    Es claro que la mayoría de los mexicanos no se sienten identificados con ningún partido político y no es hasta el año 2013 que se le brinda la posibilidad al ciudadano de votar y ser votado a través de las candidaturas independientes ciudadanas. A pesar de que la presencia de candidatos independientes en los procesos electorales ha ido en aumento los casos de éxito son contados, pero ha quedado evidenciado que mediante la figura de la candidatura independiente se puede vencer en las urnas y se ha demostrado que son una opción valiosa, viable y bien recibida por la ciudadanía. Sin embargo, la desigualdad de condiciones en las que participa un candidato independiente es el mayor reto en temas de participación ciudadana. La figura, sobre todo en 2021 tuvo un declive significativo, sin embargo, esto no debe ser una motivación para su desaparición ni tampoco un pretexto para la decepción o para pensar que no tiene ningún uso, deber ser una motivación para exigir cambios en la ley que exija un piso parejo con condiciones de competencia equitativa para los candidatos independientes y aquellos candidatos postulados por partidos políticos.     Effective Lagrangian description of Higgs mediated flavor violating electromagnetic transitions: implications on lepton flavor violation

    Higgs mediated flavor violating electromagnetic interactions, induced at the one--loop level by a nondiagonal HfifjHf_if_j vertex, with fif_i and fjf_j charged leptons or quarks, are studied within the context of a completely general effective Yukawa sector that comprises SUL(2)×UY(1)SU_L(2)\times U_Y(1)--invariant operators of up to dimension--six. Exact formulae for the one--loop γfifj\gamma f_if_j and γγfifj\gamma \gamma f_if_j couplings are presented and their related processes used to study the phenomena of Higgs mediated lepton flavor violation. The experimental limit on the μeγ\mu \to e\gamma decay is used to derive a bound on the branching ratio of the μeγγ\mu \to e\gamma \gamma transition, which is 6 orders of magnitude stronger than the current experimental limit. Previous results on the τμγ\tau \to \mu \gamma and τμγγ\tau \to \mu \gamma \gamma decays are reproduced. The possibility of detecting signals of lepton flavor violation at γγ\gamma \gamma colliders is explored through the γγlilj\gamma \gamma \to l_il_j reaction, putting special emphasis on the τμ\tau \mu final state. Using the bound imposed on the HτμH\tau \mu vertex by the current experimental data on the muon anomalous magnetic moment, it is found that about half a hundred events may be produced in the International Linear Collider.Comment: 18 pages, 12 figure

    One-loop effects of extra dimensions on the WW\gamma and WWZ vertices

    The one-loop contribution of the excited Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of the SUL(2)SU_L(2) gauge group on the off-shell WWγWW\gamma and WWZWWZ vertices is calculated in the context of a pure Yang-Mills theory in five dimensions and its phenomenological implications discussed. The use of a gauge-fixing procedure for the excited KK modes that is covariant under the standard gauge transformations of the SUL(2)SU_L(2) group is stressed. A gauge-fixing term and the Faddeev-Popov ghost sector for the KK gauge modes that are separately invariant under the standard gauge transformations of SUL(2)SU_L(2) are presented. It is shown that the one-loop contributions of the KK modes to the off-shell WWγWW\gamma and WWZWWZ vertices are free of ultraviolet divergences and well-behaved at high energies. It is found that for a size of the fifth dimension of R11TeVR^{-1}\sim 1TeV, the one-loop contribution of the KK modes to these vertices is about one order of magnitude lower than the corresponding standard model radiative correction. This contribution is similar to the one estimated for new gauge bosons contributions in other contexts. Tree-level effects on these vertices induced by operators of higher canonical dimension are also investigated.     Case Report: First Report and Phylogenetic Analysis of Porcine Astroviruses in Chile.

    Porcine Astrovirus (PoAstV) causes mild diarrhea in young pigs and is considered an emerging virus in the swine industry worldwide. PoAstV has high genetic diversity and has been classified into five genetic lineages, PoAstV1-5. In Chile, only human astroviruses have been reported. This study aimed to determine the presence and genetic diversity of PoAstV circulating in intensive pig farms in Chile. Seventeen Chilean intensive swine farms from Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O'Higgins, Ñuble and Araucanía regions were sampled. A selection of oral fluid and fecal material samples from 1-80 days-old pigs were collected and analyzed using next-generation sequencing. The circulation of PoAstV was confirmed in all studied farms. We obtained complete or partial sequences of PoAstV-2 (n = 3), PoAstV-4 (n = 2), and PoAstV-5 (n = 7). In 15 out of 17 farms, we detected more than one lineage co-circulating. Phylogenetic analyses grouped the seven PoAstV-5 strains in a monophyletic cluster, closely related to the United States PoAstV-5 strains. The three PoAstV-2 were located into two separate sub-clusters. PoAstV-4 sequences are also grouped in two different clusters, all related to Japanese strains. Thus, our results indicate that PoAstV circulates in Chile with high frequency and diversity. However, the lack of reference sequences impairs local evolution patterns establishment and regional comparisons. This is the first contribution of PoAstV genomes in Latin America; more studies are needed to understand the diversity and impact of PoAstV on swine health

