When Self-Regulation, Market Forces, and Private Legal Actions Fail: Appropriate Government Regulation and Oversight is Necessary to Ensure Minimum Standards of Quality in Long-Term Health Care

    Get PDF
Mr. Eremia\u27s paper discusses market forces, professional self-regulation, and private litigation individually and collectively as methods of maintaining and improving quality of care. He determines that whether separately or in conjunction, these three paradigms have not been successful agents in this regard. By analyzing the regulatory framework and oversight provided by the federal government in the long-term care industry, Mr. Eremia argues persuasively that despite its occasional inadequacies, regular and consistent oversight and regulation by the government is imperative in order to effect meaningful and systemic improvements in the provision of quality care

THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DIVERSIFICATION OF THE LABOUR MARKET IN THE INDUSTRIAL AREAS AFFECTED BY RESTRUCTURING

In the context of what is implemented through dualism "ecosystem-efficient", sustainable development involves the care of the human potential of the present situation and the future of its natural resources, energy, materials and information. As an effect of responsibility for future generations, the efficient use of resources requires, at the same time, the operation of a sustainable economy, by diversification and development of the labour market in order to meet present and future demands of human society. At local and regional level, through the closing of mines and large enterprises, with an effect in restructuring the economic sector and employment, development strategies and rehabilitation of the affected industrial areas as a common principle approach, analyzing the problems, defining the objectives and policies, identifying actions to attack problems and provide for mechanisms that will enable the progress control. In this paper it is presented the concept of sustainable development as imperative for economic growth, diversification and development of the labour market, being dealt the representative criteria and principles of sustainable development strategy of any company. Are defined the components and objectives of a strategy for local and regional development of industrial areas affected by the restructuring

Researches regarding the confirmation of sunflower hibrises by influence of technological verifications in the south water area of Romania

The main purpose of this paper is to determine the best sunflower hybrids (Helianthus annuus) suitable for the southern part of Romania, which under different conditions of fertilization and technology will lead to the achievement of large and stable productions. The experience was located at INCDA Fundulea, on a uniform chernozem soil in terms of fertility and microrelief. The experimental module was of the trifactor type and was arranged according to the subdivision parcel method in three rehearsals. The cultivation of the plants was carried out under optimum conditions, specific to the culture area, in the non-irrigated version, the genotypes taken into study consisting of three hybrids: Performer, Barolo RO and PR64A89. The conclusions are to determine the associated influence of three crop factors, namely plant density, fertilization and hybrid influence on sunflower production under the climatic year 2013

An Explanation of Shortening Heat Generation and Mechanical Performance Enhancement during Muscle Stretch

Titin is an extraordinary long multidomain protein spanning half of the sarcomeric unit. One end of the titin filament is known to emerge from the Z-line, but the precise localization of the other end is still a matter of debate. Assuming that titin filaments connect the Z-line to the tips of thin filaments in the opposite half of the sarcomere, the behavior of an actively contracting muscle during mechanical stretch, as well as the mechanism of muscle shortening heat generation, can be easily explained if one considers that titin filaments are involved not only in the passive elasticity of the muscle but also in the force and heat generation during contraction

RESEARCHES ON OPTIMIZING THE CULTURE TECHNOLOGY IN SUNFLOWER

The approached issues covered research objectives aimed at optimizing the culture technology in order to achieve maximum and constant sunflower yield, in the soil and climate conditions of southern Romania, also pursuing the economic efficiency and environment protection. Research  were performed in the experimental field Systems of Sustainable Agriculture and Crops Fertilization (SSA-CF) not irrigated version, in the framework of NARDI Fundulea, pursuing the following parameters: hybrids,  fertilization and plants density The experimental diagram is three factorial type of form 3 x 3 x 2, managed according to the subdivided parcels method, in three repetitions. The total testing area was of 11,760m2. In order to organize the experiment it was used biological material consisting of three sunflower hybrids. Crop management was performed in optimal conditions of technology specific to the culture area, the studied genotypes consisting of: Performer (test check – semi-late hybrid), Barolo RO (semi-late hybrid), and PR64A89 (semi-late hybrid)
