This paper intends to examine the possible relationship between demographic variables and perceptions of happiness. The demographic variables being studied are age and gender. Perceptions of happiness are measured by the Conceptions of Happiness Scale (Joshanloo, 2018) and represent one’s overall idea of happiness. A survey was distributed to adults that were recruited via social media and flyer recruitment on the campus of Lindenwood University. The survey consisted of demographic questions as well as the Conceptions of Happiness Scale (Joshanloo, 2018) for participants to complete. Initial hypotheses predicted differences in perceptions of happiness amongst different age and gender groups. However, an inadequate amount of data collected resulted in an inability to conduct a one-way analysis of variance, as planned. Descriptive analyses were conducted and found a slightly higher sum of the scale scores for women and middle-aged participants in comparison to their counterparts. The study will remain open until adequate data is collected to continue data analysis and determine whether there are different in the perceptions of happiness of people of different age and gender groups

The purpose of the proposed study is to investigate how people of different ages and gender perceive happiness, or what their idea of happiness is. The study will be conducted via survey and participants will be recruited through social media platforms (Twitter and Instagram) and physical flyers distributed on the campus of Lindenwood University. Anyone who is an adult (18 years or older) will be allowed to participate in the study by completing the survey. The survey will begin by asking participants to identify their age and gender. Then, participants will be asked to complete the Conceptions of Happiness Scale (Joshanloo et al., 2018) to measure their perceptions of happiness. The scale consists of 19 items that are often associated with how happy an individual is. Participants will rate on a scale of 1-7 how much this item contributes to their overall happiness. Information collected from this study will provide insight into different perspectives regarding happiness of individuals and how our demographics may relate to it

This poster displays the concept of mental imagery and its relationship to spirituality and religion. Mental imagery is first defined, and its usages and functions are explained. The five principles of mental imagery by Finke (1989) are discussed to understand the complexity of mental imagery. This poster showcases the neurological side of mental imagery, including the role of the cerebral cortex and the pineal gland. It also explains what can stimulate and inhibit mental imagery. The overarching connection between mental imagery and spirituality is shown. Research on ancient religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism is described to show how concepts such as mental imagery and “the third eye” have been used throughout centuries. Lastly, the poster touches on how practicing mindfulness, meditation, and manifesting influence both spirituality and mental imagery. Overall, this poster showcases the concept of mental imagery and its strong ties with the universe, religion, and spirituality

The Relationship Between Demographic Variables and Life Satisfaction of College Students

This paper explains a research proposal on the relationship between demographic variables and life satisfaction of college students. The variables being measured are gender, race, socioeconomic class, and college majors. A literature review was conducted to examine previous research on these variables in relation to life satisfaction. A relationship between these variables was found throughout the research studies that were analyzed. The proposed methodology for this research is a survey distributed to students at Lindenwood University. The survey will consist of four demographic questions as well as the Riverside Life Satisfaction Scale (Margolis et al., 2019) for participants to complete. A scale has been created to assess the results by labeling participants as having low, medium, or high satisfaction with life. There are many benefits of conducting this research that are discussed throughout this proposal. This research will contribute to a better understanding of possible factors that may contribute to one’s overall satisfaction with life
