Actual Management of Anterior Calyceal Diverticular Calculi: A Challenging Flexible Retrograde Endoscopic Approach

    No full text
Calyceal diverticula is a cavity that communicates with the collecting system through a narrow isthmus of the kidney. The incidence of the formation of stones in calyceal diverticula is 10-50%. This paper reports three cases of two females and one male who presented with calyceal diverticular calculi; the patients have been, arbitrarily, selected between August and February 2019 at the urology department of our university hospital. A minimally invasive treatment includes extracorporeal lithotripsy (ESWL), and F-URS (flexible ureteroscopy) was performed. We report this case series

Testicular metastasis of urothelial carcinoma simulating testicular cancer: A rare case report

    No full text
Metastatic cancers of the testis are rare. Metastatic disease in the testis from urothelial carcinoma is extremely rare. Usually, metastatic testicular cancers are from primitive prostate, lung, and gastrointestinal tumors.Testicular metastases from urothelial carcinoma should be suspected in patients with hematuria and testicular swelling

Acute hepatic colic led to the discovery of an adrenal myolipoma without a hemorrhagic component: About a rare symptomatologic presentation - Case report

    No full text
The discovery of an adrenal myolipoma is often fortuitous, or due to the effects of hypersecretion of the adrenal gland. A large tumor can exert a mass effect on neighbouring organs, as in our case where the myolipoma leads to compression of the main bile duct and causes hepatic colic, which is rare to explain the discovery of an adrenal myolipoma on CT

Spermatocytic seminoma of testis associated with undifferentiated sarcoma revealed in metastatic disease: A review and case report analysis

    No full text
Spermatocytic seminoma is a relatively rare testicular tumor and is characterized by a good prognosis. The discovery of a sarcomatous contingent modifies the prognosis of the indolent neoplasm. Only 20 cases being reported in English literature. We present the case of a 66-year-old man with a two-year history of left-sided scrotal pain and swelling. Tumor markers were normal. Ultrasound demonstrated a very large solid-cystic testicular mass. Orchidectomy was performed. Further imaging investigations revealed lung, vertebra, and retroperitoneal lymph node metastases. Histological examination and immunohistochemistry of the orchidectomy specimen concluded on spermatocytic seminoma associated with undifferentiated sarcoma component

Neuromyelitis optica in a young patient presenting with urinary retention: A case report

    No full text
Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a rare autoimmune disorder of the central nervous system that can cause a variety of neurological symptoms, including urinary dysfunction. Here, we present the case of a 21-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with NMO after presenting with urinary retention

Study of the mechanical and chemical properties of potassium manganese phosphate glasses

    No full text
Homogeneous phosphate glasses having the general formula 20K2O-xMnO-(80-x)P2O5 were synthesized using a melt-quenching method. The amorphous nature of the samples was asserted by X–ray diffraction. The glasses are studied in order to evaluate the influence of MnO addition on the chemical and mechanical properties, such as, dissolution rate, average compressive strength (Rc), Young’s modulus (E) and limit strain (εlim). Some studies show that the addition of MnO significantly reduces the degradation rate (DR) of soluble phosphate glasses and enhanced chemical stability of both alkali-resistance and acid-resistance. MnO interfere with the chemical structure of the glass, and consequently improve their mechanical properties. Indeed, the mechanical measurements showed that the glass structure was modified by the addition of MnO oxide, becoming more rigid, and as a result, increasing the compressive strength (Rc), Young’s modulus (E). These new materials could be an important opportunity for applications in the fields of building, construction, civil engineering, etc

Fournier's gangrene revealing an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma of the penis: An exceptional case report

    No full text
Fournier's gangrene is a fast progressive necrotizing fasciitis of the perineum and external genitals, It is secondary to polymicrobial infection by aerobic and anaerobic bacteria with synergistic action. The origin of the infection is either cutaneous, urogenital or colorectal. There are age, diabetes and immunosuppression, are frequently present in affected patients. Fluid and electrolyte management, combined with broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy followed rapidly by surgical debridement, is the standard of treatment. we report in this article a very rare case of cancer of the penis manifested by fournier's gangrene

Pelvic hydatid cyst revealed by acute retention of urine: A case report

    No full text
We report the rare case of a primary pelvic hydatid cyst in a 37-years old from a rural area. The diagnosis was suspected preoperatively based on the origin of the patient, and CT findings and it was confirmed intraoperatively by finding the typical cystic content. A total excision of the cyst without causing or contamination of the field was carried out by median incision. Our work aims to point to an unusual localization of hydatid disease, clinical and radiological characteristics, and above all to discuss the different ethnic-pathogenic theories and surgical treatment
