Passivity voltage based control of the boost power converter used in photovoltaic system
Introduction. This paper presents a robust nonlinear control of the DC-DC boost converter feeding by a photovoltaic system based on the passivity control. The control law design uses the passivity approach. Novelty. The novelty consists in designing a control law for a photovoltaic system using a passivity approach based on energy shaping and associated with damping injection. Purpose. The purpose consists to develop a tool for design and optimize a control law of the photovoltaic system in order to improve its efficiency under some conditions such as the variations of the temperature, the irradiation and the parameters. Also, the control law design should be simple with a lower overshoot and a shorter settling time. Methods. This work uses the port Hamiltonian mathematical approach with minimization of the energy dissipation in boost converter of the photovoltaic system to illustrate the modification of energy and generate a specify duty cycle applied to the converter. Results. The results with MATLAB/SimPowerToolbox® have proven the robustness against parameter variations and effectiveness of the proposed control. Practical value. The experimental results, carried out using a dSPACE DS1104 system, are presented to show the feasibility and the robustness of the proposed control strategy against parameter variations.Вступ. У статті представлено надійне нелінійне керування живленням перетворювача постійного струму, що підвищує, фотоелектричною системою на основі керування пасивністю. У створенні закону управління використовується пасивний підхід. Новизна. Новизна полягає у розробці закону управління фотоелектричною системою з використанням пасивного підходу, заснованого на формуванні енергії та пов'язаного з упорскуванням демпфування. Мета. Мета полягає в тому, щоб розробити інструмент для проектування та оптимізації закону керування фотогальванічною системою для підвищення її ефективності за деяких умов, таких як зміни температури, опромінення та параметрів. Крім того, будова закону управління має бути простою, з меншим перерегулюванням і коротшим часом встановлення. Методи. У роботі використовується математичний підхід Гамільтона до порту з мінімізацією розсіювання енергії у перетворювачі фотоелектричної системи, що підвищує, щоб проілюструвати зміну енергії і створити заданий робочий цикл, що застосовується до перетворювача. Результати. Результати з використанням MATLAB/SimPowerToolbox® довели стійкість до змін параметрів та ефективність запропонованого керування. Практична цінність. Представлені експериментальні результати, отримані з використанням системи dSPACE DS1104, щоб показати здійсненність та стійкість запропонованої стратегії управління при зміні параметрів
Adaptive maximum power point tracking using neural networks for a photovoltaic systems according grid
Introduction. This article deals with the optimization of the energy conversion of a grid-connected photovoltaic system. The novelty is to develop an intelligent maximum power point tracking technique using artificial neural network algorithms. Purpose. Intelligent maximum power point tracking technique is developed in order to improve the photovoltaic system performances under the variations of the temperature and irradiation. Methods. This work is to calculate and follow the maximum power point for a photovoltaic system operating according to the artificial intelligence mechanism is and the latter is used an adaptive modified perturbation and observation maximum power point tracking algorithm based on function sign to generate an specify duty cycle applied to DC-DC converter, where we use the feed forward artificial neural network type trained by Levenberg-Marquardt backpropagation. Results. The photovoltaic system that we chose to simulate and apply this intelligent technique on it is a stand-alone photovoltaic system. According to the results obtained from simulation of the photovoltaic system using adaptive modified perturbation and observation – artificial neural network the efficiency and the quality of the production of energy from photovoltaic is increased. Practical value. The proposed algorithm is validated by a dSPACE DS1104 for different operating conditions. All practice results confirm the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.Вступ. У статті йдеться про оптимізацію перетворення енергії фотоелектричної системи, підключеної до мережі. Новизна полягає у розробці методики інтелектуального відстеження точок максимальної потужності з використанням алгоритмів штучної нейронної мережі. Мета. Методика інтелектуального відстеження точок максимальної потужності розроблена з метою поліпшення характеристик фотоелектричної системи в умовах зміни температури та опромінення. Методи. Робота полягає в обчисленні та відстеженні точки максимальної потужності для фотоелектричної системи, що працює відповідно до механізму штучного інтелекту, і в останній використовується адаптивний модифікований алгоритм збурення та відстеження точок максимальної потужності на основі знаку функції для створення заданого робочого циклу стосовно DC-DC перетворювача, де ми використовуємо штучну нейронну мережу типу «прямої подачі», навчену зворотному розповсюдженню Левенберга-Марквардта. Результати. Фотоелектрична система, яку ми обрали для моделювання та застосування цієї інтелектуальної методики, є автономною фотоелектричною системою. Відповідно до результатів, отриманих при моделюванні фотоелектричної системи з використанням адаптивних модифікованих збурень та спостереження – штучної нейронної мережі, ефективність та якість виробництва енергії з фотоелектричної енергії підвищується. Практична цінність. Запропонований алгоритм перевірено dSPACE DS1104 для різних умов роботи. Усі практичні результати підтверджують ефективність запропонованого нами алгоритму
Model reference adaptive system speed estimator based on type-1 and type-2 fuzzy logic sensorless control of electrical vehicle with electrical differential
