    Magnon-Hole Scattering and Charge Order in Sr14−xCaxCu24O41Sr_{14-x}Ca_xCu_{24}O_{41}

    The magnon thermal conductivity κmag\kappa_{\mathrm{mag}} of the hole doped spin ladders in Sr14−xCaxCu24O41\rm Sr_{14-x}Ca_xCu_{24}O_{41} has been investigated at low doping levels xx. The analysis of κmag\kappa_{\mathrm{mag}} reveals a strong doping and temperature dependence of the magnon mean free path lmagl_{\mathrm{mag}} which is a local probe for the interaction of magnons with the doped holes in the ladders. In particular, this novel approach to studying charge degrees of freedom via spin excitations shows that charge ordering of the holes in the ladders leads to a freezing out of magnon-hole scattering processes

    Spatial and temporal filtering of a 10-W Nd:YAG laser with a Fabry-Perot ring-cavity premode cleaner

    We report on the use of a fixed-spacer Fabry–Perot ring cavity to filter spatially and temporally a 10-W laser-diode-pumped Nd:YAG master-oscillator power amplifier. The spatial filtering leads to a 7.6-W TEMinfinity beam with 0.1% higher-order transverse mode content. The temporal filtering reduces the relative power fluctuations at 10 MHz to 2.8 x 10^-/sqrtHz, which is 1 dB above the shot-noise limit for 50 mA of detected photocurrent

However, it entered a decline as the result of various factors, such as disturbances in Central Asia, as well as the discovery of new maritime commercial routes. Contemporaneously, China, currently the 2nd most powerful economy in the world, reactivated a project of this logistic and commercial route, very much to maintain its commercial competitiveness, idealized by president Xi Jinping. This audacious project, under construction, will involve great Chinese investments for the region, as well as a contribution to other nations, which will change all the geography of international negotiations

    Macroscopic Quantum Tunneling of a Domain Wall in a Ferromagnetic Metal

    The macroscopic quantum tunneling of a planar domain wall in a ferromagnetic metal is studied based on the Hubbard model. It is found that the ohmic dissipation is present even at zero temperature due to the gapless Stoner excitation, which is the crucial difference from the case of the insulating magnet. The dissipative effect is calculated as a function of width of the wall and is shown to be effective in a thin wall and in a weak ferromagnet.     Al-Substitution Effects on Physical Properties of the Colossal Magnetoresistance Compouns La0.67ca0.33mno3

    We present a detailed study of the polycrystalline perovskite manganites La0.67Ca0.33AlxMn1-xO3 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.5) at low temperatures and high magnetic fields, including electrical resistance, magnetization, ac susceptibility. The static magnetic susceptibility was also measured up to 1000 K. All the samples show colossal magnetoresistance behavior and the Curie temperatures decrease with Al doping. The data suggest the presence of correlated magnetic clusters near by the ferromagnetic transition. This appears to be a consequence of the structural and magnetic disorder created by the random distribution of Al atoms.Comment: 13 pages including 5 figure

    Resonant magnetic mode in superconducting 2-leg ladders

    The spin dynamics of a doped 2-leg spin ladder is investigated by numerical techniques. We show that a hole pair-magnon boundstate evolves at finite hole doping into a sharp magnetic excitation below the two-particle continuum. This is supported by a field theory argument based on a SO(6)-symmetric ladder. Similarities and differences with the resonant mode of the high-Tc_c cuprates are discussed.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

    Perturbative dynamics of matrix string for the membrane

    Recently Sekino and Yoneya proposed a way to regularize the world volume theory of membranes wrapped around S1S^1 by matrices and showed that one obtains matrix string theory as a regularization of such a theory. We show that this correspondence between matrix string theory and wrapped membranes can be obtained by using the usual M(atrix) theory techniques. Using this correspondence, we construct the super-Poincare generators of matrix string theory at the leading order in the perturbation theory. It is shown that these generators satisfy 10 dimensional super-Poincar\'e algebra without any anomaly.Comment: 23 pages, 1 figur
