Spin distribution measurement for 64Ni + 100Mo at near and above barrier energies

    Get PDF
Spin distribution measurements were performed for the reaction 64Ni + 100Mo at three beam energies ranging from 230 to 260 MeV. Compound nucleus (CN) spin distributions were obtained channel selective for each evaporation residue populated by the de-excitation cascade. A comparison of the spin distribution at different beam energies indicates that its slope becomes steeper and steeper with increasing beam energy. This change in slope of the spin distribution is mainly due to the onset of fission competition with particle evaporation at higher beam energies

The new isotope "2"7"0110 and its decay products "2"6"6Hs and "2"6"2Sg

The even-even nucleus "2"7"0110 was synthesized using the reaction "6"4Ni + "2"0"7Pb. A total of eight #alpha#-decay chains was measured during an irradiation time of seven days. Decay data were obtained for the ground-state and a high spin K isomer. The new nuclei "2"6"6Hs and "2"6"2Sg were identified as daughter products after #alpha# decay. Spontaneous fission of "2"6"2Sg terminates the decay chain. The measured data are in agreement with calculations using the macroscopic-microscopic model and with self-consistent HFB calculations with Skyrme-Sly4 interaction. Alpha-gamma decay studies of 247^{247}Md

International audienceAlpha decay and spontaneous fission of the ground-state and the isomeric state of 247Md were investigated with specific emphasis to identify the ground-state of the daughter nucleus 243Es. The decay studies were accompanied by measuring α-γ coincidences. On the basis of the measured data an improved decay scheme of 247Md is proposed. Spontaneous fission half-lives of 247gMd and 247mMd were determined and the fission hindrance of the high spin ground-state (7/2−) relative to the low spin isomeric state (1/2−) was estimated

New results on elements 111 and 112

Experiments on the synthesis and identification of the nuclei "2"7"2111 and "2"7"7112 were performed in order to confirm previous results. Three additional decay chains were measured in the reaction "6"4Ni + "2"0"9Bi #-># "2"7"3111"*. The study revealed considerably improved data on the decay chain originating from "2"7"2111. One additional chain was measured in the reaction "7"0Zn + "2"0"8Pb #-># "2"7"8112"*. The decay properties of the chain starting at "2"7"7112 are in excellent agreement with the second chain of the first experiment down to "2"6"5Sg, where the new chain ends by a previously unknown spontaneous-fission branch. A re-analysis of all data on elements 110, 111, and 112 measured at GSI since 1994 (a total of 34 decay chains was investigated) revealed that for 2 chains (second chain of "2"6"9110 measured in 1994 and first chain of "2"7"7112 measured in 1996) the results of the new analysis differed from the previous one. In all other cases the earlier data are exactly reproduced.
