Isoperiodic deformations of the acoustic operator and periodic solutions of the Harry Dym equation
We consider the problem of describing the possible spectra of an acoustic
operator with a periodic finite-gap density. We construct flows on the moduli
space of algebraic Riemann surfaces that preserve the periods of the
corresponding operator. By a suitable extension of the phase space, these
equations can be written with quadratic irrationalities.Comment: 15 page

STATISTICAL CHARACTERISTICS INVESTIGATION OF PREDICTION ERRORS FOR INTERFEROMETRIC SIGNAL IN THE ALGORITHM OF NONLINEAR KALMAN FILTERING
Basic peculiarities of nonlinear Kalman filtering algorithm applied to processing of interferometric signals are considered. Analytical estimates determining statistical characteristics of signal values prediction errors were obtained and analysis of errors histograms taking into account variations of different parameters of interferometric signal was carried out. Modeling of the signal prediction procedure with known fixed parameters and variable parameters of signal in the algorithm of nonlinear Kalman filtering was performed. Numerical estimates of prediction errors for interferometric signal values were obtained by formation and analysis of the errors histograms under the influence of additive noise and random variations of amplitude and frequency of interferometric signal. Nonlinear Kalman filter is shown to provide processing of signals with randomly variable parameters, however, it does not take into account directly the linearization error of harmonic function representing interferometric signal that is a filtering error source. The main drawback of the linear prediction consists in non-Gaussian statistics of prediction errors including cases of random deviations of signal amplitude and/or frequency. When implementing stochastic filtering of interferometric signals, it is reasonable to use prediction procedures based on local statistics of a signal and its parameters taken into account
A discrete slug population model determined by egg production
Slugs are significant pests in agriculture (as well as a nuisance to gardeners), and it is therefore important to understand their population dynamics for the construction of efficient and effective control measures. Differential equation models of slug populations require the inclusion of large (variable) temporal delays, and strong seasonal forcing results in a non-autonomous system. This renders such models open to only a limited amount of rigorous analysis. In this paper, we derive a novel batch model based purely upon the quantity of eggs produced at different times of the year. This model is open to considerable reduction; from the resulting two variable discrete-time system it is possible to reconstruct the dynamics of the full population across the year and give conditions for extinction or global stability and persistence. Furthermore, the steady state temporal population distribution displays qualitatively different behavior with only small changes in the survival probability of slugs. The model demonstrates how small variations in the favorability of different years may result in widely different slug population fluctuations between consecutive years, and is in good agreement with field data
Breeding behavior and pup development of the Caspian seal, Pusa caspica
The Caspian seal, Pusa caspica, is an ice-breeding phocid endemic to the Caspian Sea. The breeding behavior of this species is poorly documented. Here, we report behavioral observations of 518 mother-pup pairs and 210 lone pups, made from the bridge of icebreakers traversing seal breeding grounds while servicing oil installations in the northeastern Caspian Sea, during 34 trips from late January to early March, 2006-2012. The breeding habitat of Caspian seals is land-fast or drift ice, usually at least 20 cm thick, overlying water 3β5 m deep. Pregnant females formed pairs or small groups. They were not observed to use lairs, but preferentially pupped beside ice ridges or ice-slab piles that afforded shelter to pups. In years when there were few natural leads into the ice-field, females often gave birth on the edge of artificial leads formed by shipping channels. Pups were categorized into stages from newborn (1), white-coat (2), molting (3), and molted (4), with Stage 3 and 4 pups appearing from mid to late February. The nursing period lasted at least 3 weeks and neighboring mother-pup pairs appeared to be mutually tolerant. Mothers left their pups alone or at nursery sites, presumably to forage. Most white-coat pups moved over the ice while avoiding water in response to disturbance from vessels. Mother-pup pairs maintained contact while moving across the ice by a combination of the pupβs following response and diligent chaperoning by the mother. During disturbances some lone pups sought refuge in shelters under ice slabs, whereas others followed a neighboring mother-pup pair away from the vessel. Male-female pairing occurred in late season with no male-male competition observed on the ice. While breeding and pup rearing behavior of Caspian seals has some features in common with that of other Holarctic seals, it is largely distinct and adapted to the unique conditions of the Caspian environment, in particular the paucity of snow cover on the ice
Staining method for coronary arteries
