    Minimal plane valuations

    [EN] We consider the value (mu) over cap(nu) = lim(m -> infinity) m(-1) a(mL), where a(mL) is the last value of the vanishing sequence of H-0(mL) along a divisorial or irrational valuation nu centered at O-P2,(p), L (respectively, p) being a line (respectively, a point) of the projective plane P-2 over an algebraically closed field. This value contains, for valuations, similar information as that given by Seshadri constants for points. It is always true that (mu) over cap(nu) >= root 1/vol(nu) and minimal valuations are those satisfying the equality. In this paper, we prove that the Greuel-Lossen-Shustin Conjecture implies a variation of the Nagata Conjecture involving minimal valuations (that extends the one stated in [Comm. Anal. Geom. 25 (2017), pp. 125-161] to the whole set of divisorial and irrational valuations of the projective plane) which also implies the original Nagata Conjecture.     Nuestra experiencia con el minivástago femoral de disco a compresión y el cotilo Hedrocel (tantalio)

    Durante los años 2000 a 2002 intervinimos 18 pacientes de artrosis o necrosis sintomática de cadera, con minivástago de fijación metafisiaria de Disco a Compresión (Sulzer) y cotilo monobloque de tantalio Hedrocel (Zimmer), con par de fricción alúmina-polietileno. La edad media de los pacientes fue de 46,7 años (rango 35-61), y el seguimiento medio de 42 meses. La valoración clínica se realizó con la escala de Merle D'Augbigné Postel obteniendo 38,8% de resultados excelentes, 22,2 de resultados buenos, 11,1% regulares y 27,4% malos (5 casos). Cuatro casos necesitaron reintervención por aflojamiento del tallo femoral. No hubo ningún fracaso del cotilo. La sustitución protésica de la cadera en los pacientes jóvenes requieren soluciones con la menor resección del hueso, pero este modelo de tallo femoral, no da un resultado satisfactorio, por lo que lo hemos abandonado.Between 2000 2002 we treated 18 patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis or osteonechrosis of hip, with uncemneted Thrust Plate Protesis (Sulzer) and tantalium acetabular componente Hedrocel (Zimmer), with ceramic-pol- yethylene pair. The average age of the patients was 46,7 years (range:35-61), and the average follow-up of 42 months. Clinical evaluation was done with Merle D'Augbigné Postel's scale obtaining 38,8 % of excellent results, 22,2 % of good results, 11,1 % fair and 27,4 % poor (5 cases). Four cases needed re-operation for loosening of the femoral stem. There was no failure of the acetabular component. The hip artrhroplasty in the young patients need solutions with the minor resection of bone, but this model of femoral stem does not give a satisfactory result, therefore we have abandoned it

    Metodología jerárquica h adaptativa basada en subdivisión de elementos

    [EN] This paper presents a hierarchical h adaptive methodology for Finite Element Analysis based on the hierarchical relations between parent and child elements that come out if these elements are geometrically similar. Under this similarity condition the terms involved in the evaluation of element stiffness matrices of parent and child elements are related by a constant which is a function of the element sizes ratio (scaling factor). These relations have been the basis for the development of a hierarchical h adaptivity methodology based on element subdivision and the use of multipoint-constraints to ensure C0 continuity. The use of a hierarchical data structure significantly reduces the amount of calculations required for the mesh refinement, the evaluation of the global stiffness matrix, element stresses and element error estimation. The data structure also produces a natural reordering of the global stiffness matrix that improves the behaviour of the Cholesky factorization.[ES] En este artículo se presenta una metodología h adaptativa para el Análisis por Elementos Finitos basada en las relaciones jerárquicas entre elementos padre e hijo que surgen si estos elementos son geométricamente similares. Bajo esta condición de similitud, los términos resultantes de la evaluación de las matrices de rigidez de elementos padre e hijo están relacionados por una constante que es una función de la relación de tamaños de elemento (factor de escala). Estas relaciones han sido la base para el desarrollo de una metodología jerárquica h adaptativa basada en la subdivisión de elementos y el uso de restricciones multipunto para asegurar la continuidad C0 . El uso de una estructura de datos jerárquica reduce significativamente la cantidad de cálculos requeridos para el refinamiento de la malla, la evaluación de la matriz de rigidez global, las tensiones de los elementos y la estimación del error del elemento.     Rotura traumática del tendón del supraespinoso en un niño de seis años

    Presentamos un caso de un niño de seis años que sufrió un traumatismo por caída sobre su hombro derecho, con rotura completa del tendón del supraespinoso. Comprobado con Resonancia Magnética. Se operó para efectuar una reinserción transósea del tendón mediante cirugía abierta. Después de un mes de inmovilización se comenzaron los ejercicios activos progresivos con recuperación completa a los tres meses de la intervención.A six year old boy sustained a right shoulder injury after a causal fall. Magnetic Resonance Imaging showed a complete rupture of the supraespinatus tendon. Open surgery was indicated by transosseus reinsertion of the tendon on the humeral head. After one month of shoulder immobilization, the patient physical therapy with progressive active exercises. The patient achivied complete joint motion and function three months after surgery

    Analysis of the small-scale fleet’s coverage under two sampling strategies: from the DCR stock-based to the DCF concurrent sampling in the Northern Spanish coastal gillnets fleet

