    Effects of graphic health warnings on the smoking behavior of adolescents

    This study utilized the non-equivalent pre-test-post test quasi-experimental design. Sixty (60) adolescents were chosen as respondents using purposive and judgmental sampling technique from selected barangays in the City of Imus, Cavite. A self-made questionnaire composed of a personal information sheet and assessment of the smoking behavior of adolescents was used to obtain data. Frequency distribution, mean and t-test were applied in statistical analysis. The study found out that, 1) Majority of the respondents were male, high school student and belonged to nuclear families having a monthly family income of Php10,000 or below; 2) Majority of the respondents in the comparison group has a good smoking behavior both during the pre-test and the post-test. While the treatment group, majority of the respondents have good smoking behavior during the pre-test as well as after the administration of the intervention. However, there was a slight increase in the mean; 3) There was no significant difference in the smoking behavior of the respondents before and after the implementation of graphic health warnings in the comparison and treatment groups
