A Study of the Impact of the Phividec Industrial Estate
This article is a product of a nine-month training and application program implemented by the micro component of the Economic and Social Impact Analysis/Women in Development (ESIA/WID) and the Food Systems Program of the East-West Center Resource Systems Institute (RSI). Since the industrial estate has yet to be completed, this article presents an impact evaluation of the project based on its accomplishment on the basis of its expected full benefits. This is in the hope of providing a foundation for policy strengthening and alteration.industry sector, infrastructure, survey method, impact analysis
Science and Technology Development and Promotion in the Private Sector: Some Issues and Recommendations for Policy Research

Geographical Information System Mapping the Billboards in Samarinda
Advances in information technology on geography are increasingly needed by many people, for example information on distances between regions, locations, facilities and many other information. The information is needed by users for various purposes such as research, development, regional design and natural resource management. Because of this geographical presence can help the presentation of a more interactive information, where users can access complete geographical information using only a computer, web-browser and internet network. So to get that information all in need of a Geographical Information System (GIS). The purpose of this research is to create a web that contains information on the location of billboards in the city of Samarinda. While this research is expected to make it easier for users to obtain information on the location of billboards in Samarinda

Quality Assessment for E-learning: a Benchmarking Approach (Third edition)
The primary purpose of this manual is to provide a set of benchmarks, quality criteria and notes for guidance against which e-learning programmes and their support systems may be judged. The manual should therefore be seen primarily as a reference tool for the assessment or review of e-learning programmes and the systems which support them.
However, the manual should also prove to be useful to staff in institutions concerned with the design, development, teaching, assessment and support of e-learning programmes. It is hoped that course developers, teachers and other stakeholders will see the manual as a useful development and/or improvement tool for incorporation in their own institutional systems of monitoring, evaluation and enhancement
Inclusive , , ... reactions in nuclei
We study the inclusive , , , reactions in nuclei using a Monte Carlo simulation
method to treat the multichannel problem of the final state. The input consists
of reaction probabilities for the different steps evaluated using microscopical
many body methods. We obtain a good agreement with experiment in some channels
where there is data and make predictions for other channels which are presently
under investigation in several electron laboratories. The comparison of the
theoretical results with experiment for several kinematical conditions and
diverse channels can serve to learn about different physical processes ocurring
in the reaction. The potential of this theoretical tool to make prospections
for possible experiments, aiming at pinning down certain reaction
probabilities, is also emphasized.Comment: 21 pages (LaTeX + figure files
Some challenges facing scientific software developers: The case of molecular biology
It is apparent that the challenges facing scientific software developers are quite different from those facing their commercial counterparts. Among these differences are the challenges posed by the complex and uncertain nature of the science. There is also the fact that many scientists have experience of developing their own software, albeit in a very restricted setting, leading them to have unrealistic expectations about software development in a different setting. In this paper, we explore the challenges facing scientific software developers focusing especially on molecular biology. We claim that the nature and practice of
molecular biology is quite different from that of the physical sciences and pose different problems to software developers. We do not claim that this paper is the last word on the topic but hope that it serves as the inspiration for further debate
On Pre- and Post-Disciplinarity in (Cultural) Political Economy
For some time now we have been working both individually and together on a new approach to political economy that does not fit neatly into the standard ways of thinking about political economy as a discipline. Instead, we describe our shared approach as pre-disciplinary in its historical inspiration and post-disciplinary in its current intellectual implications. Of course, we are not alone in refusing disciplinary boundaries and decrying some of their effects. Indeed, there are many signs of increasing commitment among social scientists to transcending such boundaries to better understand the complex interconnections within and across the natural and social worlds. We advocate the idea of a 'cultural political economy' and suggest how it might transform understandings of recent developments in political economy. Before doing so, however, we will situate our proposals for cultural political economy in the broader context of exciting recent developments in political economy
Coronavirus and the End of Resilience
Resilience appears to be the key policy buzzword of our times. International organizations, as diverse as the United Nations and the European Union, have now adopted resilience strategies across various policy areas – highlighted by the UN’s risk and resilience framework for its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN, 2017), the EU Action Plan for Resilience (European Commission, 2013), the European Union Global Strategy (EU, 2016) and other policy documents. This short piece argues that global responses to the Coronavirus appear to demonstrate that policy discourses of resilience may be one (so far, unremarked) casualty of the Coronavirus outbreak. ‘Keeping Calm and Carrying On’ is not an option. Acting normally, not panicking, not overreacting, is seen as dangerous and hubristic (Taleb et al, 2020). Being resilient will make the problems worse. Being resilient will make the virus spread. Better to close, to cancel, to restrict now, rather than to regret later
