HEALTH AND TECHNOLOGY IN ROWING:Â A HEALTHIER PROCESS OF MAKING WEIGHT FOR THE LIGHTWEIGHT - ROWER
The process of making weight in the sport of lightweight rowing was evaluated for female college-aged athletes. A group of 11 female athletes participating in a United States National lightweight development camp for rowing was observed for a period of 2 months. Health issues affecting the athletes were discovered through responses from the subjects as well as observations. Mental health and disordered eating were found to be the largest problems with this group of rowers. Recommendations were made in hopes of making the process of making weight healthier for the lightweight athlete. Coaches need to intervene when an athlete should not be rowing lightweight because of body size or type, or due to health issues that may arise

The effect of carbon content on the properties and processing of F-75 for cast orthopedic implants
This project is concerned with the properties and processing of ASTM F-75 for cast orthopedic implants. The focus is a comparison of two different carbon contents used for this alloy. Using microstructural analysis and surface finish analysis; the properties of this alloy with the different carbon contents were analyzed. The experimental design aspect that played a key role in completion of this project was the materials selection process. This includes the reasons why F-75 is the alloy used for this application and which carbon concentration is the best choice

Modularized fixture design for ECM of turbine engine blisk
This Major Qualifying Project was done under the sponsorship of General Electric, Aircraft Engines Division. The project objective was to design a fixture that would reduce the setup time in an electrochemical machining process. We analyzed the existing fixtures and produced a new design by eliminating fixture features that require unnecessary, time consuming steps. The new fixture attains the goal of setup time reduction while maintaining all functional requirements for a fixture in the corrosive electrochemical-machining (ECM) environment
