Model Based Development of Quality-Aware Software Services
Modelling languages and development frameworks give support for functional and structural description of software architectures. But quality-aware applications require languages which allow expressing QoS as a first-class concept during architecture design and service composition, and to extend existing tools and infrastructures adding support for modelling, evaluating, managing and monitoring QoS aspects. In addition to its functional behaviour and internal structure, the developer of each service must consider the fulfilment of its quality requirements. If the service is flexible, the output quality depends both on input quality and available resources (e.g., amounts of CPU execution time and memory). From the software engineering point of view, modelling of quality-aware requirements and architectures require modelling support for the description of quality concepts, support for the analysis of quality properties (e.g. model checking and consistencies of quality constraints, assembly of quality), tool support for the transition from quality requirements to quality-aware architectures, and from quality-aware architecture to service run-time infrastructures. Quality management in run-time service infrastructures must give support for handling quality concepts dynamically. QoS-aware modeling frameworks and QoS-aware runtime management infrastructures require a common evolution to get their integration
"Il popolo" en la obra de Maquiavelo. Entre la eversión de la nobleza y el tumulto de la plebe.
Machiavelli alerted the ruler about the necessity of avoiding by any means the hate of the people. Because of this, the implicit consent of the governed would become his most effective defense. He concluded that through examples that showed the necessity of the people’s intervention in public affairs. Accepting this, the lack of systematization in his analysis force us to deepen about the terms he used to define every social stratum. This is the only way to determinate with precision who could be consider as a part of this popolo that he insistently appeal.
PI-based controller for low-power distributed inverters to maximise reactive current injection while avoiding over voltage during voltage sags
This paper is a postprint of a paper submitted to and accepted for publication in
IET Power Electronics and is subject to Institution of Engineering and Technology Copyright. The copy of record is
available at the IET Digital Library. In the recently deregulated power system scenario, the growing number of distributed generation sources should be considered as an opportunity to improve stability and power quality along the grid. To make progress in this direction, this work proposes a reactive current injection control scheme for distributed inverters under voltage sags. During the sag, the inverter injects, at least, the minimum amount of reactive current required by the grid code. The flexible reactive power injection ensures that one phase current is maintained at its maximum rated value, providing maximum support to the most faulted phase voltage. In addition, active power curtailment occurs only to satisfy the grid code reactive current requirements. As well as, a voltage control loop is implemented to avoid overvoltage in non-faulty phases, which otherwise would probably occur due to the injection of reactive current into an inductive grid. The controller is proposed for low-power rating distributed inverters where conventional voltage support provided by large power plants is not available. The implementation of the controller provides a low computational burden because conventional PI-based control loops may apply. Selected experimental results are reported in order to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.Peer ReviewedPostprint (updated version
An Empirical Study of Real-World SPARQL Queries
Understanding how users tailor their SPARQL queries is crucial when designing
query evaluation engines or fine-tuning RDF stores with performance in mind. In
this paper we analyze 3 million real-world SPARQL queries extracted from logs
of the DBPedia and SWDF public endpoints. We aim at finding which are the most
used language elements both from syntactical and structural perspectives,
paying special attention to triple patterns and joins, since they are indeed
some of the most expensive SPARQL operations at evaluation phase. We have
determined that most of the queries are simple and include few triple patterns
and joins, being Subject-Subject, Subject-Object and Object-Object the most
common join types. The graph patterns are usually star-shaped and despite
triple pattern chains exist, they are generally short.Comment: 1st International Workshop on Usage Analysis and the Web of Data

Scalar form factors of semi-leptonic transitions with coupled-channel effects
Coupled-channel effects are taken into account for the study of scalar form
factors in semi-leptonic and decays, by solving the Muskhelishvili-Omn\`es
integral equations. As inputs, we employ the unitarized amplitudes taken from
chiral effective theory for the region not far away from thresholds, while, at
higher energies of the Goldstone bosons, proper asymptotic conditions are
employed. Within Muskhelishvili-Omn\`es formalism, the scalar form factors are
represented in terms of Omn\`es matrix multiplied by a vector of polynomials.
We reduce the number of subtraction constants by matching to the scalar form
factors derived in chiral perturbation theory up to next-to-leading order. The
recent lattice QCD data by ETM collaboration for and
scalar form factors are simultaneously well described. The
scalar form factors for , and
transitions are predicted in their whole kinematical regions. Using our fitting
parameters, we also extract the following Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa elements:
and
. The
approach used in this work can be straightforwardly extended to the
semileptonic decays.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, 3 tables. XVII International Conference on Hadron

Upper bound solutions of ring compression test
Universidad de Málaga, C.E.I. A comparative study of image processing thresholding algorithms on residual oxide scale detection in stainless steel production lines
The present work is intended for residual oxide scale detection and classification through the application of image processing
techniques. This is a defect that can remain in the surface of stainless steel coils after an incomplete pickling process in a
production line. From a previous detailed study over reflectance of residual oxide defect, we present a comparative study of
algorithms for image segmentation based on thresholding methods. In particular, two computational models based on multi-linear
regression and neural networks will be proposed. A system based on conventional area camera with a special lighting was
installed and fully integrated in an annealing and pickling line for model testing purposes. Finally, model approaches will be
compared and evaluated their performance..Universidad de Málaga.
