Supporting Caregivers of Patient with Dementia
Being a caregiver for an adult with dementia can be a demanding job. In 2021, an estimated 11 million family members provided 16 billion hours worth of care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Beyond the financial burden, the strain of caregiving also increases risk for emotional stress and can take a toll on physical and mental health. The goal of this project was to help reduce caregiver stress by increasing awareness of support resources. A template in the EMR was created to compile a list of these resources along with general caregiving tips. This template was made available to family medicine providers to share with patients who care for someone with dementia.https://scholarworks.uvm.edu/fmclerk/1911/thumbnail.jp
Strawman: an Ensemble of Deep Bag-of-Ngrams for Sentiment Analysis
This paper describes a builder entry, named "strawman", to the sentence-level
sentiment analysis task of the "Build It, Break It" shared task of the First
Workshop on Building Linguistically Generalizable NLP Systems. The goal of a
builder is to provide an automated sentiment analyzer that would serve as a
target for breakers whose goal is to find pairs of minimally-differing
sentences that break the analyzer.Comment: A builder entry to the sentence-level sentiment analysis task of the

Chiral transition in a strongly coupled fermion-gauge-scalar model
We report the recent results from the computer simulations of a
fermion-gauge-scalar model with dynamical chiral-symmetry breaking and chiral
transition induced by the scalar field. This model might be considered to be a
possible alternative to the Higgs mechanism of mass generation. A new scheme is
developed for detecting the chiral transition. Our results show with higher
precision than the earlier works that the chiral transition line joins the
Higgs phase transition line, separating the Higgs and Nambu (chiral-symmetry
breaking) phases. The end point of the Higgs transition with divergent
correlation lengths is therefore suitable for an investigation of the continuum
limit.Comment: 3 pages, 3 eps figs, encoded with uufiles (Contribution to Lattice
