    No full text
Buckling and postbuckling response of thin-walled composite plates investigated experimentally and determinated analytically and numerically is compared. Real dimension specimens of composite plates weakened by cut-out subjected to uniform compression in laboratory buckling tests have been modelled in the finite element method and examined analytically based on P-w2 and P-w3 methods. All results were obtained during the experimental investigations and the numerical FEM analysis of a thin-walled composite plate made of a carbon鈥揺poxy laminate with a symmetrical eight-layer arrangement of [90/-45/45/0]s. The instrument used for this purpose was a numerical ABAQUS庐 program

This paper presents the results of a numerical analysis conducted to investigate uniformly compressed rectangular plates with different cut-out sizes. Made of high strength steel, the plates are articulatedly supported on their shorter edges. The FEM analysis examines the nonlinear stability of these structures in the post-buckling state, where the mode of buckling is forced to ensure their stable behaviour. The numerical computations are performed within the geometrically nonlinear range until the yield point is reached. The investigation involves determining the effect of cut-out sizes on elastic properties of the plates with respect to service loads. The numerical analysis is conducted using the ABAQUS software.Przedmiotem bada艅 s膮 prostok膮tne p艂yty z wyci臋ciem o zmiennych parametrach geometrycznych poddane r贸wnomiernemu 艣ciskaniu. Preliminary model performed in CATIA V5, while the MES tests carried out in an Abaqus 6.10. Stress levels are shown in most of the designed elements. the main attention is focused on components whose values of the stress exceed the yield strength at a given load. The stresses are induced by axial force acting directly on the crown of scissor jack. Numerical analysis allowed for isolating sensitive areas within the tested model. FEA provide a powerful tool for structural strength calculations . Reduced stress distribution determined by testing the hypothesis Huber-Mises-Hencky were compared with the material properties of the model. Numerical calculations were the basis to determine the strength of the mechanism

Thin-walled steel elements in the form of openwork columns with variable geometrical parameters of holes were studied. The samples of thin-walled composite columns were modelled numerically. They were subjected to axial compression to examine their behavior in the critical and post-critical state. The numerical models were articulately supported on the upper and lower edges of the cross-section of the profiles. The numerical analysis was conducted only with respect to the non-linear stability of the structure. The FEM analysis was performed until the material achieved its yield stress. This was done to force the loss of stability by the structures. The numerical analysis was performed using the ABAQUS庐 software. The numerical analysis was performed only for the elastic range to ensure the operating stability of the tested thin-walled structures

The object of this study is a thin-walled channel-section profile made of a carbon-epoxy composite subjected to axial compression. The study included analysis of the critical and weakly post-critical behaviour using experimental and numerical methods. As a result of the research conducted on a physical model of the structure, we determined a post-critical equilibrium path, which was then used to determine the critical load by approximation methods. Simultaneously, numerical calculations were performed by the finite element method. Their scope included a linear analysis of eigenvalue problems, the results of which led to determination of the critical load for the developed numerical model. The second step of the calculations consisted in performing a nonlinear analysis of the structure with geometrically initiated imperfection corresponding to the lowest buckling mode of the investigated profile. The numerical results were compared with the experimental findings, revealing that the developed numerical model of the structure was correct. The numerical simulations were performed using the ABAQUS庐 software.Przedmiotem bada艅 jest cienko艣cienny profil o przekroju ceowym, wykonany z kompozytu w臋glowo-epoksydowego, poddany osiowemu 艣ciskaniu. Horizontal insulating barriers as a way to protect groundwater

    No full text
Trenchless Technology of Forming Horizontal Insulating Barriers (TFHB) can be considered a method of groundwater protection against inflow of pollutants. In TFHB technology, the working fluid (sodium silicate solution) and the gelling agent (CO2) are injected separately, using one tool, to different zones of the aquifer profile. Carbon dioxide injected into the saturation zone rises due to buoyancy forces and reaches the silicate which was injected at the water table level. This initiates the process of silicate gelation, resulting in the formation of an insulating barrier. For technological purposes, the gelation time must be controlled, and the resulting gel must have certain mechanical properties. In order to apply THFB in real conditions it was necessary to identify important technological and technical parameters, as well as to define interactions between the injected fluid and the aquifer rocks. Geochemical modelling (equilibrium, reaction path and reactive transport) was used to identify potential geochemical effects of the application of TFHB in sandy aquifers. Certain petrophysical parameters and mineralogical assemblages of aquifers were addressed, taking into account both low and strongly mineralized groundwater. The simulations revealed that TFHB does not have a negative impact on the chemistry of rock-water systems described in this work
