The changes in the checklist of hoverflies of Slovenia are presented. Fifteen species are recorded as new for the fauna of Slovenia: Brachyopa panzeri, Brachypalpus laphriformis, Callicera aenea, Chamaesyrphus scaevoides, Chalcosyrphus valgus, Melangyna lasiophthalma, Meligramma guttata, Merodon aberrans, Parhelophilus frutetorum, Orthonevra intermedia, Platycheirus occultus, Rhingia borealis, Spazigaster ambulans, Sphaerophoria chongjini and Sphaerophoria fatarum. From the species complex of Merodon aeneus, both M. aeneus species A/B and M. aeneus C were recorded. One species, Xylota caeruliventris, was omitted from the checklist because of misidentification. Information on habitat characteristics, range and conservation status is givenfor every new species.Predstavljene so spremembe v seznamu muh trepetavk Slovenije. An overview of bird ringing in Slovenia in 2013

In 2013, 73,529 birds of 161 species were ringed in Slovenia, with 114 findsfrom abroad, 73 finds of foreign-ringed birds and 1580 local finds. The most numerous ringed species were Blackcap Sylvia atricapilla and Barn Swallow Hirundo rustica, while among ringed nestlings Great Tits Parus major and Blue Tits Cyanistes caeruleus prevailed. The most numerous species among recoveries was the Mute Swan Cygnus olor with probably the oldest swan recorded in Slovenia so far, a 25-year-old female. The longest distance recovery concerned a Sedge Warbler Acrocephalus schoenobaenus from Norway (2,801 km). Of interest among local finds is the longest recovery distance (122 km) recorded for Ural Owl Strix uralensis in Slovenia so far. In 2013, two rare species for Slovenia were ringed, Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus (2 individuals) and Siberian Rubythroat Calliope calliope, which was the first record for Slovenia. Bird ringing report for Slovenia in 2017 and short overview of colour ringing in the period of 2012–2017

In 2017, the Slovenian bird ringing scheme concluded 90 years of continuous ringing in the country. In 2017, we collected data on 176 bird species. We ringed 79,886 birds of 164 species, recorded 177 recoveries of birds ringed in Slovenia and found abroad, 295 foreign recoveries in Slovenia and 2,209 local recoveries. The most ringed species were the Blackcap Sylvia atricapilla and Great Tit Parus major and, among pulli in the nest, the Great Tit, White Stork Ciconia ciconia and Barn Swallow Hirundo rustica. In 2017, 12 colour ringing schemes were active in Slovenia. In the 2012-2017 period, the number of recoveries of birds ringed in Slovenia and found abroad increased significantly due to colour ringing, especially regarding the waterbirds. With colour ringing, the likelihood of recoveries is considerably greater (75.20 ± 91.36 recoveries per 100 ringed birds) than with metal ringing only (0.11 ± 0.08 recoveries per 100 ringed birds). Among local recoveries, the most frequent were the Mute Swans Cygnus olor and Common Terns Sterna hirundo, and among foreign recoveries the Black-headed Gulls Chroicocephalus ridibundus predominated. In 2017, the first Broad-billed Sandpiper Calidris falcinellus was ringed in Slovenia (Sečovlje salinas), and additional three rare species were ringed as well: the Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus (Ljubljansko barje), Paddyfield Warbler Acrocephalus agricola (Ljubljansko barje) and Little Bunting Emberiza pusilla (Šentrupert)

Bird ringing in Slovenia in 2015 and the occurrence of Parrot Crossbills Loxia pytyopsittacus

In 2015, 170 bird species were recorded during bird ringing activities in Slovenia. We ringed 73,371 birds belonging to 162 species, there were 132 foreign recoveries of birds ringed in Slovenia, 120 recoveries of birds ringed abroad and found in Slovenia, as well as 1964 local recoveries. The most frequently ringed species were Blackcap Sylvia atricapilla and Great Tit Parus major. In ringed nestlings, Great Tits and Tree Sparrows Passer montanus predominated. In 2015, the first preliminary ringing of Scops Owls Otus scops during migration took place, resulting in the highest number of Scops Owls ringed so far. Concerning recoveries of birds ringed in Slovenia and later recorded abroad and birds ringed abroad and later recorded in Slovenia, the commonest were Mute Swans Cygnus olor and Black-headed Gulls Chroicocephalus ridibundus. The longest-distance recovery concerned a Reed Bunting Emberiza schoeniculus found in Sweden (2,144 km away). Among the interesting finds were also the first finds of ringed Pygmy Cormorants Microcarbo pygmeus so far from breeding sites in Hungary. Among rare species, Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus, Spanish Sparrow Passer hispaniolensis and a pair of Parrot Crossbills Loxia pytyopsittacus were caught and ringed, the latter for the very first time in Slovenia after more than 100 years. An overview of records of the Parrot Crossbill is given herein, as well as analysis of irruptive years of the Red Crossbills Loxia curvirostra between 1980 and 2015, when the probability of boreal Crossbill species occurrence is the highest. According to the ringers’ data, the irruptive years of Red Crossbills in Slovenia were 1984, 1985, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The article points to the probability that Parrot Crossbills have been overlooked in the past, since larger specimens of Crossbills were ringed mostly in irruptive years, but no specific bill measurements important for distinguishing between Parrot and Red Crossbill had been taken

Bird ringing report for Slovenia in 2016 and occurrence of the Yellow-browed Warbler Phylloscopus inornatus in the last 25 years in Slovenia

V okviru obročkovalne dejavnosti v Sloveniji smo v letu 2016 zbrali podatke o 176 vrstah ptic. Obročkali smo 65.711 ptic 165 vrst, zabeležili 148 domačih, 245 tujih in 1840 lokalnih najdb. Največ je bilo obročkanih črnoglavk Sylvia atricapilla, med mladiči v gnezdu pa so prevladovale velike sinice Parus major, poljski vrabci Passer montanus in bele štorklje Ciconia ciconia. Med domačimi in tujimi najdbami so prevladovale najdbe na osnovi branja barvno obročkanih ptic, zlasti rečnih galebov Chroicocephalus ridibundus, labodov grbcev Cygnus olor in navadnih čiger Sterna hirundo. Med lokalnimi najdbami so prevladovale najdbe velikih sinic in čižkov Spinus spinus. Med redkimi vrstami so bili v letu 2016 obročkani dve mušji listnici Phylloscopus inornatus, plevelna trstnica Acrocephalus agricola, mali strnad Emberiza pusilla in pojoči samec črnoglavega strnada Emberiza melanocephala, ki je v Sloveniji leta 2016 verjetno tudi gnezdil. Število ujetih mušjih listnic se v zadnjih 25 letih sicer povečuje, a vrsta je v Sloveniji še vedno redek in nereden gost na jesenski selitvi.In 2016, data on 176 bird species were gathered during bird ringing activities in Slovenia. As far as local recoveries are concerned, most data were collected for Great Tit and Siskin Spinus spinus. Among rare species, two Yellow-browed Warblers Phylloscopus inornatus were ringed, one Paddyfield Warbler Acrocephalus agricola, one Little Emberiza pusilla and one Black-headed Bunting Emberiza melanocephala, the latter as a singing male, which probably also bred in 2016. The catch frequency of the Yellow-browed Warblers has indeed been increasing in Slovenia in the last 25 years, but this is still a rare and irregular vagrant on autumn migration
