Co-Inoculation of Mesorhizobium ciceri with Either Bacillus sp. or Enterobacter aerogenes on Chickpea Improves Growth and Productivity in Phosphate-Deficient Soils in Dry Areas of a Mediterranean Region
Biological nitrogen fixation requires a large amount of phosphorus (P). However, most of the soils are P-deficient and the extensive use of P- chemical fertilizers constitute a serious threat to the environment. In this context, two field experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of co-inoculation of Mesorhizobium ciceri with phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB), Bacillus sp., and Enterobacter aerogenes, on chickpea as an alternative to chemical nitrogen (N) and phosphorous fertilizers in P-deficient soils in dry areas of Morocco. The results revealed that combined inoculation of chickpea with rhizobia and PSB showed a significant enhancement of chickpea nodulation, biomass production, yields and N, P, and protein content in grains as compared to single inoculation or single application of N or P. A significantly higher increase was obtained by inoculating chickpea with Mesorhizobium sp. MA72 combined with E. aerogenes P1S6. This combination allowed an enhancement of more than 270% in nodulation, 192% in shoot dry weight and 242% in grain yield. The effect of this combination was equivalent to the effect of combined application of N and P fertilizers. Formulation of biofertilizers based on tasted strains could be used for chickpea co-inoculation in P-deficient soils for an eco-friendly sustainable production of chickpea
A new approach to designing a multiband antenna using photonic crystals and load graphene for terahertz application
The primary concern addressed in this article is the inherent difficulty in creating antennas capable of effectively operating across a range of frequency bands within the terahertz (THz) spectrum. Conventional antenna designs often fall short in terms of delivering the required bandwidth and power for such applications. To mitigate this problem, we present a technique that uses photonic crystals integrated into the antenna design to generate photonic band gaps (PBG) with the graphene loaded in the THz band. So, the purpose was to find the optimal multiband antenna that can function across 1.13 and 0.65 THz. Simulations were conducted for rectangular patch antennas using different types of substrates, which included homogeneous, periodic, and aperiodic photonic crystal substrates, and by using a graphene load, simulations were carried out. Multiple sets of air holes (rectangular and cylindrical) were punched into the polyimide substrate of each modified photonic crystal substrate, and the load graphene was placed in the patch. The anticipated multiband antenna design has successfully achieved impressive performance metrics, including a minimal reflection coefficient of −36.8 dB and −41.812 dB, a substantial bandwidth of 25 GHz, and 110 GHz at 0.65 THz and 1.13 THz, respectively. Additionally, the design boasts a gain of 6.44 dBi, 9.45 dBi, and a remarkable radiation efficiency of 75.12 % and 80.03 %, respectively, with a VSWR <2 at the resonating frequencies. The distinctive attributes of PBG, combined with the multiband capabilities of the antenna, position it as a highly promising option for terahertz imaging systems like those used for detecting concealed objects in settings such as airports. Furthermore, its potential extends to biomedical imaging, where it could be utilized to identify tissue irregularities with improved clarity and contrast
A novel slotted antenna design for future Terahertz applications
A slotted patch antenna operating at 118 GHz is proposed to address challenges in the terahertz (THz) frequency band for wireless communication systems. The antenna design, utilizing a Rogers RO3003 substrate, which has a dielectric constant of = 3 and tan = 0.001, strategically incorporates slots to enhance key performance parameters. Copper is employed for the ground and radiating patch, and a microstrip feeding method powers the antenna. High frequency structure simulator (HFSS) software is used for design and simulation, revealing resonance at 0.118 THz with a reflection coefficient of -42.41 dB and an impedance bandwidth of 4.42 GHz (115.84–120.26 GHz). At the operating frequency, the antenna exhibits a gain of 7.36 dB, maximum directivity of 7.38 dB, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.01, and 99.75% radiation efficiency, all within a compact size of 1.5×1.3×0.1 mm³. The suggested antenna outperforms recent counterparts, making it suitable for applications like security screening and wireless communication systems (5G). Future efforts will target bandwidth expansion, gain enhancement, and further size reduction to enhance overall performance
Mots clés: Gliosarcome primitif, système nerveux central, diagnostic, traitementEnglish Title: Primary cerebral gliosarcoma: about two cases and review of the literatureEnglish AbstractGliosarcoma is a very rare brain tumor accounting for 1.8 -8% of all glial tumors. The Dynamic Change in Plasma Epstein–Barr Virus DNA Load over a Long-Term Follow-Up Period Predicts Prognosis in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
The current study was designed to investigate the changes in the circulating Epstein–Barr virus DNA load (EBV DNA) at various time points before and after treatment and its clinical significance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). A total of 142 patients with NPC were prospectively enrolled in this study. The plasma EBV DNA concentration was measured before and after treatment using qPCR. The prognostic values of the EBV DNA load were analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression tests. Following multivariate analysis, our data showed that high pre-EBV DNA loads were associated with significantly poorer distant metastasis free survival (DMFS) and progression free survival (PFS); detectable end-EBV DNA loads were associated with significantly worse loco-regional recurrence free survival (LRRFS) and PFS, and the detecTable 6 months-post-EBV DNA loads were associated with significantly poorer overall survival (OS), DMFS and PFS (p < 0.05). Additionally, combining the pre-EBV DNA load and the stage of the disease, our results showed that patients at stage III-IVA with a low pre-EBV DNA load had similar survival rates as patients at stage II with a low or high pre-EBV DNA load, but had better survival rates than those at stage III-IVA with a high pre-EBV DNA load. Taken together, we showed that the change of the EBV DNA load measured at several time points was more valuable than at any single time point for predicting patients’ survival for NPC. Furthermore, combining the pre-EBV DNA load and the TNM classification could help to formulate an improved prognostic model for this cancer
