The purpose of this paper is to examine the way in which Romanian monastic compounds promote their religious attraction and the degree of collaboration between monasteries and intermediaries in the religious tourism market. The study was carried on in more than 100 monasteries and showed the existence of significant differences regarding the promotion activities among monasteries because of the characteristics of the religious compounds. Moreover the results indicated there are opportunities to develop relationships and partnerships between monasteries and the other actors involved in organizing the travels with religious motivations.Communication tools, distribution activities, religious sites, religious travel.

Fiber reinforced polymer composites for bridge structures

    Get PDF
Rapid advances in construction materials technology have led to the emergence of new materials with special properties, aiming at safety, economy and functionality of bridges structures. A class of structural materials which was originally developed many years ago, but recently caught the attention of engineers involved in the construction of bridges is fiber reinforced polymer composites. This paper provides an overview of fiber reinforced polymer composites used in bridge structures including types, properties, applications and future trends. The results of this study have revealed that this class of materials presents outstanding properties such as high specific strength, high fatigue and environmental resistance, lightweight, stiffness, magnetic transparency, highly cost-effective, and quick assembly, but in the same time high initial costs, lack of data on long-term field performance, low fire resistance. Fiber reinforced polymer composites were widely used in construction of different bridge structures such as: deck and tower, I-beams, tendons, cable stands and proved to be materials for future in this field

For thousands of years, people have been travelling to places considered sacred to meet or to worship Divinity. Religion-motivated tourism is extremely important in many parts of the world. The aim of this paper is to investigate the issue of the religious tourism experience for a religion considered to be conservative and traditionalist in relation to other denominations. In order to achieve this end we distinguish the behavioural characteristics and motivations of the religious sites’ visitors through the abbots’ gaze. The research method of this study is a questionnaire based survey among more than one hundred monasteries’ superiors from different regions of Romania, places known as “holy or sacred” destinations for the Romanian religious people.visitor experience, religious tourism, religious site management, Romanian monasteries

Lead levels in soil-water-plant chain from a foresty ecosystem

    Get PDF
Lead level was determined in soil (20 cm and 40 cm deep), water (water sources for wild game) and plants from three Forest Districts placed in areas with different degree of pollution. Determination of lead concentration was made in forestry ecosystem to see the impact of heavy metals (lead) on wildlife. In soil lead concentration was in limits at both depths (20cm and 40 cm) for all three Forest Districts, in water samples lead level exceeded the maximum admitted limit for drinking water (0.01 ppm) and for surface water (0.01 ppm) and from ecological point of view were in the Vth quality class. Lead concentration was under the maximum admitted limits for plants in all three Forest Districts

Cadmium level in some tissues and organs from wild boar

The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is one of the most common species of Romanian wild game. It’s meat is found often on the market and in peoples menu list. One of the most dangerous heavy metals is cadmium. It has several toxic effects on: kidneys, liver, testes, bones [2, 5]. The study was carried out in three different areas regarding the contamination level with heavy metals: Forest District M., Forest District. C and Forest District S. Cadmium concentration was directly correlated with the pollution degree of the three different areas Forest District M. >Forest District C.> Forest District T. Cadmium concentration in wild boar tissues and organs was: in Forest District C. between 0.009 ppm and 0.341 ppm; in Forest District M. between 0.011 ppm and 5.346 ppm and in Forest District T. between 0.007 ppm and 0.123 ppm
