The community service program refers to the lecturer and student activities that support real facilities to implement various academic activities that can have an impact on the community. The COVID-19 pandemic caused many Indonesian children did not receive complete routine immunization. Based on that condition the Ministry of Health launched National Child Immunization Month 2022/BIAN to boost the routine immunization coverage of the children. The BIAN socialization, the first step the team members met the Village Head and his staff to invoke for permission and support from local leaders to socialize BIAN to the community. Then, the doctors and midwives in Primary Health Care, community unit officers, and village cadres were met to be asked for guidance. The BIAN socialization was decided to be performed by two ways: By including BIAN socialization events at routine Primary Health Care events and implementation by several meetings in each Community Unit. Vaccination data in Mekarwangi Village were 60% of children that have been vaccinated and 40% have not been vaccinated. This situation is not only due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also because the understanding and awareness of the parents about vaccination is still low. The BIAN socialization explained the benefits of vaccination and invited the parents to participate in preventing and maintaining the health of their families, especially their children by participating the immunization of their children in BIAN activities. The events involved 286 mothers. The community service program students have contributed in realizing healthy human resources

Background: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) has been proved to have the highest incidence among eyelid malignancies. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common invasive cancer in humans. It is capable of causing extensive tissue destruction. The aim of the study was to identify the characteristics of adult patients with malignant eyelid BCC in Cicendo Eye Hospital Bandung. Methods: A descriptive retrospective study was conducted to determine the characteristics of adult patients with malignant eyelid BCC in Cicendo Eye Hospital Bandung from March 2013 to October 2015. Age and sex distribution of the lesions, location and histopathological results of the tumors were stratified as variables. The inclusion criteria were patients over age of 20, histopathologically diagnosed with periocular BCC. Results: A total of 37 cases histopathologically diagnosed with periocular BCC were evaluated. Females had a slight predominance. The mean age was 61.7 years. The most common site was on the lower lid. The tumors occurred more on the left side. The most common histological subtype was represented by solid growth pattern. Conclusions: The majority of periocular BCC cases occur in females and elderly. Most tumors develop on the lower lid with a left-side preference and have a solid growth pattern histologically. [AMJ.2017;4(1):148–51] DOI: 10.15850/amj.v4n1.103

Objective: Despite advanced treatment options available for colorectal cancer, many reported resistance and unresponsiveness to conventional chemotherapeutic agents. Therefore, it is urgent to discover a novel drug for colon cancer. Sarang Semut (Myrmecodia pendans), an Indonesian native plant, has been studied extensively due to its anti-cancer profiles. This study aimed to evaluate the anti-tumour activity of Sarang Semut in colon cancer cells. Methods: We evaluated cytotoxic activity of methanol extract as well as n-hexane and ethyl acetate fraction towards colon cancer cell lines (Caco-2 and HCT-116 cells) utilizing 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The most potent fraction was evaluated further in inhibiting cell survival using MTT assay and cell proliferation using trypan blue exclusion assay as well as a clonogenic assay. Results: Our data showed that the n-hexane fraction of Sarang Semut induces more cell death than the methanol extract and ethyl acetate fraction. Therefore, we analyzed the n-hexane fraction further and found that the inhibitory concentration 50% (IC50) of the n-hexane fraction was 24 and 30 parts per million (ppm) for Caco-2 and HCT-116 cells, respectively. Moreover, it inhibited cell growth as well as cell colony formation, in particular, shown by the plating efficiency (P<0.05) and colony area per seed (P<0.01) of the control group were different to the treatment group. Conclusion: The n-hexane fraction of Sarang Semut demonstrates a high potential antitumor activity in colon cancer cell line

The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak has caused learning activities to be carried out by utilizing information technology. The ability to use information technology during the COVID-19 era was being developed to increase people’s ability to utilize digital technology through digital literacy programs. The digital literacy program socialization was carried out in the following steps. Initially, the team members received work direction from the Directorate of Informatics Empowerment team of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Republic of Indonesia. Then, the team members met the Village Head and his staff to introduce the digital literacy program and ask for permission and support for this program. Afterward, the team member met the heads of the Youth organization and Junior high school and asked permission to socialize digital literacy with their members and the students. The digital literacy program was socialized to two groups: the young community in Mekarwangi village, members of Youth organizations, and Junior high school students. The total number of each group was 19 participants from Youth organization members and 191 participants from Junior high school students. All participants were educated on four pillars: digital ethics, digital safety, digital skills, and digital culture. The total number of participants was 210, have improved their skills and knowledge. They should care about digital skills, security, ethics, and culture. It was expected that in the future, participants would be able to implement the four main pillars and become qualified users of digital technology
