Trade Liberalization and Trade Performance of Environmental Goods: Evidence from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Members

    Get PDF
In this article, we study the impact of trade liberalization, including reductions in both tariff and nontariff trade barriers, on environmental goods (EGs) exports. Using bilateral trade data from 20 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation members, we find that tariff reduction in an exporting country has a larger positive impact on its exports of EGs than tariff reduction in an importing country. Our results also show that a lower nontariff barrier in an importing country increases its imports of EGs. A considerable amount of heterogeneity also exists in subsample results based on countries’ income levels

Glueball Masses from Hamiltonian Lattice QCD

We calculate the masses of the 0++0^{++}, 0−−0^{--} and 1+−1^{+-} glueballs from QCD in 3+1 dimensions using an eigenvalue equation method for Hamiltonian lattice QCD developed and described elsewhere by the authors. The mass ratios become approximately constants in the coupling region 6/g2∈[6.0,6.4]6/g^2 \in [6.0,6.4], from which we estimate M(0−−)/M(0++)=2.44±0.05±0.20M(0^{--})/M(0^{++})=2.44 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.20 and M(1+−)/M(0++)=1.91±0.05±0.12M(1^{+-})/M(0^{++})=1.91 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.12.Comment: 12 pages, Latex, figures to be sent upon reques

Source Mechanism and Seismic Effect of Tangshan Earthquake

    Get PDF
By analyzing the seismic mechanism of the Tangshan earthquake and its pattern of movement through the study of ground deformation and ground strain of the Tangshan earthquake area it is clear that the breeding and occurrence of this event are controlled by a long-term intense active fault zone. By the ground deformation, displacement, tectonic features and seismic effects after the event, this causative fault is known to be composed of a group of NNE trending right turn strike-slip faults and thus we call it the Tangshan active fault zone

    Triaqua-1κ3 O-μ-cyanido-1:2κ2 N:C-pentacyanido-2κ5 C-tetrakis(dimethylformamide-1κO)-1-holmium(III)-2-iron(III) monohydrate

In the bimetallic cyanide-bridged title complex, [Fe0.98HoRu0.02(CN)6(C3H7NO)4(H2O)3]·H2O, the HoIII ion is in a slightly distorted square-antiprismatic arrangement formed by seven O atoms from four dimethylformamide (DMF) molecules and three water molecules, and one N atom from a bridging cyanide group connected with the FeIII atom which is octahedrally coordinated by six cyanide groups. In the crystal, molecules are held together through O—H⋯N and O—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional framework. Elemental analysis of one of the precursors and the crystal shows that there is a slight contamination of Fe by Ru. The Fe site displays, therefore, small substitutional disorder with site-occupancy factors Fe/Ru = 0.98:0.02. The two methyl groups of two dimethylformamide ligands are positionally disordered with site-occupancy factors of 0.44 (3):0.56 (3) and 0.44 (3):0.56 (3)

Grain boundary ferromagnetism in vanadium-doped In2_2O3_3 thin films

Room temperature ferromagnetism was observed in In2_2O3thinfilmsdopedwith5at.temperaturesrangingfrom300to600_3 thin films doped with 5 at.% vanadium, prepared by pulsed laser deposition at substrate temperatures ranging from 300 to 600 \,^{\circ}{\rm C}.X−rayabsorptionfinestructuremeasurementindicatedthatvanadiumwassubstitutionallydissolvedintheIn. X-ray absorption fine structure measurement indicated that vanadium was substitutionally dissolved in the In_2OO_3$ host lattice, thus excluding the existence of secondary phases of vanadium compounds. Magnetic measurements based on SQUID magnetometry and magnetic circular dichroism confirm that the magnetism is at grain boundaries and also in the grains. The overall magnetization originates from the competing effects between grains and grain boundaries.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures, 1 table, accepted by Europhysics Letter
