A 5G urban computing framework service model / Um modelo de serviço da estrutura de computação urbana 5G
This paper is about a fifth generation (5G) network technology structure model that is a facilitator that can provide new services to several segments in smart cities. It was verified that applications in smart cities include citizens and pervasive devices interaction which requires continuous monitoring to provide collaborative support and to raise environmental awareness. In order to implement the expected goals from the 5G ecosystem, this model incorporates software defined network and virtualized controllers to support new services. Examples of smart city services are traffic efficiency, security, surveillance, localization, healthcare services, infrastructure support among others. Any of these services will be able to get information from their users and from the network through our model, once an important issue in smart city is the challenge to collect or deliver useful and processed data to stakeholders. In this proposal, the evaluation of the model was conducted through emulations on Mininet and POX controllers. The results were analyzed using the Gephi tool, and they have demonstrated that the proposed model is applicable to support and provide new services such as intelligent transportation, road monitoring, energy consumption, public safety among others in smart cities
O nacionalismo galego: o percurso político e literário do século XIX à década de 1950
No caso da Galiza, o Nacionalismo está relacionado com a necessidade de uma comunidade de ser independente e com a consciência de pertencer a uma terra com características próprias.
O povo galego foi dominado por Castela durante mais de quinhentos anos, suportando proibições relativamente à sua cultura e língua e só no século XIX algumas vozes como Rosalía de Castro, Murguía, Curros Enríquez e Pondal começaram a desaprovar esse facto histórico em público, o que levou ao Nacionalismo, no século XX.
O problema galego é político, cultural e linguístico e, na primeira metade do século passado, escritores e outros intelectuais envolvidos em política escreveram acerca dele, não só em obras narrativas ou poesia mas também em ensaios que continham ideias nacionalistas, como Risco e Castelao; outros foram assassinados durante a Guerra Civil Espanhola, como Casas e Bóveda.
Tal como a restante Espanha, também a Galiza sofreu a ditadura de Franco; ABSTRACT:In the case of Galiza, Nationalism is related to the need of a community to be independent and to the conscience of belonging to a land with characteristics of its own.
Galician people has been dominated by Castilla for more than five houndred years, bearing prohibitions related to their culture and language and only in the nineteeth century some voices like Rosalía de Castro, Murguía, Curros Enríquez and Pondal began to dispprove that historical fact in public, what led to Nacionalism in the twentieth century.
The galician problem is potitical, cultural and linguistic and, in the first half of the last century, writers and other intelectuals involved in politics wrote not only novels or poetry but also essays containing nacionalist ideas, such as Risco and Castelao; others were murdered during The Spanish Civil War, like Casas or Bóveda.
Like the rest of Spain, also Galiza suffered the dictatorship of Franco
A hybrid sender and receiver-based routing protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks
In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), sensor nodes detect environment events and send them to sink nodes, which are responsible for processing these events. Due to the reduced of the nodes, the biggest restriction in a WSN is related to power consumption. Sender-based and receiver-based communication protocols each have their own advantages and disadvantages in certain scenarios. Since a WSN can undergo alterations in time, a protocol that is able to adapt to environmental conditions can increase network lifetime. This paper presents a hybrid routing protocol that operates according to sender-based and receiver-based approaches. The protocol was implemented using the NS-2 simulator and compared to sender-based and receiver-based approaches operating on their own. The results showed that the hybrid protocol, compared to sender and receiver-based approaches, achieves delivery rates close to 100%, performing 2.9 times less transmissions for each packet delivered. These gains demonstrate the contribution of the proposed algorithm, which reduces the number of transmissions, allowing the WSN to have a longer survival time.Keywords: hybrid sender and receiver protocol, Wireless Sensor Networks, routing protocol, simulations

Scientific production on the elderly person undergoing palliative care: bibliometric study
Objective: To characterize the scientific production disseminated in online journals on the elderly person undergoing palliative care. Method: This is a bibliometric study composed of 46 papers published in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE and IBECS, and in the digital libraries SciELO and COCHRANE, in the period from 2004 to 2014. Results: A concentration of titles in specialized journals in palliative care has been identified, with origin of Brazil, United States and United Kingdom, in Qualis A1, A2 and B1. The areas of Nursing and Medicine have obtained a greater amount of publications. There was a predominance of authors with the titration of PhD. As for the focus of the disease, 90% of the studies were related to cancer. Conclusion: The publications about the investigated issue have shown a little expressive amount, taking into account the surveyed period. It is suggested to perform new studies using bibliometric research as investigation method, so that other indicators can emerge and stimulate the expansion of knowledge about the theme

In vitro evaluation of alkaline lignins as antiparasitic agents and their use as an excipient in the release of benznidazole

