Light Yield in DarkSide-10: a Prototype Two-phase Liquid Argon TPC for Dark Matter Searches

As part of the DarkSide program of direct dark matter searches using liquid argon TPCs, a prototype detector with an active volume containing 10 kg of liquid argon, DarkSide-10, was built and operated underground in the Gran Sasso National Laboratory in Italy. A critically important parameter for such devices is the scintillation light yield, as photon statistics limits the rejection of electron-recoil backgrounds by pulse shape discrimination. We have measured the light yield of DarkSide-10 using the readily-identifiable full-absorption peaks from gamma ray sources combined with single-photoelectron calibrations using low-occupancy laser pulses. For gamma lines of energies in the range 122-1275 keV, we get consistent light yields averaging 8.887+-0.003(stat)+-0.444(sys) p.e./keVee. With additional purification, the light yield measured at 511 keV increased to 9.142+-0.006(stat) p.e./keVee.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, Accepted for publication in Astroparticle Physic

Latest results of dark matter detection with the DarkSide experiment

In this contribution the latest results of dark matter direct detection obtained by the DarkSide Collaboration are discussed. New limits on the scattering cross-section between dark matter particles and baryonic matter have been set. The results have been reached using the DarkSide-50 detector, a double-phase Time Projection Chamber (TPC) filled with 40Ar and installed at Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS). In 2018, the DarkSide Collaboration has performed three different types of analysis. The so-called high-mass analysis into the range between ∼ 10 GeV and ∼ 1000 GeV is discussed under the hypothesis of scattering between dark matter and Ar nuclei. The low-mass analysis, performed using the same hypothesis, extends the limit down to ∼1.8 GeV. Through a different hypothesis, that predicts dark matter scattering off the electrons inside of the Ar atom, it has been possible to set limits for sub-GeV dark matter masses

On the general concept of bribery crime: The rationale for the need of its introduction into scientific nomenclature

The paper analyzes the need to identify the general concept of bribery crime in the Russian Federation. The origin of this concept has been studied using the dialectical research methods, in particular the ascent from the abstract to the concrete in thinking. The problem of the general concept of bribery crime is relevant because of its theoretical and practical significance. It is necessary to carry out the separation from the total mass and further systematization in the unifying concept of the whole set of homogeneous features inherent in the acts of this group of crimes. The definition of this concept is intended to ensure the completeness and diversity of the perception of all elements and signs of specific elements of crimes related to bribery, to eliminate the existing legislative problems and gaps, as well as to form a basis for the impeccable qualification of this group of crimes in the current criminal legislation of the Russian Federation. The purpose of the research is to study and analyze of the elements and signs of crimes related to bribery in their relationship and interdependence. It lies in the argumentative-doctrinal basis for identification of the general concept of elements of crimes associated with bribery and corresponds to the attempt undertaken in this work to disclose and analyze the signs and elements of the general concept of elements of the designated illegal criminal act

The software package WAVES-L is intended for fast and interactive simulation of wavefields generated by a prescribed surface load in an elastic layer with three possible types of boundary conditions at the waveguide’s bottom surface is considered. The algorithms realized in the programme are based on the explicit integral representations of the source-induced wavefields and corresponding asymptotic expansions for the guided waves propagating from the source to infinity. In the nearfield, including the points beneath the loading area, the amplitude-frequency characteristics of the total wavefield are computed using the numerical integration of improper contour integrals. The calculation of dispersion curves characteristics and eigenforms of guided waves is realized as well. WAVES-L is supplied with a user-friendly interface, which supports convenient change of the input parameters and provides demonstrative visualization of wavefield dependencies on frequency and spatial variables. The software package has a potential application in ultrasonic non-destructive testing and structural health monitoring of thin-walled engineering constructions. It can also be used in education, within the framework of laboratory classes in the corresponding specialization. The article presents examples of screenshots and graphs of experimental validation of the calculated results.Работа проводилась при финансовой поддержке Министерства образования и науки РФ, государственное задание № 9.1022.2017/4-6, а также РФФИ и Администрации Краснодарского края, проект № 16-41-230769
