    The fast synchronization problem for a class of complex dynamical networks with time varying delay by means of periodically intermittent control is studied. Based on the finite-time stability theory and periodically intermittent control technique, some sufficient synchronization criteria are obtained to guarantee the fast synchronization. Furthermore, the essential condition for guaranteeing periodically intermittent control realized in finite time is given in this paper.     Ball Mill Fault Prediction Based on Deep Convolutional Auto-Encoding Network

    Ball mills play a critical role in modern mining operations, making their bearing failures a significant concern due to the potential loss of production efficiency and economic consequences. This paper presents an anomaly detection method based on Deep Convolutional Auto-encoding Neural Networks (DCAN) for addressing the issue of ball mill bearing fault detection. The proposed approach leverages vibration data collected during normal operation for training, overcoming challenges such as labeling issues and data imbalance often encountered in supervised learning methods. DCAN includes the modules of convolutional feature extraction and transposed convolutional feature reconstruction, demonstrating exceptional capabilities in signal processing and feature extraction. Additionally, the paper describes the practical deployment of the DCAN-based anomaly detection model for bearing fault detection, utilizing data from the ball mill bearings of Wuhan Iron & Steel Resources Group and fault data from NASA's bearing vibration dataset. Experimental results validate the DCAN model's reliability in recognizing fault vibration patterns. This method holds promise for enhancing bearing fault detection efficiency, reducing production interruptions, and lowering maintenance costs.Comment: 9 pages, 11 figure

    Naringenin suppresses BEAS-2B-derived extracellular vesicular cargoes disorder caused by cigarette smoke extract thereby inhibiting M1 macrophage polarization

    Extracellular vesicles (EVs)-mediated epithelium-macrophage crosstalk has been proved to maintain lung homeostasis in cigarette smoke-induced lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In our previous study, we found that EVs derived from cigarette smoke extract (CSE) treated BEAS-2B promoted M1 macrophage polarization, which probably accelerated the development of inflammatory responses. Naringenin has been proved to suppress M1 macrophage polarization, but whether naringenin regulates macrophage polarization mediated by EVs has not been reported. In this study, we firstly found that EVs derived from naringenin and CSE co-treated BEAS-2B significantly inhibited the expression of CD86 and CD80 and the secretion of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and IL-12 in macrophage induced by EVs derived from CSE-treated BEAS-2B. Further research revealed that naringenin downregulated BEAS-2B-derived EVs miR-21-3p which targeted phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten/protein kinase B (PTEN/AKT) cascade in macrophages and then suppressed M1 macrophage polarization. Subsequent proteomics suggested that naringenin decreased BEAS-2B-derived EVs poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP)1 expression thereby suppressing M1 macrophage polarization probably. Our study provides novel pharmacological references for the mechanism of naringenin in the treatment of cigarette smoke-induced lung inflammatory diseases

    Detection and analysis of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA in breast cancer patients by an effective method of HPV capture

    Despite an increase in the number of molecular epidemiological studies conducted in recent years to evaluate the association between human papillomavirus (HPV) and the risk of breast carcinoma, these studies remain inconclusive. Here we aim to detect HPV DNA in various tissues from patients with breast carcinoma using the method of HPV capture combined with massive paralleled sequencing (MPS). To validate the confidence of our methods, 15 cervical cancer samples were tested by PCR and the new method. Results showed that there was 100% consistence between the two methods.DNA from peripheral blood, tumor tissue, adjacent lymph nodes and adjacent normal tissue were collected from seven malignant breast cancer patients, and HPV type 16(HPV16) was detected in 1/7, 1/7, 1/7and 1/7 of patients respectively. Peripheral blood, tumor tissue and adjacent normal tissue were also collected from two patients with benign breast tumor, and 1/2, 2/2 and 2/2 was detected to have HPV16 DNA respectively. MPS metrics including mapping ratio, coverage, depth and SNVs were provided to characterize HPV in samples. The average coverage was 69% and 61.2% for malignant and benign samples respectively. 126 SNVs were identified in all 9 samples. The maximum number of SNVs was located in the gene of E2 and E4 among all samples. Our study not only provided an efficient method to capture HPV DNA, but detected the SNVS, coverage, SNV type and depth. The finding has provided further clue of association between HPV16 and breast cancer