    Microalgae Cultivation for Secondary Metabolite Production

    Microalgae including cyanobacteria have been recognized as an excellent source of fine chemicals, renewable fuels, vitamins, and proteins and usually are found in health food stores around the world. However, the accumulation of these compounds generally occurs at end of the exponential growth phase; furthermore, biomass density in cultivation commonly is low. Open cultures have been used for pigment, biofuels, and biomass production, but these types of culture system are not a good choice for the production of fine chemicals, due to contamination problems and the expensive production costs. Closed photobioreactors can be operated in a continuous cultivation providing an increase on biomass density and contamination-free condition and generally working at a maximum growth rate under specific conditions; besides, these systems can recycle the consumed culture medium at least three times before a new enriched medium is supplied, generating a more cost-effective production system. In addition, microalgae metabolism can be manipulated to provoke a specific secondary metabolite accumulation by the addition of organic carbon source or changing light intensity or both. In other words, photobioreactors can operate in continuous mode, with efficient light supply and the supplementation of organic carbon source to produce fine biochemicals such as anticancer, antibacterial, antioxidant, lectins, antiviral compounds, and biofuels

    Spectrophotometric analysis of GRB afterglow extinction curves with X-shooter

    In this work we use gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglow spectra observed with the VLT/X-shooter spectrograph to measure rest-frame extinction in GRB lines-of-sight by modeling the broadband near-infrared (NIR) to X-ray afterglow spectral energy distributions (SEDs). Our sample consists of nine Swift GRBs, eight of them belonging to the long-duration and one to the short-duration class. Dust is modeled using the average extinction curves of the Milky Way and the two Magellanic Clouds. We derive the rest-frame extinction of the entire sample, which fall in the range 0AV1.20 \lesssim {\it A}_{\rm V} \lesssim 1.2. Moreover, the SMC extinction curve is the preferred extinction curve template for the majority of our sample, a result which is in agreement with those commonly observed in GRB lines-of-sights. In one analysed case (GRB 120119A), the common extinction curve templates fail to reproduce the observed extinction. To illustrate the advantage of using the high-quality X-shooter afterglow SEDs over the photometric SEDs, we repeat the modeling using the broadband SEDs with the NIR-to-UV photometric measurements instead of the spectra. The main result is that the spectroscopic data, thanks to a combination of excellent resolution and coverage of the blue part of the SED, are more successful in constraining the extinction curves and therefore the dust properties in GRB hosts with respect to photometric measurements. In all cases but one the extinction curve of one template is preferred over the others. We show that the modeled values of the extinction and the spectral slope, obtained through spectroscopic and photometric SED analysis, can differ significantly for individual events. Finally we stress that, regardless of the resolution of the optical-to-NIR data, the SED modeling gives reliable results only when the fit is performed on a SED covering a broader spectral region.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables, accepted for publication in Astronomy & Astrophysic

    Decentralized event-based leader-following consensus for a group of two-wheeled self-balancing robots

    [EN] This paper deals with the development of a decentralized event-based control strategy applied to the leader-following consensus problem of a group of two-wheeled self-balancing robots so called mobile inverted pendulum (MIP). The MIP’s nonlinear mathematical model which includes the dynamics of the actuators is presented. Then, the model around an operating point is considered which allows to exploit the differential flatness property of the system, permitting a complete parametrization in terms of the flat output. Assuming that the vehicle network exchange information through a directed and strongly connected graph, a decentralized control law is designed, and an event-based algorithm is developed. Then each MIP decides, based on the difference of its current state and its latest broadcast state, when it has to send a new value to its neighbors. The stability of the complete system is carried out in the Lyapunov sense together with the ISS (Input-to-State Stability) approach. Numerical results show the advantages \textit{wrt} information exchange between MIPs, as well as a good performance in the angular stabilization under two scenarios: regulation and tracking problem.[ES] El trabajo presenta el diseno de una estrategia de control distribuido con comunicación activada por eventos, que resuelve el problema de consenso líder-seguidor, de un conjunto de robots móviles tipo péndulo invertido (RMPI). La linealización de las ecuaciones de movimiento de los RMPI, alrededor del punto de equilibrio, permiten explotar las propiedades de planitud diferencial, dando lugar a una reparametrización del sistema mediante la salida plana. Asumiendo que los vehículos se comunican mediante una red, cuya topología es representada por un grafo no dirigido y fuertemente conectado, se disena una ley de control distribuido y una funcion de evento que indica el instante en el que el i-ésimo vehículo debe transmitir informacion (su estado) a sus vecinos. El resultado es un intercambio asíncrono de información entre vehículos y donde el tiempo entre eventos no es equidistante. El análisis de estabilidad se lleva a cabo en el sentido de Lyapunov y en el sentido entrada-estado ISS (Input-to-State Stability).     Evaluation of a lime-mediated sewage sludge stabilisation process. Product characterisation and technological validation for its use in the cement industry

    This paper describes an industrial process for stabilising sewage sludge (SS) with lime and evaluates the viability of the stabilised product, denominated Neutral, as a raw material for the cement industry. Lime not only stabilised the sludge, raised the temperature of the mix to 80-100 °C, furthering water evaporation, portlandite formation and the partial oxidation of the organic matter present in the sludge. Process mass and energy balances were determined. Neutral, a white powder consisting of portlandite (49.8%), calcite (16.6%), inorganic oxides (13.4%) and organic matter and moisture (20.2%), proved to be technologically apt for inclusion as a component in cement raw mixes. In this study, it was used instead of limestone in raw mixes clinkerised at 1400, 1450 and 1500 °C. These raw meals exhibited greater reactivity at high temperatures than the limestone product and their calcination at 1500 °C yielded clinker containing over 75% calcium silicates, the key phases in Portland clinker. Finally, the two types of raw meal (Neutral and limestone) were observed to exhibit similar mineralogy and crystal size and distribution. © 2011.Peer Reviewe
