To deeply show the internal reasons for the effects of epoxy resin and curing agent on the high-temperature performance of asphalt, nine kinds of asphalt with different content of epoxy resin and curing agent were prepared. On the premise of ensuring that the softening point, penetration and ductility of epoxy asphalt no attenuation, the dynamic shear rheology test and Saybolt viscosity test were used to examine the rutting factor (G*/sin δ), complex shear modulus (G*), phase angle (δ), and viscosity of asphalt with different epoxy resin and curing agent contents. With the help of fluorescence microscopy, microscopic morphology was analyzed, and the micro-image was further analyzed quantitatively by using 3Dsurface and particle statistics. The results show that adding epoxy resin and curing agent into asphalt can significantly improve the rutting factor and complex shear modulus of asphalt and reduce the phase angle and the viscosity growth rate of asphalt changed from fast to slow. Fluorescence and 3Dsurface imaging results indicate when the epoxy resin and the curing agent are uniformly distributed and forms microflocculent structures, the epoxy resin can fully swell in asphalt, and the fluorescence intensity is uniform. The statistical analysis of particles shows that the improvement in high-temperature performance of asphalt by epoxy resin and curing agent results from the distribution of particle area above 26.7346 μm2. The high-temperature performance of epoxy asphalt is optimal when the content of epoxy resin and curing agent is 6 %

This paper introduces a high-quality open-source text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis dataset for Mongolian, a low-resource language spoken by over 10 million people worldwide. The dataset, named MnTTS, consists of about 8 hours of transcribed audio recordings spoken by a 22-year-old professional female Mongolian announcer. It is the first publicly available dataset developed to promote Mongolian TTS applications in both academia and industry. In this paper, we share our experience by describing the dataset development procedures and faced challenges. To demonstrate the reliability of our dataset, we built a powerful non-autoregressive baseline system based on FastSpeech2 model and HiFi-GAN vocoder, and evaluated it using the subjective mean opinion score (MOS) and real time factor (RTF) metrics. Evaluation results show that the powerful baseline system trained on our dataset achieves MOS above 4 and RTF about 3.30×1013.30\times10^{-1}, which makes it applicable for practical use. The dataset, training recipe, and pretrained TTS models are freely available \footnote{\label{github}\url{https://github.com/walker-hyf/MnTTS}}.Comment: Accepted at the 2022 International Conference on Asian Language Processing (IALP2022

A proteomic view of Caenorhabditis elegans caused by short-term hypoxic stress

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The nematode <it>Caenorhabditis elegans </it>is both sensitive and tolerant to hypoxic stress, particularly when the evolutionarily conserved hypoxia response pathway HIF-1/EGL-9/VHL is involved. Hypoxia-induced changes in the expression of a number of genes have been analyzed using whole genome microarrays in <it>C. elegans</it>, but the changes at the protein level in response to hypoxic stress still remain unclear.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Here, we utilized a quantitative proteomic approach to evaluate changes in the expression patterns of proteins during the early response to hypoxia in <it>C. elegans</it>. Two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) was used to compare the proteomic maps of wild type <it>C. elegans </it>strain N2 under a 4-h hypoxia treatment (0.2% oxygen) and under normoxia (control). A subsequent analysis by MALDI-TOF-TOF-MS revealed nineteen protein spots that were differentially expressed. Nine of the protein spots were significantly upregulated, and ten were downregulated upon hypoxic stress. Three of the upregulated proteins were involved in cytoskeletal function (LEV-11, MLC-1, ACT-4), while another three upregulated (ATP-2, ATP-5, VHA-8) were ATP synthases functionally related to energy metabolism. Four ribosomal proteins (RPL-7, RPL-8, RPL-21, RPS-8) were downregulated, indicating a decrease in the level of protein translation upon hypoxic stress. The overexpression of tropomyosin (LEV-11) was further validated by Western blot. In addition, the mutant strain of <it>lev-11(x12</it>) also showed a hypoxia-sensitive phenotype in subsequent analyses, confirming the proteomic findings.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Taken together, our data suggest that altered protein expression, structural protein remodeling, and the reduction of translation might play important roles in the early response to oxygen deprivation in <it>C. elegans</it>, and this information will help broaden our knowledge on the mechanism of hypoxia response.</p

