Signature of Fermi arc surface states in Andreev reflection at the WTe2_2 Weyl semimetal surface

We experimentally investigate charge transport through the interface between a niobium superconductor and a three-dimensional WTe2_2 Weyl semimetal. In addition to classical Andreev reflection, we observe sharp non-periodic subgap resistance resonances. From an analysis of their positions, magnetic field and temperature dependencies, we can interpret them as an analog of Tomasch oscillations for transport along the topological surface state across the region of proximity-induced superconductivity at the Nb-WTe2_2 interface. Observation of distinct geometrical resonances implies a specific transmission direction for carriers, which is a hallmark of the Fermi arc surface states.Comment: 5 pages, some misprints has been correcte

Strong light-matter coupling: parametric interactions in a cavity and free-space

We consider parametric interactions of laser pulses in a coherent macroscopic ensemble of resonant atoms, which are possible in the strong coupling regime of light-matter interaction. The spectrum condensation (lasing at collective vacuum Rabi sidebands) was studied in an active cavity configuration. Parametric interactions under the strong light-matter coupling were proved even in free space. In contrast to bichromatic beats in a cavity, they were shown to appear due to interference between polaritonic wave packets of different group velocities.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

59Co NMR study of the Co states in superconducting and anhydrous cobaltates

59^{59}Co NMR spectra in oriented powders of Na0.35_{0.35}CoO2_{2} and in its hydrated superconducting phase (HSC) Na0.35_{0.35}CoO2_{2},1.3H2_{2}O reveal a single electronic Co state with identical TT independent NMR shift tensor. These phases differ markedly from Na0.7_{0.7}CoO2_{2}, in which we resolve 3 types of Co sites. The large T variation of their spin susceptibilities χs\chi ^{s} and the anisotropy of the orbital susceptibility χorb\chi ^{orb} allow us to conclude that charge disproportionation occurs, in a non magnetic Co3+^{3+} and two magnetic sites with about 0.3 and 0.7 holes in the t2gt_{2g} multiplet. The data are consistent with those for the single Co site in the anhydrous and HSC phase assuming the expected Co3.65+^{3.65+} charge.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Dark polariton-solitons in semiconductor microcavities

We report the existence, symmetry breaking and other instabilities of dark polariton-solitons in semiconductor microcavities operating in the strong coupling regime. These half-light half-matter solitons are potential candidates for applications in all-optical signal processing. Their excitation time and required pump powers are a few orders of magnitude less than those of their weakly coupled light-only counterparts.Comment: submitted to PR

Spatial polarimetry of inhomogeneous surfaces under laser illumination

    Get PDF
A study aimed at improving the methods of remote laser polarimetry of inhomogeneous surfaces using complex probe signals with a combined amplitude-phase and polarization modulation has been performed. It is shown that the informative properties of probe signals can be improved that potentially allows for carrying out some operations of forming and processing polarization images of objects in the probe stage. The efficiency of application of the proposed probe signals for recognizing various types of materials is experimentally confirme
