Towards A National Agribusiness System: A Conceptual Framework

This paper examines today's challenges to the agribusiness sector. Through the Resource-Based View approach, we explore the potential roles and linkages between national public policies and local strategies in order to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of a national agribusiness system. The main goal is to achieve a strategic alignment between the actions of multiple stakeholders, like firms, research centers, consumers, government, and the society in general. La educación física como disciplina curricular en una escuela republicana: notas para pensar la formación del profesorado

This text presents a consideration about the task of thinking about school Physical Education (PE) in a republican institution, aswell as the professional formation in this field.Althoughwe do not assume completely its theoretical perspective,we locate ourselves within the movement for the renewal of Brazilian PE, which has tried to give our discipline a new role in the school setting. A role that is not limited to the mere �exercising for�, but it emphasizes its position as a syllabus component capable to embrace a systematized knowledge.We assume that the republican school is an inalienable achievement because of its significant rol in modern societies confronting the challenges that emerge in our daily democratic experiences.This comprehension shapes our conception of school PE and, from that perspective, we pay attention to some aspects related to the demands towards the formation of a professional who will have to handle the inherent responsibilities of this institution and, particularly, of PE.By doing so, we reflect upon the training process of the PE teachers. CRITÉRIOS COMPETITIVOS DE OPERAÇÕES AGROINDUSTRIAIS: UM ESTUDO DE CASO NO SETOR ARROZEIRO

In recent years, rice processing firms have been characterized by a situation of poor economic performance and low competitiveness. This article seeks to discuss how the strategic management of operations can contribute to change this reality. Since in this sector the market is generally treated as homogenious, it is intended, by means of a case study, to identify all the competitive criteria that can be valued by the customers. The main goal is to identify the operations-based competitive criteria found in the literature and adapt them to the rice agroindustrial sector, taking its specificities into account. The results indicate the existence of several sector specific criteria and that price is still considered the most important criterion in almost all customer segments. A global analysis of the competitive criteria of the different market segments revealed opportunities to formulate synergistic operations strategies in order to compete in several different market segments.As empresas de beneficiamento de arroz têm se caracterizado, nos últimos anos,  por um quadro de fracos resultados econômicos e baixa competitividade. Este artigo discute como a gestão estratégica das operações pode contribuir para a mudança desta realidade. Como as empresas do setor tratam o mercado de forma homogênea, buscou-se identificar, através de um estudo de caso em uma empresa agroindustrial arrozeira, as possíveis variações nos critérios competitivos mais importantes que os diversos segmentos de mercado possam valorizar, elementos básicos para a formulação de suas estratégias de operações. Neste sentido, o objetivo central do estudo foi adaptar, para o setor agroindustrial do arroz, os critérios competitivos das operações encontrados na literatura, bem como identificar novos critérios levando-se em conta as especificidades do setor. As principais conclusões indicam a existência de critérios competitivos específicos do setor, relacionados, na sua maioria, à questão da sazonalidade; o critério preço, no entanto, foi considerado o mais importante em quase todos os segmentos. Constatou-se também uma grande superposição de critérios nos diferentes segmentos de mercado, o que tem implicações importantes para a formulação de estratégias de operações sinérgicas visando a competir em vários segmentos

EDUCAÇÃO FÍSICA CRÍTICA EM PERSPECTIVA DEMOCRÁTICA E REPUBLICANA

The present study consists of a theoretical essay that analyzes the limits and potentialities of critical educational discourses that aspire to social change. It looks for, mainly, to think about a project of Physical Education (PE) committed to democratic and republican issues. To do so, it points out, from the political philosophy of Hannah Arendt the need to distinguish education and politics, recognizing the value of knowledge and the specificity of PE. This condition does not prevent and limit the value of the theoretical and critical contributions that allow us to interpret the relations between education and society in each historical moment, suggesting a complementary aspect between the hermeneutic, critical-dialectical and poststructuralist traditions to think about the phenomena of PE and its relationship to the theme of the republic, education and democracy. Este estudio consiste en un ensayo teórico que analiza los límites y las potencialidades de los discursos educativos críticos que aspiran al cambio social. Busca, sobre todo, pensar en un proyecto de Educación Física (EF) comprometido con temas democráticos y republicanos. Para este fin, señala, en base a la filosofía política de Hannah Arendt, la necesidad de distinguir educación y política, reconociendo el valor del conocimiento y la especificidad de la EF. Una condición que no impide y limita el valor de las contribuciones teóricas y críticas que permiten la interpretación de las relaciones entre educación y sociedad en cada momento histórico, sugiriendo un aspecto complementario entre las tradiciones hermenéutica, crítico-dialécticas y post-estructuralistas para reflexionar sobre el fenómeno de la EF y su relación con el tema de la república, la educación y la democracia. O presente estudo consiste em um ensaio teórico que analisa limites e potencialidades dos discursos educacionais críticos que aspiram à mudança social. Busca, sobretudo, pensar um projeto de Educação Física (EF) comprometido com questões democráticas e republicanas. Para tanto, aponta, a partir da filosofia política de Hannah Arendt a necessidade de distinguir educação e política, reconhecendo o valor do conhecimento e da especificidade da EF. Condição que não impede e limita o valor dos aportes teóricos e críticos que permitem interpretar as relações entre educação e sociedade em cada momento histórico, o que sugere um aspecto complementar entre as tradições hermenêuticas, crítico-dialéticas e pós-estruturalistas para pensar o fenômeno da EF e  sua relação com o tema da república, da educação e da democracia.

Os critérios competitivos da produção : um estudo exploratório na construção de edificações

Prioridades competitivas são objetivos que a empresa deve buscar mais fortemente com o intuito de aumentar a sua competitividade e, por conseguinte, a sua participação no mercado e a sua lucratividade. As principais prioridades competitivas existentes na literatura são: custo, qualidade, desempenho na entrega, flexibilidade, inovatividade e serviços. Cada uma dessas prioridades tem os seus respectivos desdobramentos, pois as suas definições são genéricas e abrangentes. Porém, em virtude das características do setor de construção de edificações, é necessária uma adequação destes conceitos. Assim o objetivo deste artigo é analisar o conteúdo das prioridades competitivas na construção de edificações, levando em consideração as peculiaridades deste setor produtivo. Vale salientar que as prioridades competitivas foram analisadas e desenvolvidas a partir de entrevistas semi-estruturadas realizadas com especialistas na área de gerenciamento da construção e da aplicação dos conceitos em pequenas empresas de construção de edificações do Rio Grande do Sul.Competitive priorities are objectives that companies should strongly strive to achieve to increase its competitiveness and, consequently, its market share. Based on the literature, the most important competitive priorities are: cost, quality, time, flexibility, innovativeness and services. Each one of them has its own aspects, because their concepts are vast and generic. But, due to the characteristics of the building industrial sector, it is necessary to make an adaptation of these concepts. Then, the objective of this paper is to analyze the contents of competitive priorities in the building industry, considering the peculiarities of this sector. This study was developed through semi-structured interviews with experts in construction management, application of a strategic production diagnosis and observation of these concepts of competitive priorities in small firms of building industry in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