BackgroundThe transcriptomic studies targeting circular RNAs (circRNAs) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) exosomes of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients caused by severe pneumonia have rarely been reported. This study aimed to screen and validate abnormally expressed circRNAs in exosomes from BALF of patients with ARDS caused by severe pneumonia and then evaluate the diagnostic values of these circRNAs for ARDS.MethodBALF was collected from four patients with ARDS caused by severe pneumonia and four healthy subjects. CircRNA expression profile was obtained by microarray analysis in BALF exosomes of the discovery cohort. The differentially expressed circRNAs in BALF exosomes were verified by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and underwent competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network construction and functional enrichment analysis.ResultsA total of 629 circRNAs were differentially expressed in BALF exosomes between ARDS patients and healthy subjects. Nine differentially expressed circRNAs were validated by RT-qPCR, and seven were consistent with the results of microarray analysis. CeRNA network analysis was performed for hsa_circRNA_002809, hsa_circRNA_042882, and hsa_circRNA_104034. Functional enrichment analysis showed that the target genes were mainly associated with hypoxia-induced damage, inflammatory response, and the HIF-1 signaling pathway. Hsa_circRNA_042882 and hsa_circRNA_104034 can be regarded as promising diagnostic biomarkers for patients with ARDS caused by severe pneumonia, with remarkable sensitivity and specificity of the area under the curve of 0.8050 and 1 or 0.835 and 0.799, respectively.ConclusionThis study obtained circRNA expression profiles of ARDS patients, and hsa_circRNA_042882 and hsa_circRNA_104034 were regarded as promising diagnostic biomarkers for patients with ARDS caused by severe pneumonia

The Effect of Chinese Herbal Medicine on Quality of Life and Exercise Tolerance in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Background: Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has a good effect of alleviating symptoms and improving quality of life and exercise tolerance in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), but it wasn't sufficiently valued and promoted because of the lack of evidence-based medical evidence.Aim: To systematically review the effect of CHM on quality of life and exercise tolerance in patients with HFpEF.Methods: We conducted a systematic literature search for Chinese and English studies in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database, Wanfang Data, and China Science and Technology Journal Database. Databases were searched using terms relating to or describing CHM, HFpEF and randomized controlled trials, without any exclusion criteria for other types of diseases or disorders. Literature retrieval, data extraction, and risk of bias assessments were performed independently by two investigators. Differences were resolved by consensus. RevMan 5.3.0 was used for data analysis. Quantitative synthesis was used when the included studies were sufficiently homogeneous and subgroup analyses were performed for studies with different sample sizes and blind methods. GRADEpro was used to grade the available evidence to minimize bias in our findings. Results: Seventeen studies with 2,724 patients were enrolled in this review. ROB assessments showed a relatively high selection and performance bias. Meta-analyses showed that compared with conventional western medicine, combined CHM and conventional western medicine could significantly improve 6-min walk distance (MD = 52.13, 95% CI [46.91, 57.34], P &lt; 0.00001), and it seemed to be more effective as compared with combined placebo and conventional western medicine. Similar results were observed for quality of life and the results were better in a larger sample. The GRADEpro showed a very low to moderate level of the available evidence. Conclusion: Combined CHM and conventional western medicine might be effective to improve exercise tolerance and quality of life in HFpEF patients, but new well-designed studies with larger sample size, strict randomization, and clear description about detection and reporting processes are needed to further strengthen this evidence

Enhancement of Intracavity-Pumped Terahertz Parametric Oscillator Power by Adopting Diode-Side Pumped Configuration Based on KTiOPO4 Crystal

    No full text
In this paper, a KTiOPO4 (KTP) crystal is used as the nonlinear medium in an intracavity-pumped terahertz parametric oscillator (TPO) based on stimulated polariton scattering (SPS). Almost all the reported intracavity SPS sources adopt the diode-end pumped configuration, and the THz output power is limited by the serious thermal effect and small fundamental beam size. For improving the THz output power, we propose diode-side pumping for the laser medium to get a higher fundamental power and a larger fundamental beam size. A convex&ndash;plane fundamental laser resonator is used to further offset the thermal effect and increase the fundamental beam size. The THz frequency of the intracavity-pumped KTP terahertz parametric oscillator can be discontinuously tuned from 3.19 THz to 5.94 THz with three gaps. The fundamental beam diameter in the KTP crystal is about 1.3 mm. The maximum average THz power is 166 &mu;W at 5.74 THz under a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of 6 kHz and a diode pump power of 98 W. By means of the diode-side pumped configuration, the maximum THz output power is more than two-fold higher compared to the diode-end pumped configuration reported using the KTP crystal

In order to explore the influence mechanism of polyacrylamide on the compressibility of lime-stabilized soil, polyacrylamide with different contents was added to lime-stabilized soil, and the relationship between the consolidation coefficient and the consolidation pressure was obtained through one-dimensional laboratory consolidation experiment, and samples were taken for nitrogen adsorption experiment and observation with solid microscope. The results show that the microscopic image shows that the reaction of polyacrylamide with lime will form a spatial network structure; 0.24% polyacrylamide can effectively reduce the compression of lime stabilized soil, and the porosity ratio of solidified soil can be increased by 15.4%, and the consolidation rate can be accelerated by 413.2%. The pore volume distribution shows that the addition of polyacrylamide to lime stabilized soil can reduce the mesopore volume of the solidified soil and produce ultra-large pores. At the same time, the porosity ratio of the solidified soil is increased, which is beneficial to the drainage of super-pore water in the soil, accelerate the consolidation rate of solidified soil, shortens the time of consolidation and stability of the soil
