Spatial Effects: Binaural Simulation of Sound Source Motion

    Get PDF
This report considers the technology needed to achieve binaural simulation of sound source motion based on a single-channel audio input. To do so will require an understanding of Interaural Time Differences, Interaural Level Differences, spectral cues, falloff with distance and the Doppler Effect. Binaural reproduction will be discussed as well as the outline of a simple simulation setup.Architecture & Allied Art

Politics at the mall: the moral foundations of boycotts

    Get PDF
This article examines the motivations of liberals and conservatives to boycott and buycott. Nine studies demonstrate that although both liberals and conservatives engage in consumer political actions, they do so for different reasons influenced by their unique moral concerns: Liberals engage in boycotts and buycotts that are associated with the protection of harm and fairness moral values (individualizing moral values), whereas conservatives engage in boycotts and buycotts that are associated with the protection of authority, loyalty, and purity moral values (binding moral values). In addition, the individualizing moral values lead to a generally more positive attitude toward boycotts, which explains why liberals are more likely to boycott and buycott. Liberals' greater concern for the suffering of others and unfair treatment makes them more likely to engage in consumer political actions. Conservatives, in turn, engage in consumer political actions in relatively rarer cases in which their binding moral values are affected by corporate activity.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Dynamic Security-aware Routing for Zone-based data Protection in Multi-Processor System-on-Chips

    Get PDF
In this work, we propose a NoC which enforces the encapsulation of sensitive traffic inside the asymmetrical security zones while using minimal and non-minimal paths. The NoC routes guarantee that the sensitive traffic is communicated only through the trusted nodes which belong to the security zone. As the shape of the zones may change during operation, the sensitive traffic must be routed through low-risk paths. We test our proposal and we show that our solution can be an efficient and scalable alternative for enforce the data protection inside the MPSoC

Grafting luminescent metal-organic species into mesoporous MCM-41 silica from europium(III)tetramethylheptanedionate, Eu(thd)3

    Get PDF
Mixed systems with Eu(III) β-diketonates as optically active guest species, and mesoporous silicas MCM-41 as a host matrix have been investigated. The grafting of europium(III) onto the inner walls of unmodified MCM-41 has been achieved starting from Eu(thd)3 (thd = 2,2,6,6- tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate), using two routes: wet impregnation (WI) at room temperature, and chemical vapour infiltration (CVI) at 185 °C. In received hybrids, denoted Eu(thd)x@MCM- 41, the same maximum yield [Eu]/[Si] = 8.2 at% on average has been achieved with either methods. The molar ratio x = [thd]/[Eu] is 0.6 on average for WI samples, and 1.5 for CVI samples. In the latter, higher contents in thd compensate lower contents in silanols with respect to the former. Rationalizing the possible bonds exchanged at the silica surface leads to a great diversity of possible co-ordination schemes according to the expression Σ[Si(OH)nx (O)xEu(thd)3-x] (where Σ means that surface species are considered). Chromophore neutral ligands phenanthroline (phen) or bipyridine (bipy) have been added to induce efficient Eu3+ luminescence under 270–280 nm excitation, via the antenna effect. For the most favourable case, (phen)yEu(thd)x@MCM-41, the emission intensity at 612 nm under excitation at 270 nm is 2/3 that for the genuine heteroleptic complex Eu(thd)3(phen). Moreover the hybrid material is stable up to 440 °C

    Interferência directa entre radares FMCW

In this work is studied the direct interference between FMCW radars using the algebraic expressions that outputs the expected chirp interference rate. In hope that by understanding the effect of each radar parameters on the radar system, it is possible to reduce or eliminate the chirp interference rate within the radar system. The expressions are inspired by set theory in order to better gather the numerous conditions that limit the interference rate, such as the frequency window and the chirps duration, to reduce the complexity of the FMCW radar signal, and last, to translate to a more efficient use of the simulation computations in regard to time and memory used. The simulators created serves two purposes: first to allow to simulate interference between two radars with different configurations. Supporting the expressions interference rate output. Second it gives an intuitive way to visualize and understand the interference behavior. Lastly, was experimented with success using radar development kits to confirm the theorical and simulated results.
