"Industrial Paternalistic Corporate Company Strategies in Theory and Practice in Nordic Countries and Japan from 1900s to 1960s"
In this article I discuss and compare how the concept of paternalism in the Nordic contries and Japan emerge, developed and changed, in theory and practice, from the late 19th century to the 1960s.The comparison showes important cultures and historical differences in how the patriarchal system was shaped in practice as well as in rhetoric but similarities in the endeavour for hegemony.
"Company Strategies and Sport Models"
The comparison in this article between companies in Japan and Sweden showes that although there are obvious historical and cultures differences between companies in the two countrys; differences in the industrialization and in modernization; differences in how sport were introduced and how it was shaped; there are similarities in how companies used sport in company strategies.
"Company Strategies and Sport Models"
The comparison in this article between companies in Japan and Sweden shows that although there are obvious historical and cultures differences between the countries different routes towards becoming modern democratic welfare states, differences in the industrialization and in modernization; differences in how sport were introduced and how it was shaped, there are similarities in how companies used sport in company strategies.
Comment on `Detecting non-Abelian geometric phases with three-level systems'
In their recent paper, Yan-Xiong Du et al. [Phys. Rev. A 84, 034103 (2011)]
claim to have found a non-Abelian adiabatic geometric phase associated with the
energy eigenstates of a large-detuned three-level system. They
further propose a test to detect the non-commutative feature of this geometric
phase. On the contrary, we show that the non-Abelian geometric phase picked up
by the energy eigenstates of a system is trivial in the adiabatic
approximation, while, in the exact treatment of the time evolution, this phase
is very small and cannot be separated from the non-Abelian dynamical phase
acquired along the path in parameter space.Comment: Explicit proof that the non-Abelian geometric phase is trivial added,

Mutually Unbiased Bases and The Complementarity Polytope
A complete set of N+1 mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) forms a convex polytope
in the N^2-1 dimensional space of NxN Hermitian matrices of unit trace. As a
geometrical object such a polytope exists for all values of N, while it is
unknown whether it can be made to lie within the body of density matrices
unless N=p^k, where p is prime. We investigate the polytope in order to see if
some values of N are geometrically singled out. One such feature is found: It
is possible to select N^2 facets in such a way that their centers form a
regular simplex if and only if there exists an affine plane of order N. Affine
planes of order N are known to exist if N=p^k; perhaps they do not exist
otherwise. However, the link to the existence of MUBs--if any--remains to be
found.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figure
Is Momentum Due to Data-Snooping?
This paper explores the profitability of portfolio-based momentum strategies. The data consists of all NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ stocks on the CRSP database. The analysis considers the period July 1963 to December 2002 and the tests are performed on portfolios formed on industry, size and book-to-market. The departure from earlier studies lies in the way we test for profitability. To avoid the serious problem of data-snooping we apply the procedure provided by White (2000). Overall, we find strong evidence of a momentum effect where an investor takes a long position on the winner portfolio and a short position on the loser portfolio. Hence, we reject the hypothesis of weak market efficiency. Splitting the sample in two parts, 1963:07 to 1981:12 and 1982:01 to 2002:12 we found that the best momentum strategy was profitable during the first period and not during the second. The overall significance is thus driven by events in the earlier part of the sample and it appears that the market has become more efficient.Momentum; Data-snooping; Bootstrap
"The Middle Class Patriarch in the Bourgeois Public"
During the second parts of the nineteenth century and the first part of the twentieth century the middle class patriarch played an important role in the formation and transformation of the bourgeoisie in Sweden - especially in the upper middle class dominated by industrialists, wholesalers and owners of "bruk". According to the comic press in the early twentieth century appearance was characteristic. Obviously he was a man. In the caricatures he often carried a high cylinder, wore a sturdy moustache a' la Bismarck, was evidently thick and because of that a back leaned posture, and had a authoritative appearance. Often he smoked a fat cigar. Here we will discuss his world view. First of all we discuss him on the basis of the changes in the bourgeois public and its patriarchal relations. Then we consider important parts of the world view and lastly we discuss the middle class patriarch as an industrialist.
Stock Options as Barrier Contingent Claims
This paper contributes in two ways. First it extends the Geske (1979) compound option pricing model to the case where the underlying call is a down-and-out claim. Second it provides an internally consistent frame-work for valuing options on general corporate securities. Numerical results suggest that the detailed characteristics of the underlying capital structure (such as coupons, principal and maturities) may substantially influence the pricing of options.Compound barrier contingent claims; option pricing