Detection of elastic and collagen fibers in the same histological section to determine their relationships and quantification is important for connective tissue investigations. The aim of the study was to assess the possibility of differentiated staining of elastic and collagen fibers with resorcin-fuchsin and fast green FCF in the same histological section andΒ compare the result of this method with the results of the classical methods of staining connective tissue, performed according to standard protocols.Β Material and methods.Β We studied adult human hearts, obtained from patients who died from non-cardiac causes. We cut tissue sections from the anterior interventricular artery and the underlying myocardium. After formalin fixation, standard processing and embedding in paraffin of the material, histological sections were made. Histological sections were deparaffinized and immersed resorcin-fuchsin for 15 minutes, then stained with Weigertβs iron hematoxylin for 2 minutes, then for 2 minutes were applied to the preparation surface 0.1% solution of fast green FCF mixed with a saturated solution of picric acid immediately before staining in a ratio of 1:10, the histological sections were dehydrated, cleared and mounted in permanent mounting medium.Β Results.Β Elastic fibers were dyed in dark blue, and collagen fibers in different shades of green, which made it possible to differentiate them on the basis of color differences in one histological section.Β Conclusion.Β We have developed and tested the method of staining, which provides the possibility of simultaneous detection of elastic and collagen fibers with successive staining with solutions of resorcin-fuchsin and fast green FCF on one histological section
ROLE OF INTERFERONS IN REGULATION OF OSTOGENIC AND OSTEORESORPTIVE PROCESSES
Bone tissue preserves high metabolic activity during all time of its life. Homeostasis of bone tissue is provided by fine balance between its formation by osteoblasts and its resorption by osteoclasts. There are complex regulatory interrelations between cells of bone differon and. system of interferons, the peculiarities of production of which mediate disturbances of osteoformating and. resorptive components of osteo metabolism at various pathological conditions. The review presents literature data on the role of interferons in regulation of osteogenous and. osteoresorptive processes which opens up the prospective of aimed application of interferons preparations with the purpose of restoration of immunologic imbalance and. bone tissue homeostasis
Complications at the hip replacement and ways of their prediction (review of literature)
The review presents modern data on the role of immune system in development of postoperative complications at hip replacement. Surgical stress while having depressive influence on immune system is powerful factor that causes conditions for development of secondary immune depression or intensifies it. On this background possibility of development of both early and late postoperative complications is quite high, that's why frequency of revision hip replacement increases steadily. Providing of stability of endoprosthesis is extremely important at total hip replacement. Researches realized during last decades determined connection of processes of osteogenesis and bone resorption and polypeptide factors of growth - cytokines. That's why questions of prevention and. correction of loss of bone substance with use of modern pharmacological preparations are important in the movement of observed problem. Infectious complications are also very significant ones at hip replacement. The fact of infectious process being the result of interrelation of macro- and. microorganisms and. immune system having one the leading roles in this process is doubtless. Among all the measures for prevention of postoperative complications their prevention that allows to determine right tactics of operative treatment, to realize complex of preparatory and. rehabilitation measures and. to improve the results of treatment and quality of life of patient, becomes important. Use of immunologic methods allowed to choose criteria and to develop ways of prevention of development of complications at hip replacement. However proposed ways not always allow to count individual susceptibility of an organism to different infectious pathogens; most of them are based on the determination of various specific and. quite laborious indices. Necessity of realization of researches before an operation and. in different terms of postoperative period for determination of dynamic dependence of changes of laboratory indices is significant disadvantage and requires quite prolonged observation of the patient for getting an information about prevention of hip replacement results. That's why further development and use of new ways of early hip replacement undoubtedly allows to improve results of surgical treatment of patients with different forms of coxarthrosis

Aim. To assess the possibility of combined application of screening methods for early detection of risks of bipolar disorder in adolescents.Materials and methods. The study included 139 adolescents aged 13β16 years. A clinical psychopathology assessment as well as screening methods were used. The screening methods included the Bipolar Spectrum Diagnostic Scale ((BSDS), R. Pies, 2005) and the Mood Disorder Questionnaire ((MDQ), R.M. Hirschfeld, 2000).Results. The clinical psychopathology assessment was performed in accordance with criteria of ICD-10, Class V. No mental and behavioral disorders (F00-F99), including affective pathology, were identified. Following the MDQ screening, the risk of bipolar disorder was revealed in 63 individuals (45.3%; 95 % confidence interval (CI): (36.8β53.9). When the BSDS method was used, the risk of bipolar disorder was revealed in 16.2% of cases (CI: (11.9β28.3)). The combined use of the screening scales (MDQ and BSDS) confirmed their consistency in detecting values both not exceeding (48.7% of the cases) and exceeding the threshold rates (17.1% of the cases).Conclusion. Early diagnosis of a risk of bipolar disorder in adolescents, along with a clinical psychopathology assessment, may include application of screening scales. Π‘ombined use of several screening methods is justified by polymorphism of initial hypomanic and depressive states, as well as by difficulties in subjective assessment of symptoms of bipolar disorder in adolescents.Π¦Π΅Π»Ρ. Reaction of sulfur halides with unsaturated compounds - Communication 12. Stereochemistry of the oxidation of 2,9-dichloro-13-thiabicyclo[8.2.1]cis-5-tridecene
Oxidation of 2,9-dichloro-13-thiabicyclo[8.2.1]cis-5-tridecene with tert-amyl hydroperoxide leads to the respective exo-sulfoxide and also to a derivative of 13-thiabicyclo[7.3.1]cis-5-tridecene, which is a product from rearrangement with enlargement of the thiacyclopentane ring to a thiacyclohexane ring.
