Introduction: A large body of literature on school health and review of its history in the world show that most of the countries have paid special attention to this issue. The student’s health is of high importance, not only for being the society vulnerable population, but for they are future national and human capital and guarantors of the country socioeconomic development. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study the statistical population included all 110 primary schools (girls' and boys') in Yazd, District 2 of which 50 were randomly selected. Data were gathered using a questionnaire with two separate parts; the first part about environmental health and safety status of the schools and the second about their public health status. The questionnaire validity was confirmed by the experts' judgment and reliability was estimated 82% using Cronbach's alpha test. Results: Most of the schools had suitable area per student, health care rooms, standard first aid kit, appropriate drinking fountains, and standard toilets. In 66% of the schools the distance of the blackboard from the first student was ≥2.5 m. Most of the schools had appropriate indexes for the status of light, ceiling, color and class wall. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that the health status of primary schools of Yazd, District 2 was consistent with the required standards of school health regulations. Health status was not significantly different in girls' and boy's schools

Background Preterm birth before 37 th wk of gestation is called premature birth. Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and CRH-binding protein (BP) act on various maternal and fetal tissues during pregnancy, such as the myometrium, which regulates the transition from the dormant phase of the uterus to the active phase. Studies have shown that mir-200c and mir-181a interact with CRH and CRH-BP. Objective The present study aimed to investigate the expression of mir-200c, mir-181a, CRH, and CRH-BP in women with a history of preterm birth. Materials and Methods In this case-control study, the gene expression level of mir-200c, mir-181a, CRH, and CRH-BP in placental tissue samples obtained from 48 women with a history of preterm labor was assessed in the Mojibian hospital of Yazd, Iran, from January to March 2023. Differences between mir-200c, mir-181a CRH, and CRH-BP gene expressions among cases and controls were assessed. Results The outcomes indicated that the expression of CRH increased with going on to the regular parturition time (p < 0.001). While outcomes indicated, CRH-BP decreased with going on to the regular parturition time (p < 0.001). In addition, the results showed that the expression of mir-181a increased and mir-200c decreased with approaching the normal delivery time (p < 0.001). Conclusion In conclusion, the expressions of mir-200c, mir-181a, CRH, and CRH-BP were dissimilar in different weeks of gestation. It could be proposed to use mir-200c, mir-181a, CRH, and CRH-BP as biomarkers to weigh the exact delivery time, which could minimize the side effects of preterm labor for the mother and fetus

Disability and Self-Care among Elders in Yazd

Introduction: Geriatric syndromes lead to a number of disabilities which dramatically affect the quality of life in ageing. Facilitating the process of self-care can improve the elder's health to a great extent which has received less attention in previous studies. This study aimed at investigating the relationship between the disability and self-care in the elderly of Yazd. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Yazd; 234 elderly participants were selected through cluster random sampling. WHODAS-II questionnaire and a researcher-designed self-care questionnaire were utilized and collected data analyzed using Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H, chi-square and Spearman correlation coefficient tests. Results: The mean score of disability was 38.55 ±13.71 (ranging from 0 to 92) and the mean score of self-care was 61.57± 15.94 (ranging from 0 to 118). There was no statistically significant correlation between total score of disability and self-care, however, correlation was detected between the subscales. Conclusion: Given the high level of disability in a majority of elders and low level of their self-care, self-care promotion programs and prevention of disabilities in collaboration with their families and health centers are recommended
