The psychosocial factors affecting international student’s adjustment in University Utara Malaysia
The globalization of the economy and society has had its impact on Malaysian higher education institutions, particularly universities. The Malaysian Ministry of Higher
Education aims at intensifying globalization through increasing the number of international students. However, many international students struggle with adjusting to a new culture. The increasing numbers of international students from different countries in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) have inspired the researcher to
explore their psychosocial adjustment in this university. Building on this argument, this study aims to investigate the international student psychosocial adjustment by modifying and testing a model derived from Tseng (2002). This research aims to investigate the influence of personality, social support, language fluency, and cultural differences on the psychosocial adjustment of international students in University Utara Malaysia. The four factors that have been examined in the study were adopted from previous research by Cigularova, D. K. (2005), and Yusliza Mohd (2010). A total of 338 students have been selected as respondents and self-administered survey questionnaire has been developed. The findings indicate that there is a positive
correlation coefficient have been shown and remarkably significantly between each one of the four independent variables and the dependent variable. The findings offer few suggestions on how improvement could be made in order to support international students‟ psychosocial well-being. The research contributes to the fields of intercultural adjustment and also key implications for policy makers
Towards a Better Understanding of the Antecedents of IJVs’ Knowledge Acquisition and its Outcome: A Two-Fold Proposed Framework
In the era of globalization and technological advancement, developing and transition economies focus in seeking to attract FDI as means of obtaining capital and new technology. This in turn will open the door for local firms to enter into international joint ventures (IJVs) to acquire necessary capabilities by gaining access to foreign MNCs’ resources, knowledge, and skills. While foreign partners have agreed to pool their capital, knowledge, and technology, however, there is no guarantee of successful ventures. Drawing upon the intensive literature on knowledge transfer and strategic alliances, this paper aims to present potential antecedents and consequences of IJVs’ knowledge acquisition through proposing a two-fold conceptual framework to be tested empirically in future studies. The proposed framework suggests transfer mechanisms, management practices and formal mechanisms that link to IJVs’ knowledge acquisition. These will in turn lead to IJVs’ competitiveness. To support and justify the suggested framework, methodology and literature reviews are presented
Determinants of Organic Food Consumption in Narrowing the Green Gap
Understanding and recognizing environmentally friendly behaviour are vital in achieving the Sustainability Development Goals and driving the economy for countries and producers of environmentally-friendly goods. Nevertheless, various stakeholders have expressed concern about the existing green gap, which greatly hinders their marketing efforts. This situation persists as mainstream research investigates people’s purchasing intentions, under the notion that the intention to perform a specific behaviour would generally predict the actual behaviour. The key argument of this study is that examining the actual consumption behaviour of organic foods is the ideal approach towards investigating purchase intention drivers as a proxy for consumption. In response to the green gap, the theory of planned behaviour is expanded by including the dimension of temporal orientation, i.e., a future orientation that has an influential but unrecognised effect on many human behaviours. In contrast to the prevalent operationalization of attitude, the term is defined as a product-specific attitude which is markedly dissimilar to the environmental attitude in its orientations. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling technique was used to analyse the research model. The findings indicate that while product-specific attitudes and perceived availability positively affect organic food consumption, subjective norms do not. Additionally, the data implies that product specific attitudes are stronger when future orientation is high

International Joint Ventures’ Knowledge Acquisition: Critical Literature Review
Over the last decades, many researchers made critical literature reviews and meta-analyses related to technology/knowledge transfer and acquisition majors in different contexts. Due to the paucity of research, this study offers a critical literature review (CLR) on international joint ventures’ knowledge acquisition from foreign partners. This study aims to provide a complete analysis of 23 (out of 93) research publications published in reputable journals and conference proceedings between 1996 and 2020. This review research may be considered a vital resource for academics as it fills in some informational gaps, particularly from an international joint venture perspective. In addition, this paper has presented all previous studies by identifying the main critical factors for knowledge acquisition, namely, the determinants, outcomes, moderator, mediator, and context. The paper provides recommendations for future studies