    Working document presented at the WGCATCH 2015 meeting.The Northern Spanish coastal small scale fleet represents a major challenge for sampling due to the multi-species and multi-gear character and the complexity of the fleets’ dynamics. Particularly, the small-scale gillnets called “beta” (GNS_DEF_60-79_0_0) represents a complex Spanish métiers in terms of catches, effort, geographical distribution and the number of exploited species. Comparison of data obtained in 2008, under a stock-based approach, versus concurrent sampling realized in 2014 resulted in the increase of the information obtained and provided to ICES without detected failures in data quality. Concurrent sampling could represent a source of information for small-scale fisheries which often target a set of coastal species some of which are presently unassesed

    Okadaic acid (1) (OA) and its congeners are mainly responsible for diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP) syndrome. The presence of several OA derivatives have already been confirmed in Prorocentrum and Dinophysis spp. In this paper, we report on the detection and identification of a new DSP toxin, the OA isomer 19-epi-okadaic acid (2) (19-epi-OA), isolated from cultures of Prorocentrum belizeanum, by determining its retention time (RT) and fragmentation pattern using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS).Versión del editor3,471

    Incidencia de tuberculosis osteoarticular en el área sanitaria del Hospital de León. 1997-2001

    Introducción y objetivos: Nos proponemos en este trabajo estudiar la incidencia de tuberculosis en su forma osteoarticular en el área sanitaria del Hospital de León durante los años 1997 a 2001, ambos inclusive. Material y método: Dieciséis casos de tuberculosis osteoarticular confirmados por cultivo microbiológico y/o análisis anatomopatológico fueron incluidos. De ellos, cinco afectaron a columna vertebral, cuatro a rodilla y el resto a otras localizaciones más inusuales. Resultados: De las cinco columnas vertebrales afectadas, tres requirieron tratamiento quirúrgico para descomprimir y estabilizar. En una rodilla se realizó sinovectomía abierta y en otra por artroscopia. Se drenaron abscesos fríos en diferentes localizaciones. Todos los casos recibieron tratamiento médico. Se reflejan los diferentes resultados, desde la restitución ad integrum hasta la anquilosis. Discusión y conclusiones: La incidencia de tuberculosis osteoarticular en nuestra área sanitaria en el periodo 1997-2001 fue del 2% al 4% de todos los cascos de tuberculosis. Hubo una alta incidencia de localizaciones inusuales (muñeca, codo, sacroilíaca).Introduction: Current issue is to study the incidence of osteoarticular tuberculosis, within the sanitary area of the Hospital of Leon. Material and Method: Sixteen cases of osteoarticular tuberculosis confirmed by culture and pathological analysis were included. Five of them involved the raquis and knee. Another cases in unusual local sites. Results: Three of five raquis were managed by decompression and stabilization. One knee was treated by open synovectomy and another one by arthroscopy synovectomy. Cold abscesses were drained in different sites. All cases were treated with drugs. Different results are showed since restitutio ad integrum to anquilosis. Discussion: Osteoarticular tuberculosis incidence in our sanitary area between 1997 to 2001 was 2% to 4%. There was a high incidence for unusual localizations (wrist, elbow and sacroiliaca joints)

    Valoración de los niveles de PCR tras artroplastia total de cadera

    Objetivo: Determinación de la respuesta fisiológica de la Proteína C Reactiva (PCR) y la velocidad de sedimentación glomerular (VSG) tras la artroplastia total de cadera (ATC) no infectada. Material y Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo sobre 20 pacientes afectos de coxartrosis primaria e intervenidos mediante ATC (18 pacientes tipo Auto-fit cementada y 2 pacientes tipo Prophor no cementada). Se determinaron los valores de VSG, PCR, fibrinógeno, hematocrito, hematíes y temperatura corporal matinal preoperatoriamente y en los días 1º, 2º, 3º, 7º, decimocuarto y a los 3 meses tras la intervención. Resultados: Se realizó el test de ANOVA para medidas repetidas con los valores obtenidos. Existieron diferencias significativas entre los niveles de PCR medidos en los diferentes momentos del estudio (p<0,001), alcanzando los niveles máximos dicho parámetro el 2º día postoperatorio y descendiendo sensiblemente a partir del 7º día postintervención. Conclusiones: La permanencia de valores altos de PCR o la aparición de nuevos picos tras el 2º -3er día postoperatorio puede ser un indicador de complicaciones graves en la ATC.Objectives: To determine the physiological answer of the reactive protein C (RPC) and the speed of globular sedimentation (SGS) after non infected total hip arthroplasty (THA). Material and methods: a descriptive study on a total sample of 20 patients suffering primary coxarthrosis and operated with THA was performed (18 patients with cemented Auto-Fit Prosthesis and 2 patients with cementless Prophor Prosthesis). The values of SGS, RPC, fibrinogen and morning body temperature were determined before the surgical proce- dure and on day 1, 2, 3, 7, 14 and 90 after it. Results: an ANOVA test was used for repeated measurements of the obtained results. There were statistically significant differences in the levels of RPC obtained in the different days of the study (p<0.001), obtaining the highest levels of it on day 2 after surgery and highly decreasing from day 7 after surgery onwards. Conclusions: the maintenance of increased levels of RPC or the appearance of new peaks after the day 2 or 3 after surgery may be an indicator of severe complications in THA

    The Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD) as a numerical procedure to solve 3D cracked plates in linear elastic fracture mechanics

    In this work, we present a new approach to solve linear elastic crack problems in plates using the so-called Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD). In contrast to the standard FE method, the method enables to solve the crack problem in an efficient way by obtaining a single solution in which the Poisson's ratio v and the plate thickness B are non-fixed parameters. This permits to analyze the influence of v and B in the 3D solutions at roughly the cost of a series expansion of 2D analyses. Computationally, the PGD solution is less expensive than a full 3D standard FE analysis for typical discretizations used in practice to capture singularities in 3D crack problems.
