    A finite element analysis of an electromagnetic flow control valve

    The behavior of an electromagnetic control valve under a perturbative magnetic field is evaluated. The electromagnetic valve is numerically modeled by means of a nonlinear 2D field-element code. The electromagnetic force produced on the valve's plug is obtained using the Maxwell stress tensor approach, under both normal and perturbed conditions. The numerical results are compared with those of experimental tests, which have been carried out under the same conditions as the numerical analysis

    Evaluation of disrupted operations due to voltage dips on industriai processes depends on th\ue8 interaction between equipment sensitivities and characteristics of expected voltage dips on th\ue8 electrical network. In case of continuous processes, a multi-motor System driven by a series of adjustable speed drives is required in order to regulate and to maintain Constant th\ue8 characteristics of th\ue8 end product. In th\ue8 paper an alternative electrical scheme for reducing high sensitivities of ASD to voltage dips is proposed and compared with a traditional approach. Finally, costs and benefits of th\ue8 proposed solution is discussed for th\ue8 case of a paper industry, taken as typical example of multi-motor continuous process
