Evaluating the affected the factors of research in Ilam university of Medical Sciences during 2006-2011
Research is one of the most important parameter in developing of each country, for this .... Universities are of most importance. The faculty members are more interested in education rather than research due to different factors. The current study aimed to evaluate such factors among the faculty members of Ilam university of Medical Sciences during 2006 until 2011. This is a retrospective cross-sectional study based on data collected by a questionnaire and interview. Data analyzed using descriptive statistics by SPSS package 18. Totally a research projects from researchers was enrolled in this study of which 74.6 men and 93.4 were married. 59.6 of researchers has BSc (51.1), MSc and PhD (31.9) and 16.6 worked of educational Deputy of this university. Accessing to scientific data banks, and lack of English language skills were among the most effective factors n research and satisfaction of researchers while good communication with staff of university research Department was in high importance
Aqueous extract of Echlum amoenum elevate CSF serotonin and dopamine level in depression rat
Based on a traditional belief, Echlum amoenum (Boraginaceae) dried flowers are used In Iran as an anxiolytic remedy and also as a mood enhancer. But Interfering mechanisms unknown, In this study, efficacy of an aqueous extract of E.amoenum in depressive rat was evaluated, using measurement the changes level CSF serotonin and dopamine as indicator mood. Four groups of male wistar rats each group of seven rats were enrolled in this study. Depressive induced with intraperitoneal injection of reserpine (5mg/kg) and assessment depression by swimming test, the next two weeks of oral performing aqueous extract Echlum amoenum, CSF serotonin and dopamine concentration of rats were measured using ELISA kit. Our finding indicated, performing aqueous extract Echlum amoenum increased CSF serotonin and dopamine concentration in depression rats. The level of CSF serotonin enhanced in control group receiving Echlum amoenum compared control group alone. These results showed the serious changes of neurotransmitters due to Echlum amoenum which can be translated as mood enhancer. It can be concluded, Echlum amoenum induce antidepressant effective In part by increasing level CSF serotonin and dopamine
Effects of prenatal exposure to different colors on offsprings mood
Objective(s): There is much evidence indicating that depression is influenced by the levels of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, GABA and adrenaline. The current study we designed to investigate the effect of exposure of pregnant rats to different colors on neurotransmitters level, as indicators of mood disorders in off springs. Materials and Methods: Five groups of pregnant female Wistar rats (eight rats in each group) were enrolled in this study. Dopamine, adrenaline and GABA concentration in sera of rats were measured using ELISA. Results: The colors black and red elevated the GABA levels in serum and CSF while the colors green and blue decreased the GABA levels. The colors black and red also decreased the sera and CSF levels of dopamine compared to the control group. The concentration of adrenaline was increased following exposure to the colors black, red and blue but decreased only following color green exposure. These results showed serious changes in neurotransmitter levels due to exposure to different colors which can be translated as mood and behavior changes. Conclusion: It can be concluded that exposure during pregnancy can lead to postpartum behavioral changes even at adulthood and such changes can be made by colors
