    GSM BTS RADIATION WITHIN COMMUNITIES ONDO - CITY, NIGERIA AS A CASE STUDY

    The nature of communication base stations entails the emission of non-ionizing radiation due to the presence of transmitting and receiving antennas mounted on them. When the values of charges are varied harmonically with time, antenna tend to release energy, which is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the antenna. Several government regulates the level of energy that an antenna can release to the environment. This study attempts to assess the compliance of communication providers with regulations and the underlying health implications of the variation in radiations with respect to distance from different base stations. Furthermore, the work adopted mathematical methods to analyze the radiation pattern around base stations from different communication networks. The study revealed the presence of high radiation level from all the base station in the studied area. Therefore, H-field tool is critical to radiation measurement from the RF base station because of its simplicity. The study concluded that agencies of government should put in place information and awareness-raising campaigns on the risks of potentially harmful long-term biological effects on the environment and on human health of radiation, especially targeting children, teenagers and young people of reproductive age

    The study review healthcare knowledge management (KM) concept and wireless sensor network (WSN) technologies to propose community-based healthcare service for Alzheimer (Dementia) in Nigeria. Its proposition incorporates an intelligent electronic based system for analysis and monitoring so as to provide the caregiver or community based health care service with relevant information promptly. Community-based healthcare service could address issue facing aging disease patients (dementia) such as mobility monitoring (alerts and falls), infections control and cardiovascular diseases risk factors (hypertension and diabetes). This paper proposed a robust Alzheimer monitoring system (RAMS) in Nigeria to enhanced community-based healthcare activities

    Detection under Noise Using Component Improvement Strategy

    Abstract Inaccuracy in signal detection due to presence of noise in signal is responsible for fading/interference, this noise needs to be reduced for optimal signal detection, and detection must be accurate enough to minimize the risk of false alarm. A noise reduction model was developed to improve signal detection using component improvement strategy. The system was implemented on MATLAB software package. It can be seen from the results that for a given probability of false alarm (P FA ), the detection performance increases monotonically with the ENR based on the balanced probability of not meeting target of 0.5. It can be generally concluded from the results of the study that signal detection could be fully enhanced with the application of six sigma component-based improvement system. This is an indication that component-based sigma improvement system played a significant role in signal detection performance
