Metropolitan Area Disposable Personal Income: Methodology and Results for 2001-2004

    Get PDF
The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) publishes annual estimates of state disposable personal income, the difference between state personal income and state personal current taxes. BEA also publishes annual estimates of personal income for sub-state areas, but BEA does not publish corresponding estimates of disposable personal income (DPI) due to the absence of estimates of taxes. This paper uses the methodology presented in an earlier working paper to revise and update the estimates of disposable personal income for the current 363 metropolitan statistical areas for 2001-2004.

Metropolitan Area Disposable Personal Income - Methodology and Results for 2001-2007

The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) publishes annual statistics of state disposable personal income, the difference between state personal income and state personal current taxes. BEA also publishes annual statistics of personal income for sub-state areas, but BEA does not publish corresponding statistics of disposable personal income (DPI) due to the absence of sub-state statistics of personal current taxes. This paper expands on earlier work to present new statistics of disposable personal income for 2005-2007 for the current 366 metropolitan areas.

Radiocarbon analysis of modern skeletal remains to determine year of birth and death: a case study

To aid in the development of a biological profile for human remains found in Collyhurst, Manchester, England we undertook 14C analysis of tooth enamel, tooth collagen and bone collagen on behalf of Greater Manchester Police. On the basis of the analyses of the teeth, we concluded that the person was born between 1950 and 1954 while on the basis of our analyses of cortical and trabecular bone we estimated the year of death to be between 1969 and 1974. This would make the maximum age range around 15 to 24 years. Analyses of the dentition and other skeletal parameters can eliminate the younger part of the range so an age of around 18 to 24 years at death would seem most likely. The δ13C and δ15N values for the bone collagen were higher than would be expected for someone subsisting on a purely terrestrial diet, implying some consumption of marine resources which could lead to reduced 14C activities. Taking any potential marine effect into account could reduce this age range to around 18 to 21 years

State-Level Wage AGI Gap for tax years 2000-2002

The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), under contract with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Office of Research, undertook an update of BEA’s state-level wage reconciliation for 2000 between BEA wages and salaries and IRS wages and salaries in Adjusted Gross Income. The initial reconciliation for the year 2000 was documented in the BEA Working Paper, The Feasibility of Producing Personal Income to Adjusted Gross Income (PI-AGI) Reconciliations by State. This study updates state estimates of the reconciliation of BEA and IRS wages and salaries for 2001 and 2002.

The stages of the peptic hydrolysis of egg albumin

    Get PDF
    1. Most of the products of the peptic hydrolysis of albumin, about 85 per cent of the total N, are primary in the sense that they arise directly from the protein molecule, and undergo no further hydrolysis. 2. A slow secondary hydrolysis, involving about 15 per cent of the total N, occurs in the proteose and simpler fractions primarily split off. 3. Acid metaprotein in peptic hydrolysis arises as a result of the action of add. It is not an essential stage in the hydrolysis of undenatured albumin. 4. Acid metaprotein is hydrolyzed by pepsin more slowly under comparable conditions than undenatured albumin

Similarities of gauge and gravity amplitudes

We review recent progress in computations of amplitudes in gauge theory and gravity. We compare the perturbative expansion of amplitudes in N=4 super Yang-Mills and N=8 supergravity and discuss surprising similarities.Comment: Talk presented by Harald Ita at "Continuous Advances in QCD 2006", 7 page

The recent progress in computing gauge theory amplitudes can be extended, in many cases, to theories incorporating gravity. This has improved our understanding of the perturbative expansion of N=8 supergravity supporting the ``no-triangle hypothesis'' that N=8 one-loop amplitudes may be expressed in terms of scalar box integral functions.Comment: Talk presented by N. Investigating the relationship of verbal span and spatial span in a combination task

Measurement of working memory span typically involves tasks designed to introduce stimuli to the unique slave systems. It is widely accepted that these isolated measurements indicate, at a relatively simple level, the span of the given working memory system. This study hypothesizes that separate working memory systems can be combined to enhance span length. To evaluate this hypothesis, the Corsi Block Task, a commonly used measure of spatial working memory, will be altered to include verbal information (colors). One hundred subjects completed the following typically used cognitive tasks to observe the relationship between verbal abilities in working memory and spatial abilities in working memory: (1) the Raven\u27s Progressive Matrices, a standardized test of intelligence; (2) two forms of the Corsi Block Tapping Task, a test that measures the ability to maintain spatial information in working memory; (3) a word span task, a test that measure the ability to maintain verbal information in working memory; (4) and a color span task, a test that may measure the ability to maintain visual information in working memory. A comparison of these working memory span measurements was used to determine the extent to which verbal information may contribute to the enhancement of spatial working memory
