Upgrade and interpersonal skills training at American Airlines
Segments of the interpersonal skills training audio visual program are presented. The program was developed to train customer contact personnel with specific emphasis on transactional analysis in customer treatment. Concepts of transactional analysis are summarized in terms of the make up of the personality, identified as the three ego states. These ego states are identified as the parent, the adult, and the child. Synopses of four of the tape programs are given
Endogenous Nmnat2 Is an Essential Survival Factor for Maintenance of Healthy Axons
We conclude that endogenous Nmnat2 prevents spontaneous degeneration of healthy axons and propose that, when present, the more long-lived, functionally related WldS protein substitutes for Nmnat2 loss after axon injury. Endogenous Nmnat2 represents an exciting new therapeutic target for axonal disorders
Protein synthesis and transport in the regenerating goldfish visual system
The nature of the proteins synthesized in the goldfish retina and axonally transported to the tectum during optic nerve regeneration has been examined. Electrophoretic analysis of labeled soluble retinal proteins by fluorography verified our previous observation of a greatly enhanced synthesis of the microtubule subunits. In addition, labeling of a tubulin-like protein in the retinal particulate fraction was also increased during regeneration. Like soluble tubulin, the particulate material had an apparent MW of 53–55K and could be tyrosylated in the presence of cycloheximide and [ 3 H]tyrosine. Comparison of post-crush and normal retinal proteins by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis also revealed a marked enhancement in the labeling of two acidic 68–70K proteins. Analysis of proteins slowly transported to the optic tectum revealed changes following nerve crush similar to those observed in the retina, with enhanced labeling of both soluble and particulate tubulin and of 68–70K polypeptides. A comparative analysis of promotion probabilities for Marine Corps field grade officers with special attention given to graduates of the Naval Postgraduate School
This thesis analyzes the relationship between selection to the Marine Corps' Field grade ranks of major and lieutenant colonel and certain personal and professional characteristics. Special attention is given to officers who graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. A performance index, computed from each officer's Master Brief Sheet, is included in the models to control for differences in performance. Cross-tabulations and multivariate logistic and ordinary-least-squares regression models are used to analyze characteristics associated with selection probabilities. The results of the analysis indicate that being augmented into the regular Marine Corps, being in the pilot, combat and service support occupational specialties, and accession through the U.S. Naval Academy increase the likelihood of selection to major. For selection to lieutenant colonel, being caucasian, being in occupational specialties other than combat and being accessed through the U.S. Naval Academy or the NROTC increase selection probabilities. For both grades, above average performance, personal decorations and graduating from the Naval Postgraduate School increased the likelihood of selection.http://archive.org/details/acomparativenaly1094531549NANAU.S. Marine Corps (U.S.M.C.) author
Single-Cell Assessment of Human Stem Cell-Derived Mesolimbic Models and Their Responses to Substances of Abuse
The mesolimbic pathway connects ventral tegmental area dopaminergic neurons and striatal medium spiny neurons, playing a critical role in reward and stress behaviors. Exposure to substances of abuse during development and adulthood has been linked to adverse outcomes and molecular changes. The rise of human cell repositories and whole-genome sequences enables human functional genomics ‘in a dish’, offering insights into human-specific responses to substances of abuse. Continued development of new models is needed, and the characterization of in vitro models is also necessary to ensure appropriate experimental designs and the accurate interpretation of results. This study introduces new culture conditions for generating medium spiny neurons and dopaminergic neurons with an early common media, allowing for coculture and assembloid generation. It then provides a comprehensive characterization of these and prior models and their responses to substances of abuse. Single-cell analysis reveals cell-type-specific transcriptomic responses to dopamine, cocaine, and morphine, including compound and cell-type-specific transcriptomic signatures related to neuroinflammation and alterations in signaling pathways. These findings offer a resource for future genomics studies leveraging human stem cell-derived models
