Asteroseismology of delta Scuti stars in open clusters: Praesepe
The present paper provides a general overview of the asteroseismic potential
of delta Scuti stars in clusters, in particular focusing on convection
diagnostics. We give a summarise of the last results obtained by the authors
for the Praesepe cluster of which five delta Scuti stars are analysed. In that
work, linear analysis is confronted with observations, using refined
descriptions for the effects of rotation on the determination of the global
stellar parameters and on the adiabatic oscillation frequency computations. A
single, complete, and coherent solution for all the selected stars is found,
which lead the authors to find important restrictions to the convection
description for a certain range of effective temperatures. Furthermore, the
method used allowed to give an estimate of the global parameters of the

Finite-size scaling for the left-current correlator with non-degenerate quark masses
We study the volume dependence of the left-current correlator with
non-degenerate quark masses to next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion.
We consider three possible regimes: all quark masses are in the
-regime, all are in the -regime and a mixed-regime where the
lighest quark masses satisfy while the heavier . These results can be used to match lattice QCD and the Chiral
Effective Theory in a large but finite box in which the Compton wavelength of
the lightest pions is of the order of the box size. We consider both the full

One-loop effective potential in M4 x T2 with and without 't Hooft flux
We review the basic notions of compactification in the presence of a
background flux. In extra-dimentional models with more than five dimensions,
Scherk and Schwarz boundary conditions have to satisfy 't Hooft consistency
conditions. Different vacuum configurations can be obtained, depending whether
trivial or non-trivial 't Hooft flux is considered. The presence of the
"magnetic" background flux provide, in addition, a mechanism for producing
four-dimensional chiral fermions. Particularizing to the six-dimensional case,
we calculate the one-loop effective potential for a U(N) gauge theory on M4 x
T2. We firstly review the well known results of the trivial 't Hooft flux case,
where one-loop contributions produce the usual Hosotani dynamical symmetry
breaking. Finally we applied our result for describing, for the first time, the
one-loop contributions in the non-trivial 't Hooft flux case

Room temperature ferromagnetic-like behavior in Mn-implanted and post-annealed InAs layers deposited by Molecular Beam Epitaxy
We report on the magnetic and structural properties of Ar and Mn implanted
InAs epitaxial films grown on GaAs (100) by Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) and
the effect of Rapid Thermal Annealing (RTA) for 30 seconds at 750C. Channeling
Particle Induced X- ray Emission (PIXE) experiments reveal that after Mn
implantation almost all Mn atoms are subsbtitutional in the In-site of the InAs
lattice, like in a diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS). All of these samples
show diamagnetic behavior. But, after RTA treatment the Mn-InAs films exhibit
room-temperature magnetism. According to PIXE measurements the Mn atoms are no
longer substitutional. When the same set of experiments were performed with As
as implantation ion all of the layers present diamagnetism without exception.
This indicates that the appearance of room-temperature ferromagnetic-like
behavior in the Mn-InAs-RTA layer is not related to lattice disorder produce
during implantation, but to a Mn reaction produced after a short thermal
treatment. X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD) and Rutherford Back Scattering
(RBS) measurements evidence the segregation of an oxygen deficient-MnO2 phase
(nominally MnO1.94) in the Mn-InAs-RTA epitaxial layers which might be on the
origin of room temperature ferromagnetic-like response observed.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures. Acepted in J. Appl. Phy
A discrete linearizability test based on multiscale analysis
In this paper we consider the classification of dispersive linearizable partial difference equations defined on a quad-graph by the multiple scale reduction around their harmonic solution. We show that the A1, A2 and A3 linearizability conditions restrain the number of the parameters which enter into the equation. A subclass of the equations which pass the A3 C-integrability conditions can be linearized by a Möbius transformation
Spontaneous Symmetry Breakdown in non-relativistic Quantum Mechanics
The advantages and disadvantages of some pedagogical non-relativistic
quantum-mechanical models, used to illustrate spontaneous symmetry breakdown,
are discussed. A simple quantum-mechanical toy model (a spinor on the line,
subject to a magnetostatic interaction) is presented, that exhibits the

Neutronic assessment of the IFMIF-DONES HFTM specimen stack distribution
IFMIF-DONES (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility- DEMO Oriented NEutron Source) is a neutron irradiation facility designed to collect data on material irradiation for the construction of demonstration fusion power plants.
This study focuses in investigate the effect of a realistic model of specimens being irradiated in HFTM in IFMIF-DONES, and its comparison with previous results with the homogeneous model. Neutron fluence rate, damage dose rates, and gas production have been calculated for the standard 20 × 5 cm² profile and a 10 × 5 cm² beam size. These calculations were performed for a deuteron beam with an energy of 40 MeV and a current of 125 mA. More realistic neutronics model gives very consistent DPA volumes with the previous. The main difference is a neutron slight streaming in the detailed one. The distribution of DPA shows irregular patterns depending on specimen location. This research highlights the significant role played by specimen distribution in enhancing the accuracy and reliability of dpa measurements within the IFMIF-DONES facility and the influence of the beam size
