The paper presents a method of the analytic-numerical nature
applied for finding the approximate solutions of the selected class of
problems which can be reduced to the one-phase solidification problem of
a plate with the unknown a priori, varying in time boundary of the region
in which the solution is sought. Presented method is attractive from the
engineer’s point of view since it is relatively easy for using and does not
require either sophisticated numerical techniques or far advanced mathematical

Odtworzenie warunku brzegowego trzeciego rodzaju przy zastosowaniu algorytmu mrówkowego
In this paper we present an application of the Ant Colony
Optimization algorithm for solving the inverse heat conduction problem in
which the state function and some of the boundary conditions should be
determined. The ACO algorithm is a part of the swarm intelligence and it
is inspired by the technique of searching for the shortest way connecting the
ant-hill with the source of food. We propose to use this algorithm for minimizing the proper functional, which plays a crucial role in the method of
solution and allows to reconstruct the value of heat transfer coefficient.W niniejszym artykule przedstawione zostało zastosowanie algorytmu mrówkowego do rozwiązania odwrotnego zagadnienia przewodnictwa ciepła, polegającego na wyznaczeniu funkcji stanu oraz rekonstrukcji jednego z warunków brzegowych. Algorytm mrówkowy należy do
grupy algorytmów inteligencji roju i zainspirowany został techniką wyszukiwania najkrótszej drogi łączącej mrowisko ze źródłem pożywienia. W proponowanym podejściu algorytm ten zostanie wykorzystany do wyznaczania
minimum funkcjonału będącego istotnym elementem metody rozwiązania,
umożliwiającym odtworzenie wartości współczynnika wnikania ciepła
Zastosowanie algorytmu selekcji klonalnej do odtworzenia warunku brzegowego trzeciego rodzaju
In this paper the inverse heat conduction problem with the
third kind boundary condition is solved by using the Clonal Selection Algorithm
(CSA) – the heuristic algorithm imitating the rules of functioning
of immunological system in the mammals bodies. Solution of investigated
problem consists in identifying the unknown heat transfer coefficient and
reconstructing the distribution of state function. To achieve this goal a procedure
based on minimization of the appropriate functional realized by the
aid of CSA algorithm is elaborated.Celem niniejszej pracy jest rozwiązanie zadania przewodnictwa
ciepła z warunkiem brzegowym trzeciego rodzaju przy zastosowaniu
algorytmu selekcji klonalnej (CSA) – algorytmu heurystycznego naśladującego
reguły funkcjonowania układu immunologicznego ssaków. Rozwiązanie
badanego zagadnienia polega na identyfikacji nieznanego współczynnika
wnikania ciepła oraz rozkładu funkcji stanu. Aby osiągnąć ten cel opracowana
została procedura oparta na minimalizacji odpowiedniego funkcjonału,
realizowana przy użyciu algorytmu CSA
Problem of the Moving Boundary in Continuous Casting Solved by The Analytic-Numerical Method
Mathematical modeling of thermal processes combined with the reversible phase transitions of type: solid phase – liquid phase leads to formulation of the parabolic or elliptic moving boundary problem. Solution of such defined problem requires, most often, to use some sophisticated numerical techniques and far advanced mathematical tools. The paper presents an analytic-numerical method, especially attractive from the engineer’s point of view, applied for finding the approximate solutions of the selected class of problems which can be reduced to the one-phase solidification problem of a plate with the unknown a priori, varying in time boundary of the region in which the solution is sought. Proposed method is based on the known formalism of initial expansion of a sought function, describing the field of temperature, into the power series, some coefficients of which are determined with the aid of boundary conditions, and on the approximation of a function defining the freezing front location with the broken line, parameters of which are determined numerically. The method represents a combination of the analytical and numerical techniques and seems to be an effective and relatively easy in using tool for solving problems of considered kind

Abstract A procedure based on the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm for solving the two-phase axisymmetric one-dimensional inverse Stefan problem with the third kind boundary condition is presented in this paper. Solving of the considered problem consists in reconstruction of the function describing the heat transfer coefficient appearing in boundary condition of the third kind in such a way that the reconstructed values of temperature would be as closed as possible to the measurements of temperature given in selected points of the solid. A crucial part of the solution method consists in minimizing some functional which will be executed with the aid of one of the swarm intelligence algorithms -the ABC algorithm
