A Fredholm Determinant for Semi-classical Quantization

We investigate a new type of approximation to quantum determinants, the ``\qFd", and test numerically the conjecture that for Axiom A hyperbolic flows such determinants have a larger domain of analyticity and better convergence than the \qS s derived from the \Gt. The conjecture is supported by numerical investigations of the 3-disk repeller, a normal-form model of a flow, and a model 2-dd map.Comment: Revtex, Ask for figures from [email protected]

Interaction corrections to the Hall coefficient at intermediate temperatures

We investigate the effect of electron-electron interaction on the temperature dependence of the Hall coefficient of 2D electron gas at arbitrary relation between the temperature TT and the elastic mean-free time τ\tau. At small temperature TτT\tau \ll \hbar we reproduce the known relation between the logarithmic temperature dependences of the Hall coefficient and of the longitudinal conductivity. At higher temperatures, this relation is violated quite rapidly; correction to the Hall coefficient becomes 1/T\propto 1/T whereas the longitudinal conductivity becomes linear in temperature.Comment: 4 pages, 3 .eps figure

Applications of Commutator-Type Operators to pp-Groups

For a p-group G admitting an automorphism ϕ\phi of order pnp^n with exactly pmp^m fixed points such that ϕpn1\phi^{p^{n-1}} has exactly pkp^k fixed points, we prove that G has a fully-invariant subgroup of m-bounded nilpotency class with (p,n,m,k)(p,n,m,k)-bounded index in G. We also establish its analogue for Lie p-rings. The proofs make use of the theory of commutator-type operators.Comment: 11 page
