Kesantunan Permintaan : Interaksi Mahasiswa Dan Dosen

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan bentuk kalimat, penanda kesopanan, dan alasan dari mahasiswa digunakan meminta kesopanan dengan dosen di Dharma Universitas Andalas. Ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian diambil dari ucapan-ucapan yang meminta antara mahasiswa dan dosen. Berdasarkan analisis data menunjukkan bentuk kalimat yang sering digunakan oleh mahasiswa adalah kalimat perintah kemudian diikuti oleh kalimat tanya dan kalimat deklaratif. Meskipun mahasiswa digunakan kalimat penting, itu tidak berarti bahwa itu adalah perguruan ucapan mahasiswa tidak sopan karena dilengkapi dengan penanda meminta kesopanan dan juga alasan menggunakannya. Beberapa penanda meminta kesopanan adalah dengan menggunakan kata tolong, can, dan -lah partikel. Umumnya, mahasiswa digunakan makna ucapan sebagai alasan terbesar saat menggunakan meminta kesopanan untuk dosen. Selain itu, alasan lain yang juga mempengaruhi mahasiswa yang digunakan meminta kesopanan adalah orang pertama, orang kedua, dan emosi pembicara

Code Switching Used by English Lecturers During Teaching as Found in Padang State University

This research focuses on the study of the types of code switching and the reasons for lecturers to use the code switching that is based on Wardaugh’s theory and supported by Gumperz. The data was collected by using field method, with several steps, namely: following the lecturer, recording techniques, field recording, and interviews. From several data were examined, it was found three types of code switching. Conversations type is a type of code switching that often appear, followed by the type of situational and metaphorical. In addition, it was found seven reasons for the use of code switching in teaching and learning, namely the influence of students who first use the Indonesian language, ignorance of the students to the lecturers’ explanation , the emphasis on the previous statement, search the attention of the students because they make noise in the classroom, liquefaction the tense atmosphere with a little joke, forgetfulness some of the terms in English, and no equivalent word in English when giving an example of a lesson.

PENINGKATAN VISIBILITAS DAN PROMOSI DIGITAL KAMPUNG ADAT KURANJI

Kuranji Traditional Village has the potential to become a cultural tourism object that can represent and introduce Minangkabau culture well at the national and international levels. Even so, Kuranji Traditional Village is still constrained by several crucial issues such as infrastructure, amenities and ancillary services, human resources, promotion (visibility in cyberspace), and strategic development plans. The purpose of this activity is to increase the visibility and digital promotion of the Kuranji Traditional Village in cyberspace. This activity was carried out using the workshop method; first, participants are given materials and directions; second, participants work on or practice the material that has been delivered; the three presenters and participants held discussions to resolve situational problems that were not covered in the material previously presented. The results of the activity showed positive things where managers and cultural activists in the Kuranji Traditional Village for development felt that this activity was very useful for improving the Kuranji Traditional Village as a cultural tourism object as well as an effort to increase the financial strength of the Kuranji Traditional Village community to achieve its main goal, maintenance of Minangkabau culture, through this digital promotion. Bentuk Komunikasi Santun Petugas Rumah Sakit Terhadap Pasien di Rumah Sakit Daerah Solok Sumatera Barat: Kajian Pragmatik

The aim of this study is to find out types and maxim of politeness that occurred between health workers and the patient. In conducting this reseacrh, the results obtained with the research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. In collecting the data this research used observational  method, this method followed by note taking  technique and the analysis method used padan pragmatics method. The result of this research shown that the news sentences occupy the top position, followed by imperative sentences. Question sentences are occurred in the third position that are often used by health workers when communicating with the patinets at Solok Regional Hospital, West Sumatera

The Analysis of Politeness Strategies in Directive Utterance as Found Among English Department Students at Dharma Andalas University

This research describe and explain the indicators of politeness among students of English Department in Dharma Andalas University. This research uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The data of this research are the speech between English Department students. Retrieval of data using the refer method. This method is followed by a free and interactive technique. Data was collected by taking recorded conversations between students of English Department at Dharma Andalas University. The results of the research data show 5 indicators that students apply in their utterances, they are: the use of word help, sorry, greeting, could, and thank you.  The use of greeting is the most indicator that the students used in their utterances, followed by the use of word help, could, sorry and the last one is 4 data of indicator that uses of word thank you

In-Between Discipline And Control: Ari Aster's Midsommar As An Allegory For Hypercapitalist Society

