Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are the next generation of embedded ICT systems designed to be aware of the physical environment by using sensor-actuator networks to provide users with a wide range of smart applications and services. Many of these smart applications are possible due to the incorporation of autonomic control loops that implement advanced processing and analysis of historical and real-time data measured by sensors; plan actions according to a set of goals or policies; and execute plans through actuators. The complexity of this kind of systems requires mechanisms that can assist the system?s design and development. This paper presents a solution for assisting the design and development of CPS based on Model-Driven Development: MindCPS (doMaIN moDel for CPS) solution. MindCPS solution is based on a model that provides modelling primitives for explicitly specifying the autonomic behaviour of CPS and model transformations for automatically generating part of the CPS code. In addition to the automatic code generation, the MindCPS solution offers the possibility of rapidly configuring and developing the core behaviour of a CPS, even for nonsoftware engineers. The MindCPS solution has been put into practice to deploy a smart metering system in a demonstrator located at the Technical University of Madrid

Introduction: During the presidency of Raúl Castro (2006-2018), the Cuban media system has lost the state-partisan monopoly and has suffered the decentralization of communication production and distribution. In this context of changes, the relationships between the media system components that define journalistic professionalism are analyzed based on the links identified between the journalistic culture and the projection of media policy. Methodology: The critical review of research on media systems allowed us to observe this case study contextualized. A qualitative methodology was applied, based on an in-depth interview with 21 experts in Political and Communication Sciences about Cuba, and qualitative content analysis to political programs, laws, scientific publications, research theses, and other interviews with Cuban journalists registered in previous studies. Results: The central dilemma of Cuban journalism is delineated in the interaction between the journalistic roles and the definition of public service and between journalistic autonomy and the functions of the media aimed at reinforcing nationalism and national defense. Discussion: The meaning of Cuban journalistic professionalism seems to be more associated with the ideals of social justice, citizen participation, political commitment, and national sovereignty, and with a formative model of a humanist and critical journalist; than to the autonomy or the consistency of media system rules. Conclusions: However, tension coexists between media-political instrumentalization and professionalization -constituted by journalism with a strong vocation for public service and journalists who develop strategies to explore greater conceptual and structural autonomy-.Introduction: During the presidency of Raúl Castro (2006-2018), the Cuban media system has lost the state-partisan monopoly and has suffered the decentralization of communication production and distribution.

Frustration free gapless Hamiltonians for Matrix Product States

For every Matrix Product State (MPS) one can always construct a so-called parent Hamiltonian. This is a local, frustration free, Hamiltonian which has the MPS as ground state and is gapped. Whenever that parent Hamiltonian has a degenerate ground state (the so-called non-injective case), we construct another 'uncle' Hamiltonian which is local and frustration free but gapless, and its spectrum is R+\R^+. The construction is obtained by linearly perturbing the matrices building up the state in a random direction, and then taking the limit where the perturbation goes to zero. For MPS where the parent Hamiltonian has a unique ground state (the so-called injective case) we also build such uncle Hamiltonian with the same properties in the thermodynamic limit.Comment: 36 pages, new version with some contents rearranged, and a correction in the injective cas

Collaborative learning and pandemic situation with online teaching. The experience in Management Skills for Engineers

[EN] In the subject of Management Skills for Engineers in the last 2020/21 academic year, it was necessary to modify radically the full teaching scheme. Given that the number of students was small and that they already knew the conceptual management basis, this subject had traditionally been developed through reverse teaching and carrying out cases and group works in a collaborative learning context. COVID and the need of structuring teaching and tutorials based on TEAMS, which the UPV has standardized, raised an important turning point and decision: moving to a traditional teaching methodology or keeping the one used until now adapting it to take advantage of the potential of TEAMS and the rest of the UPV's applications. In this communication the theoretical foundations, the planning of the subject and the most significant results are summarized.Dema Pérez, CM.; Estelles Miguel, S.; Fernández Llatas, C. (2022). [EN] Morphological analysis methodology has a broad spectrum of application: from technological management to the design of new products and services. Among the techniques applied for spurring creativity in “Managerial Skills to Engineers”, Morphological Analysis has been that has had more success along the years. Traditionally has the feature of being a technique very structured that easily can be applied by the students for resolving different kind of problems, and actually the results confirm this asseveration. Our group has applied this methodology since many years ago. First on doctorate courses of “Technology Management” and afterwards on training in different companies, degree and master subjects, and on Continuous Improvement actions (Kaizen blitz) in Almusaffes Ford Factory and first line suppliers. On this paper we discuss the experience applying it as a tool for developing new products combining with other techniques for spurring creativity as brain storming, lateral thinking, de Bono’s hats, nominal group, etc. In this communication are resumed some of the technique application results and the most interesting answers to the final questionnaire each year is passed for knowing directly student’s real opinion.

Publisher Copyright: © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry. The seed-mediated growth of gold nanostructures is known to be strongly dependent not only on the gold seed nanocrystal structure but also on the presence of different additives that may influence the morphology, and therefore the crystalline structure of the final nanoparticle. Among the different additives or capping ligands, biomolecules are an interesting family due to their potential biomedical applications such as drug delivery, bioimaging, biosensing, phototherapy, and antimicrobial activities. Here, we develop a seed-mediated strategy for synthesizing uniform Au nanostars with tuneable optical properties which involves adenosine monophosphate (AMP) as a capping ligand. The experimental data reveal the key role of AMP not just providing colloidal stability and directing the reduction of the gold precursor via complexation but also mediating the anisotropic growth of the Au seeds via its selective adsorption on the different crystalline facets of Au nanoparticles. These observations agree with theoretical simulations carried out using molecular dynamics and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Interestingly, the obtained Au nanostars showed high thermal stability as well as colloidal stability in polar organic solvents, which allowed their direct silica coating via the Stöber method. Importantly, we also explored the mimic enzymatic activity of the resulting gold nanostars and observed a superior catalytic activity compared with other gold nanoparticles reported in the literature.publishersversionpublishe
