Culture War Skirmishes in Public Schools: The Experiences of Evangelical Christian Administrators
The intent of this exploratory, descriptive narrative inquiry was to understand the experiences of evangelicals serving as public school administrators leading in the midst of culture war skirmishes involving conservative Christians and public schools. The stories of leaders from Texas, Southern California, and the South, the Midwest, and the Pacific Northwest were gathered. Each participant shared a skirmish narrative that included rich descriptions of the cultural and geographic context. In the process, work–faith relationships and the inner worlds of each administrator were also illuminated. Themes were identified within each narrative and across all narratives
Preparing For the Crossfire: Equipping Evangelical Leaders for Service in Public Schools
This article addresses the preparation and support needed by evangelicals who serve as administrators and teacher leaders in public school settings. Educational leadership is lonely, demanding, and draining. This article explores the unique challenges evangelical leaders face because of the ongoing conflict between conservative Christians and public schools. Work-related conflicts that evangelicals experience in the workplace due to faith and the cultural dynamics that fuel this conflict are described. Strategies are proposed for Christian colleges and universities to prepare school leaders for the cultural crossfire
Engaging LBGTQ Issues: It’s Still Complicated
Public school administrators deal with a range of culture war conflicts on a regular basis, and LBGTQ issues are particularly challenging. When I joined my Christian university’s faculty after a long career working as an Evangelical administrator in public schools, I looked forward to shifting from experiencing these conflicts as a public school administrator to equipping others to handle them. Instead, the challenges have become even more complicated

MARKETING ORDERS AND MARKET SEGMENTATION: MATCHING PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS TO CONSUMER PREFERENCES
A proposed amendment to the federal marketing order for Florida fresh citrus would eliminate Canada from the domestic market definition and include it in the export market category. Adoption of this amendment would permit smaller sized grapefruit to enter the Canadian market while maintaining more rigid minimum size restrictions in the domestic U.S. market. This variation in minimum size standards recognizes the perceived preferences for smaller-sized grapefruit among Canadian consumers. Using market order definitions to separate identifiable market segments facilitates the matching of product characteristics to consumer preferences. This paper evaluates the impacts of the proposed marketing order amendments.Consumer/Household Economics,
Cross-Kerr interaction in a four-level atomic system
We derive the form of the cross-Kerr interaction in a four-level atomic
system in the N-configuration. We use time-independent perturbation theory to
calculate the eigenenergies and eigenstates of the Schrodinger equation for the
system. The system is considered as a perturbation of a Raman resonant
three-level lambda scheme for which exact solutions are known. We show that
within the strong control field limit the cross-Kerr interaction can arise
between two weak probe fields. The strength of this nonlinear coupling is
several orders of magnitude larger than that achievable using optical fibres.Comment: 5 pages, resubmitted to Physical Review A with clarified style and
