    Prediction for Γ(Hτ+τ)/Γ(Hμ+μ)\Gamma(H\to \tau^+\tau^-)/ \Gamma(H\to \mu^+\mu^-) from Non-Abelian Flavor Symmetry

    It is shown that the ratio of branching ratios in Higgs boson decay r=Γ(Hτ+τ)/Γ(Hμ+μ)r = \Gamma(H \to \tau^+\tau^-)/\Gamma(H\to \mu^+\mu^-) in a simplified (T×Z2T^{'} \times Z_2) model is (r)T×Z20.001(r)_{T^{'} \times Z_2} \simeq 0.001. This prediction is on a footing with the successful one in (s,d)(s, d) mixing, tan2Θ12=1/3(2)\tan 2 \Theta_{12} = {1/3}(\sqrt{2}). This value for rr differs from that of the minimal standard model by a very large factor (over 250,000) and can provide a smoking gun for (T×Z2T^{'} \times Z_2) flavor symmetry.Comment: Additional explanation.     Discovery of a new pulsating X-ray source with a 1549.1-s period, AX J183220-0840

    A new pulsating X-ray source, AX J183220-0840, with a 1549.1-s period was discovered at R.A.= 18h32m20s and Dec.=-8d40'30'' (J2000, uncertainty=0.6degree) during an ASCA observation on the Galactic plane. The source was observed two times, in 1997 and in 1999. A phase-averaged X-ray flux of 1.1E-11 ergs cm-2 s-1 and pulsation period of 1549.1+/-0.4 s were consistently obtained from these two observations. The X-ray spectrum was represented by a flat absorbed power-law with a photon-index of =~0.8 and an absorption column density of =~1.3E22 cm-2. Also, a signature of iron K-shell line emission with a centroid of 6.7 keV and an equivalent width of approximately 450 eV was detected. From the pulsation period and the iron-line feature, AX J183220-0840 is likely to be a magnetic white dwarf binary with a complexly absorbed thermal spectrum with a temperature of about 10 keV.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ Letter

    We investigate the pairing property of nuclear matter with Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov(RHB) approach. Recently, the RHB approach has been widely applied to nuclear matter and finite nuclei. We have extended the RHB approach to be able to include non-linear coupling terms of mesons.     Efficient electronic entanglement concentration assisted with single mobile electron

    We present an efficient entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for mobile electrons with charge detection. This protocol is quite different from other ECPs for one can obtain a maximally entangled pair from a pair of less-entangled state and a single mobile electron with a certain probability. With the help of charge detection, it can be repeated to reach a higher success probability. It also does not need to know the coefficient of the original less-entangled states. All these advantages may make this protocol useful in current distributed quantum information processing.Comment: 6pages, 3figure

    Charge-Transfer Excitations in One-Dimensional Dimerized Mott Insulators

    We investigate the optical properties of one-dimensional (1D) dimerized Mott insulators using the 1D dimerized extended Hubbard model. Numerical calculations and a perturbative analysis from the decoupled-dimer limit clarify that there are three relevant classes of charge-transfer (CT) states generated by photoexcitation: interdimer CT unbound states, interdimer CT exciton states, and intradimer CT exciton states. This classification is applied to understanding the optical properties of an organic molecular material, 1,3,5-trithia-2,4,6-triazapentalenyl (TTTA), which is known for its photoinduced transition from the dimerized spin-singlet phase to the regular paramagnetic phase. We conclude that the lowest photoexcited state of TTTA is the interdimer CT exciton state and the second lowest state is the intradimer CT exciton state.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures, to be published in J.     Spatial structure of quark Cooper pairs in a color superconductor

    Spatial structure of Cooper pairs with quantum numbers color 3^*, I=J=L=S=0 in ud 2 flavor quark matter is studied by solving the gap equation and calculating the coherence length in full momentum range without the weak coupling approximation. Although the gap at the Fermi surface and the coherence length depend on density weakly, the shape of the r-space pair wave function varies strongly with density. This result indicates that quark Cooper pairs become more bosonic at higher densities.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures.
