Transverse momentum distributions and their forward- backward correlations in the percolating colour string approach
The forward-backward correlations in the distributions, which present a
clear signature of non-linear effects in particle production, are studied in
the model of percolating colour strings. Quantitative predictions are given for
these correlations at SPS, RHIC and LHC energies. Interaction of strings also
naturally explains the flattening of distributions and increase of

Focus on Internal Urethrotomy as Primary Treatment for Untreated Bulbar Urethral Strictures: Results from a Multivariable Analysis
Background: The use of internal urethrotomy for treatment of urethral stricture remains a controversial topic in urology.Objective: To investigate outcomes and predictors of failure for internal urethrotomy as primary treatment for untreated bulbar urethral strictures.Design, setting, and participants: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent internal urethrotomy. Patients with bulbar urethral stricture who did not receive any previous treatment were included. Patients with traumatic, penile or posterior urethral strictures, lichen sclerosus, failed hypospadias repair, or stricture length >4 cm were excluded.Outcome measurements and statistical analysis: The primary outcome was treatment failure. Kaplan-Meyer plots were used to depict treatment failure-free survival. Univariate and multivariable Cox regression analyses were used to test the association between predictors (age, body mass index, diabetes, history of smoking, etiology, stenosis type and length, preoperative maximum flow [pQ(max)]) and treatment failure.Results and limitations: Overall, 136 patients were included. The median stricture length was 2 cm. Median follow-up was 55 mo. At 5-yr follow-up the failure-free survival rate was 57%. On univariate analysis, diabetes, nonidiopathic etiology, stricture length of 3-4 cm, and pQ(max) were significantly associated with treatment failure. These predictors were included in a multivariable analysis, in which pQ(max) was the only significant predictor of treatment failure.Conclusions: Failure of internal urethrotomy for untreated bulbar urethral strictures greatly depends on pQ(max) flow at uroflowmetry. Patients with pQ(max >) 8 ml/s have a high probability of success, while patients with pQ(max) <5 ml/s have a low probability of success.Patient summary: The use of internal urethrotomy in patients with an untreated bulbar urethral stricture should only be considered in selected cases. Clan Structure Analysis and Rapidity Gap Probability
Clan structure analysis in rapidity intervals is generalized from negative
binomial multiplicity distribution to the wide class of compound Poisson
distributions. The link of generalized clan structure analysis with correlation
functions is also established. These theoretical results are then applied to
minimum bias events and evidentiate new interesting features, which can be
inspiring and useful in order to discuss data on rapidity gap probability at

Charged-Particle Multiplicity in Proton-Proton Collisions
This article summarizes and critically reviews measurements of
charged-particle multiplicity distributions and pseudorapidity densities in
p+p(pbar) collisions between sqrt(s) = 23.6 GeV and sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV. Related
theoretical concepts are briefly introduced. Moments of multiplicity
distributions are presented as a function of sqrt(s). Feynman scaling, KNO
scaling, as well as the description of multiplicity distributions with a single
negative binomial distribution and with combinations of two or more negative
binomial distributions are discussed. Moreover, similarities between the energy
dependence of charged-particle multiplicities in p+p(pbar) and e+e- collisions
are studied. Finally, various predictions for pseudorapidity densities, average
multiplicities in full phase space, and multiplicity distributions of charged
particles in p+p(pbar) collisions at the LHC energies of sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, 10

The low energy spectrum of TeO2 bolometers: results and dark matter perspectives for the CUORE-0 and CUORE experiments
We collected 19.4 days of data from four 750 g TeO2 bolometers, and in three
of them we were able to set the energy threshold around 3 keV using a new
analysis technique. We found a background rate ranging from 25 cpd/keV/kg at 3
keV to 2 cpd/keV/kg at 25 keV, and a peak at 4.7 keV. The origin of this peak
is presently unknown, but its presence is confirmed by a reanalysis of 62.7
kg.days of data from the finished CUORICINO experiment. Finally, we report the
expected sensitivities of the CUORE0 (52 bolometers) and CUORE (988 bolometers)
experiments to a WIMP annual modulation signal.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figure
Measurement of the p\bar{p}\sqrt{s}$ = 1.8 TeV
We update the measurement of the top production cross section using the CDF
detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. This measurement uses decays to
the final states +jets and +jets. We search for quarks from
decays via secondary-vertex identification or the identification of
semileptonic decays of the and cascade quarks. The background to the
production is determined primarily through a Monte Carlo simulation.
However, we calibrate the simulation and evaluate its uncertainty using several
independent data samples. For a top mass of 175 , we measure
pb and pb using
the secondary vertex and the lepton tagging algorithms, respectively. Finally,
we combine these results with those from other decay channels and