Introduction. In this paper, a new approach for estimating the speed of in-wheel electric vehicles with two independent rear drives is presented. Currently, the variable-speed induction motor replaces the DC motor drive in a wide range of applications, including electric vehicles where quick dynamic response is required. This is now possible as a result of significant improvements in the dynamic performance of electrical drives brought about by technological advancements and development in the fields of power commutation devices, digital signal processing, and, more recently, intelligent control systems. The system’s reliability and robustness are improved, and the cost, size, and upkeep requirements of the induction motor drive are reduced through control strategies without a speed sensor. Successful uses of the induction motor without a sensor have been made for medium- and high-speed operations. However, low speed instability and instability under various charge perturbation conditions continue to be serious issues in this field of study and have not yet been effectively resolved. Some application such as traction drives and cranes are required to maintain the desired level of torque down to low speed levels with uncertain load torque disturbance conditions. Speed and torque control is more important particularly in motor-in-wheel traction drive train configuration where vehicle wheel rim is directly connected to the motor shaft to control the speed and torque. Novelty of the proposed work is to improve the dynamic performance of conventional controller used of model reference adaptive system speed observer using both type-1 and type-2 fuzzy logic controllers. Purpose. In proposed scheme, the performance of the engine is being controlled, fuzzy logic controller is controlling the estimate rotor speed, and results are then compared using type-1 and type-2. Method. For a two-wheeled motorized electric vehicle, a high-performance sensorless wheel motor drive based on both type-2 and type-1 fuzzy logic controllers of the model reference adaptive control system is developed. Results. Proved that, using fuzzy logic type-2 controller the sensorless speed control of the electrical differential of electric vehicle EV observer, much better results are achieved. Practical value. The main possibility of realizing reliable and efficient electric propulsion systems based on intelligent observers (type-2 fuzzy logic) is demonstrated. A cross-country examination on the fear of covid-19 and the sense of loneliness during the first wave of covid-19 outbreak
The aim of the current study is to examine gender, age. and cross-country differences in fear of COVID-19 and sense of loneliness during the lockdown, by comparing people from those countries with a high rate of infections and deaths (e.g., Spain and Italy) and from countries with a mild spread of infection (e.g., Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina). A total of 3876 participants (63% female) completed an online survey on “Everyday life practices in COVID-19 time” in April 2020, including measures of fear of COVID-19 and loneliness. Males and females of all age groups in countries suffering from the powerful impact of the COVID-19 pandemic reported greater fear of COVID-19 and sense of loneliness. In less endangered countries, females and the elderly reported more symptoms than males and the young; in Spanish and Italian samples, the pattern of differences is considerably more complex. Future research should thoroughly examine different age and gender groups. The analysis of emotional well-being in groups at risk of mental health issues may help to lessen the long term social and economic costs due to the COVID-19 outbreak
Time spent on the smartphone does not relate to manual dexterity in young adults
Background: The Grooved Pegboard Test (GPT) is widely adopted to evaluate manual dexterity, it presents normative data but the test is influenced by different factors. The influence of time spent on smartphones has not been considered before, for this reason, the objective of this study was to evaluate if smartphone use influences the time to complete the GPT. A total of 38 (21 women; 17 men) young adults 20.7 (1.5) years participated in the study. The time spent on the smartphones during the last seven days was recorded through the device itself and the GPT performance was measured. A correlation analysis between the time spent on the smartphone and GPT was performed while the t-test was adopted to evaluate gender differences. Results: No statistically significant differences were detected between men and women in the time to complete the GPT (p = 0.20) and in the time spent on the smartphone (p = 0.87). The GPT and the time spent using the smartphone were not correlated (r = 0.044, p = 0.78). Conclusion: The time spent on the smartphone by young adults does not influence the time to complete the GPT, indicating that smartphone use does not influence measures of manual dexterity
The influence of closed or open grip type during a pull-up test to exhaustion
The aim of this study is to assess whether a closed (CG) or open grip (OC) can influence the maximum number of repetitions during the pull-up test to exhaustion.
Ninety-five physically active males (age 23.5 ± 6.2 years, body mass 69 ± 7.9 kg, height 174.0 ± 6.4 cm, BMI 22.9 ± 2.2) randomly performed the pull-up test to exhaustion twice, once for each type of grip, one week apart. No significant difference (p = 0.092) was found between the maximum number of repetitions performed with the OG (14.2 ± 5.7) or the CG (13.9 ± 5.9). Spearman's correlation showed no significant association between participants' body mass and the number of repetitions (r = 0.128, p = 0.22 for OG; r = 0.157, p = 0.13 for CG). According to our results, the grip is not relevant in the determination of the performance during a pull-up test to exhaustion. Thus, using one grip instead of another may be recommended independently of performance needs. Grip type may be adapted considering the practised sport, and specific athletic requirements, as well as individual preference
Cardiorespiratory fitness in volleyball athletes following a covid-19 infection: A cross-sectional study
Athletes’ lifestyles have been dramatically affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Since COVID-19 primarily affects the respiratory system and to a lesser degree the cardiovascular system, the goal of this study was to examine the effects of COVID-19-caused detraining on cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) of recently recovered volleyball athletes. Sixteen experienced volleyball athletes (age 24 ± 4.5 years) who were recently diagnosed and recovered from a COVID-19 infection volunteered to participate in this study and were tested for CRF and spirometry. Given that participants had only mild symptoms of infection, the primary focus of this study was on the effects of detraining on CRF. On average, the time to exhaustion was 9.4 ± 1.4 min. VE, VCO2, RER and oxygen pulse increased, heart rate exceeded 90% of predicted values, and peak VO2 values were typical for this level of athlete (44.1 ± 3.4 mL/kg). Pulmonary function reflected in FVC, FEV1/FVC and MVV values were well above 80% of predicted values for each of the participants while electrocardiography revealed no ischemia, arrythmias or conduction and repolarization abnormalities were found in the tested subjects. Conclusions: participants experienced typical consequences of detraining. Due to a lack of CRF data prior to COVID-19 infection, we were unable to estimate the magnitude detraining had on CRF. Complete CRF assessment after COVID-19 infection in athletes can be useful for screening of residual myocardial and/or respiratory system damage for safe return-to-play decisions
