Production and use of an antiserum to grapevine virus B capsid protein purified from SDS-polyacrylamide gels

Antiserum to electrophoretically-separated capsid protein of grapevine virus B (GVB) was produced. After easy and effective elimination of antibodies cross-reactive with grapevine virus A (GVA), the antiserum was successfully used in ELISA for the detection of GVB in grapevines

Detection of two strains of grapevine leafroll-associated virus 2

Two strains of grapevine leafroll-associated virus 2 (GLRaV-2) were obtained by mechanical transmission from grapevines to Nicotiana benthantiana. The strains, designated 94/970 and 93/955, consistently differed with regard to the development of symptoms. The first induced chlorotic and occasional white-necrotic local lesions while the second induced chlorotic followed by metallic-opalescent, solid necrotic local lesions. The strains were indistinguishable with regard to the molecular weight of their capsid proteins or serologically. A difference in the pattern of minor dsRNA bands was consistently observed

    Evaluating Microcounseling Training

An evaluation research design was developed as an attempt to provide a more satisfactory approach to microcounseling training program evaluation. Trainee performance was measured three times during a counseling practicum, with microcounseling training occurring between the second and third observations. Trainee performance was compared to a predetermined standard for counselor behavior. Results were analyzed for both the differences between observations, and the degree of similarity to the model. Counseling behavior of trainees after microcounseling training was significantly different from their behavior prior to the training. After training they were more like the standard. The trainees performed less like the standard after some counseling experience, but before receiving microcounseling training.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/66901/2/10.1177_0193841X8300700206.pd

Alternate Narratives for the Tamil Yoginis: Reconsidering the ‘Kanchi Yoginis’ Past, Present, and Future

    No full text
This essay revisits a group of stone goddesses that once shared a temple in southern India, together with the god Shiva and perhaps other deities. Considering the different paths sacred sculptures in India take after becoming separated from their original temple contexts suggests that there were multiple possible histories for these works. The authors reveal a newly discovered goddess from the group and reconsider the significance of the works, including the original temple and the deities it enshrined. Finally, they propose the possibility of bringing these sculptures back together in the context of an exhibition
