time-dependent fundamental length L(t)L(t), we consider cosmological models where the scale factor diverges with an essential singularity at a finite future time. Such models have no dark energy in the conventional sense of energy possessing a truly simple pressure-energy relationship. Data on supernovae restrict the time from the present until the Rip to be generically longer than the current age of the Universe.Comment: 10 pages latex including 2 figures. Grammar improved. Aspects of Neutrino Mass Matrices

    Get PDF
After an Introduction briefly describing the rise and fall of the three-zero texture of the Zee model, we discuss still-allowed two-zero textures for the Majorana three-neutrino mass matrix. Finally, a model with two right-handed neutrinos and two Dirac texture zeros is described (FGY model) which can relate CP violation in leptogenesis to CP violation in long-baseline neutrino oscillations.Comment: 9 pages latex. Dilepton Production in epe^- p and e+ee^+ e^- Colliders

    Get PDF
In an epe^- p collider, a striking signature for a dilepton gauge boson is \ep \ ; this cross-section is calculated by using the helicity amplitude technique. At HERA, with center-of-mass energy s=314GeV\sqrt s = 314 GeV, a dilepton mass above 150GeV150 GeV is inaccessible but at LEPII-LHC, with a center-of-mass energy s=1790GeV\sqrt s = 1790 GeV , masses up to 650 GeV can be discovered. In an e+ee^+ e^- collider, the signature is \ee \ . The cross-sections of this process are also calculated for the center-of-mass energies s=200,500\sqrt s = 200, 500 and 1000GeV1000 GeV.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figures (not included), IFP-428-UN

Axigluon as Possible Explanation for ppˉttˉp\bar{p} \to t\bar{t} Forward-Backward Asymmetry

A flavor-nonuniversal chiral color model is introduced. It is used for comparison to the recent data on pˉptˉt\bar{p} p \to \bar{t} t. We concluded that the data are consistent with interpretation as an axigluon exchange within 1σ\sigma and a unique rise and fall behavior is predicated with regard to the asymmetry AFBtA^t_{FB} as a function of ttˉt \bar{t} invariant mass, which can distinguish our model from others before one discovers the axigluon resonance. Further aspects of the model are discussed.Comment: reference update