The management of native forests in the Amazon is one of the most sensitive geopolitical issues today, given its national and international dimension. In this work, we obtained and characterized physicochemical lignins extracted from branches and leaves of Protium puncticulatum and Scleronema micranthum. In addition, we evaluated in vitro its potential as an antioxidant, cytotoxic agent against animal cells and antiparasitic against promastigotes of Leishmania amazonensis, trypomastigotes of T. cruzi and against Plasmodium falciparum parasites sensitive and resistant to chloroquine. The results showed that the lignins obtained are of the GSH type and have higher levels of guaiacyl units. However, they show structural differences as shown by spectroscopic analysis and radar charts. As for biological activities, they showed antioxidant potential and low cytotoxicity against animal cells. Antileishmanial/trypanocidal assays have shown that lignins can inhibit the growth of promastigotes and trypomastigotes in vitro. The lignins in this study showed low anti-Plasmodium falciparum activity against susceptible strains of Plasmodium falciparum and were able to inhibit the growth of the chloroquine-resistant strain. And were not able to inhibit the growth of Schistosoma mansoni parasites. Finally, lignins proved to be promising excipients in the release of benznidazole. These findings show the potential of these lignins not yet studied to promote different biological activities.publishersversionpublishe

There are few studies related to the ethnopharmacological use of C. racemosa. Our objective was to evaluate the hydroalcoholic extract of C. racemosa as a potential antiparasitic agent. For this, we performed in vitro assays against strains of Leishmania amazonensis, Trypanosoma cruzi, Plasmodium falciparum, and Schistosoma mansoni. At the same time, immunomodulatory activity tests were carried out. The results demonstrated that the extract was able to stimulate and activate immune cells. In preliminary antiparasitic tests, structural modifications were observed in the promastigote form of L. amazonensis and in adult worms of S. mansoni. The extract was able to inhibit the growth of trypomastigote form of T. cruzi and finally showed low antiparasitic activity against strains of P. falciparum. It is pioneering work and these results demonstrate that C. racemosa extract is a promising alternative and contributes to the arsenal of possible forms of treatment to combat parasites.publishersversionpublishe
Synthesis, characterization, antioxidant and antiparasitic activities new naphthyl-thiazole derivatives

Published by Elsevier Inc.In this work, 13 thiosemicarbazones (1a - m) and 16 thiazoles (2a - p) were obtained, which were properly characterized by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques. The pharmacokinetic properties obtained in silico revealed that the derivatives are in accordance with the parameters established by lipinski and veber, showing that such compounds have good bioavailability or permeability when administered orally. In assays of antioxidant activity, thiosemicarbazones showed moderate to high antioxidant potential when compared to thiazoles. In addition, they were able to interact with albumin and DNA. Screening assays to assess the toxicity of compounds to mammalian cells revealed that thiosemicarbazones were less toxic when compared to thiazoles. In relation to in vitro antiparasitic activity, thiosemicarbazones and thiazoles showed cytotoxic potential against the parasites Leishmania amazonensis and Trypanosoma cruzi. Among the compounds, 1b, 1j and 2l stood out, showing inhibition potential for the amastigote forms of the two parasites. As for the in vitro antimalarial activity, thiosemicarbazones did not inhibit Plasmodium falciparum growth. In contrast, thiazoles promoted growth inhibition. This study shows in a preliminary way that the synthesized compounds have antiparasitic potential in vitro.publishersversionpublishe
Accuracy of faecal calprotectin and neutrophil Gelatinase B-associated Lipocalin in evaluating subclinical inflammation in UlceRaTIVE colitis-the ACERTIVE study
Background and Aims: Mucosal healing and histological remission are different targets for patients with ulcerative colitis, but both rely on an invasive endoscopic procedure. This study aimed to assess faecal calprotectin and neutrophil gelatinase B-associated lipocalin as biomarkers for disease activity in asymptomatic ulcerative colitis patients. Methods: This was a multicentric cross-sectional study including 371 patients, who were classified according to their endoscopic and histological scores. These results were evaluated alongside the faecal levels of both biomarkers. Results: Macroscopic lesions [i.e. endoscopic Mayo score >= 1] were present in 28% of the patients, and 9% had active disease according to fht Ulcerative Colitis Endoscopic Index of Severity. Moreover, 21% presented with histological inflammation according to the Geboes index, whereas 15% and 5% presented with focal and diffuse basal plasmacytosis, respectively. The faecal levels of calprotectin and neutrophil gelatinase B-associated lipocalin were statistically higher for patients with endoscopic lesions and histological activity. A receiver operating characteristic-based analysis revealed that both biomarkers were able to indicate mucosal healing and histological remission with an acceptable probability, and cut-off levels of 150-250 mu g/g for faecal calprotectin and 12 mu g/g for neutrophil gelatinase B-associated lipocalin were proposed. Conclusions: Faecal calprotectin and neutrophil gelatinase B-associated lipocalin levels are a valuable addition for assessment of disease activity in asymptomatic ulcerative colitis patients. Biological levels of the analysed biomarkers below the proposed thresholds can rule out the presence of macroscopic and microscopic lesions with a probability of 75-93%.