Horror’s disruptive quality in that it continually demonstrates how the monstrous and evil circulate, invading complacent individuals, turning them into what they think as their opposites. This means that horror films possess a potential to show people that there is a possibility that the evil of the primal and primitive resides behind the veil of moral superiority and intellectual achievement of the modern world. Ari Aster’s horror film entitled Midsommar (2019) exploits the metaphorical power of the horror in revealing how the archaic is actually in the possession of the modern/“cultured”/“civilized”. The film is a reflection of the monstrosity of the systems that govern the contemporary society—a hypercapitalist society that is in-between Disciplinary Society and the Society of Control; Society of (Semi-)Control. This study mainly draws from Deleuze, Foucault, and Neo-Marxists. Data is collected by using observation method. As for data analysis methods, this study utilizes formalist technique called close reading and then apply the theoretical frameworks in an accordance with the methodological implications found in them. It is found that the narrative and visual elements of the film allegorically depict crucial aspects of a Disciplinary Society, Society of (Semi-)Control, and hypercapitalist society. The film unveils the oppressive and repressive nature of late-stage capitalism and Society of (Semi-)Control. This is shown through the customary suicide of old people because they are assumed to have past their productive years in a ritual called ättestupa; the strict division of labor; the deliberate reproduction of disable people; and the restriction to express one’s ownership of personal pain and sadness could be interpreted as elements that construct an allegory for a hypercapitalist society. Moreover, through its heroine, Dani, Midsommar also explores the process of how Disciplinary Society transforms into Society of (Semi-)Control

THE MAXIM OF REQUESTING POLITENESS BETWEEN COLLEGE STUDENTS AND LECTURER (MAXIM KESANTUNAN DALAM TUTURAN PERMINTAAN ANTARA MAHASISWA DAN DOSEN)

This research is an advanced research from the previous research. This study aims at describing and explaining the politeness maxims that are fulfilled by the speech of student requesting to the lecturer at Dharma Andalas University. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data are obtained from the utterances of requesting spoken between students and lecturers. The theory used in data analysis is the maxim of politeness by Leech. Based on data analysis, it shows that the maxim of politeness that is often filled with student speech is the maxim of agreement. About 40 percent of the maxim of agreement is fulfilled by the speech of student requesting to the lecturers. On the otherhand,30 percent of  maxim of symphaty occured in that anaysis. It was continued by the maxim of appreciation, the maxim of generosity and policy. However, the maxim of simplicity was not found in the speech of the student's requestingin Dharma Andalas University

Implicature in Barrack Obama’s Presidential Candicacy Announcement Speech

This research describes the use of implicatures. This study aims to see the message in Barack Obama's campaign speech. Furthermore, this study uses the implicature theory proposed by  Grice and George Yule,  the  language  function  theory  proposed  by  Geoffrey  Leech  and  complemented  by  the ethnographic  theory of communication  by Dell Hymes.  The data is taken from Barack  Obama's utterances delivered in a campaign speech in Springfield, Illinois, USA on February 10, 2007. This research follows the research phase proposed by Sudaryanto. At the basic stage of the data, the writer used the listening method and the technique of listening to the free and speaking competently. At the analysis, the researcher used the pragmatic matching method. Based on the analysis, the researcher found forty-two implicatures contained in the thirty-eight teachings of Barack Obama in the campaign speech. In addition, each implicature has a different function and purpose

IMPOLITENESS OF COLLEGE STUDENT SHORT MESSAGE SERVICE TOWARD THE LECTURER (KETIDAKSANTUNAN DALAM PESAN SINGKAT MAHASISWA KEPADA DOSEN)

This study aims to describe and explain the strategy of dishonesty, politeness indicator, and factors used in short messages students to the lecturerin Dharma Andalas univeristy. This research uses qualitative descriptive analysis. The data of this research is the utterance that happened between student and lecturer. In collectingdata, this research used reference method. This method is followed by the technique of record. Data is done by recording a short message that goes to the lecturer's mobile phone. The method of data analysis used in this study is a method of technicalwith pragmatic, referential, and translational. The method of presentation of  thisresearch results isused formal and informal methods. The results of the data analysis showed that the strategy of impoliteness that commonly used by the students is bald on record impolitenes, followed by positive impoliteness and negative impoliteness. While the indicator of politeness is often used is to use the word sorry, please and should. Another factor that causes the most frequent of impoliteness is direct criticism with hard words

Politeness Strategies Between English Department Students at Dharma Andalas University

The strategy of politeness, and sentence structures are all described and explained in this research of Dharma Andalas University English Department students. Descriptive qualitative analysis is used in this study. A discourse between students studying English literature serves as the research's data source. Data retrieval through the refer technique. This is followed by an open-ended, participatory manner. Data were gathered by recording discussions between Andalas Dharma University English literature students.