    Negative Elongation Factor Controls Energy Homeostasis in Cardiomyocytes

    SummaryNegative elongation factor (NELF) is known to enforce promoter-proximal pausing of RNA polymerase II (Pol II), a pervasive phenomenon observed across multicellular genomes. However, the physiological impact of NELF on tissue homeostasis remains unclear. Here, we show that whole-body conditional deletion of the B subunit of NELF (NELF-B) in adult mice results in cardiomyopathy and impaired response to cardiac stress. Tissue-specific knockout of NELF-B confirms its cell-autonomous function in cardiomyocytes. NELF directly supports transcription of those genes encoding rate-limiting enzymes in fatty acid oxidation (FAO) and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. NELF also shares extensively transcriptional target genes with peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα), a master regulator of energy metabolism in the myocardium. Mechanistically, NELF helps stabilize the transcription initiation complex at the metabolism-related genes. Our findings strongly indicate that NELF is part of the PPARα-mediated transcription regulatory network that maintains metabolic homeostasis in cardiomyocytes

    A novel strategy for power sources management in connected plug-in hybrid electric vehicles based on mobile edge computation framework

    This paper proposes a novel control framework and the corresponding strategy for power sources management in connected plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (cPHEVs). A mobile edge computation (MEC) based control framework is developed first, evolving the conventional on-board vehicle control unit (VCU) into the hierarchically asynchronous controller that is partly located in cloud. Elaborately contrastive analysis on the performance of processing capacity, communication frequency and communication delay manifests dramatic potential of the proposed framework in sustaining development of the cooperative control strategy for cPHEVs. On the basis of MEC based control framework, a specific cooperative strategy is constructed. The novel strategy accomplishes energy flow management between different power sources with incorporation of the active energy consumption plan and adaptive energy consumption management. The method to generate the reference battery state-of-charge (SOC) trajectories in energy consumption plan stage is emphatically investigated, fast outputting reference trajectories that are tightly close to results by global optimization methods. The estimation of distribution algorithm (EDA) is employed to output reference control policies under the specific terminal conditions assigned via the machine learning based method. Finally, simulation results highlight that the novel strategy attains superior performance in real-time application that is close to the offline global optimization solutions

    The insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism in the Angiotensin-converting enzyme gene and cancer risk: a meta-analysis

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism in the <it>Angiotensin-converting enzyme </it>(<it>ACE</it>) gene has been implicated in susceptibility to cancer, but a large number of studies have reported inconclusive results. The aim of this study is to assess the association between the I/D polymorphism in the <it>ACE </it>gene and cancer risk by meta-analysis.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>A search was performed in Pubmed database, Embase database, Chinese Biomedical (CBM) database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database and Weipu database, covering all studies until August 31, 2010. Statistical analysis was performed by using Revman4.2 and STATA 10.0.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>A total of 25 case-control studies comprising 3914 cancer patients and 11391 controls were identified. No significant association was found between the I/D polymorphism and over all cancer risks (OR = 0.88, 95%CI = 0.73-1.06, P = 0.17 for DD+DI vs. II). In the subgroup analysis by ethnicity, no significant association was found among Asians and Europeans for the comparison of DD+DI vs. II. In the subgroup analysis by cancer types, no significant associations were found among lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer for the comparison of DD+DI vs. II. Results from other comparative genetic models also indicated the lack of associations between this polymorphism and cancer risks.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>This meta-analysis suggested that the <it>ACE </it>D/I polymorphism might not contribute to the risk of cancer.</p
